The Royal Investigator Ranking System
The Royal Investigator Service
Background
In order to reward players who take an active part in the story arcs and not just those who attend the "live" events we have come up with a system to enhance the player experience. The concept is that in between live events there are always things happening in the world of Sosaria that need to be investigated and reported on "in character" to the various role-play characters [RPCs] we have created such as Nathan Hawke, Fynn Barret and others. This should help to make the story arcs more cohesive and fill in the gaps between scheduled events.
As player characters complete missions, write reports and attend events they will earn achievement points. Once a set number of points have been achieved the player’s character will earn a sash denoting their current rank in the Royal Investigator Service. Sashes will be handed to the player’s character once the rank has been achieved at a formal award service.
[As with all systems like this it is not set in stone and it can and will be tweaked and altered if necessary or it isn’t working.]
There will be two main ways to earn ranking points as follows:
Taking Part in Missions.
Mission details will be posted on the EM Website usually at around 8pm UK time for the sake of consistency. [We hope to also have an in game means of alerting players that a mission has started and its current status] The mission details will give the name of the mission, the objective, a starting point, what information needs to be included in the mission report and the method by which the mission report needs to be submitted. This will either be by a verbal report in character in game, via an in game book left at a mailbox or a forum post as appropriate. [More details on this to follow]
Some missions will be able to be undertaken by many players with points awarded for the first person to complete with lesser points awarded to those who complete after. [Like a competition where the first past the post to write and submit the report gets 3 points, second place gets 2 points and all others who complete the mission and submit a report get 1 point].
Other missions will only be able to be completed once and points will be awarded to the first player to complete the mission and submit a report i.e. Recover the stolen plans for the new Royal Barge – this can obviously only be completed once as in this instance there would only be one set of plans to recover.
Taking Part in Live Events.
Specific live events which will be eligible for ranking points will be posted on the EM Website in advance of an event. Events will include competitive type events, role play events, training events and other kinds.
In order to earn a ranking point for attending an event you will need to submit an in game book and drop it off at a mailbox [details to follow] with the date and character name within 30 minutes of the finish of the event. It is vital that this is done in order to register that you attended an event.
In order to earn a possible extra two points you will need to submit an in game book with a brief report of what happened at the event and drop it off at the mailbox within a given amount of time after the event [a few days at least]. You will need to include your character name and date of the event also.
