Why are there no town criers?

There are none to be found on Atlantic. Do other shards have theirs? How am I supposed to know what's invaded?

They're definitely around. I just checked Atlantic. There are roughly 1-2 in most (not all) cities.

No, on Catskills they aren't. At least not where they used to be and nowhere near a bank.
Ya'll reckon the ones that are left will soon be crying, "Britannia Unemployment levels hit all time high of 12.5%?" :mf_prop:

Just not Luna, Britain, or Haven, the only three cities with people in them. Even though there were criers spamming nonsense about giant turkeys in all of those places just days ago.

At least Nosferatu is still there in Umbra selling hell hound treats that no longer work.

Not to be bitchy, but there's been a crier in front of Brit bank since the Clinton Administration, and now suddenly poof.

Ah, there were some town criers hired by Al Wilson of the Moonglow Royal Zoo that focused exclusively on the great turkey invasion of last month and were not part of the "official" town crier organization. For those with the Sherry statues, you'll notice it never spoke of any foul fowls running amok. Since the turkeys have moved on, so have these rent-a-criers.

Anyway, I just went to Catskills as well took five minutes to recall and gallop around and found three town criers. They're around. That's all I can say.

So am I smoking dope and there HASN'T been a town crier at West Britain Bank for... at least the last ten years since I started playing up until a few days ago? Anyone?

It is probably a new "time sink", er "feature", Randomly spawning Town Criers. They re-spawn in new and random locations each day. :)

Well there has been a town crier at WBB for the last 10 years and is not there now, however that in no way proves you have not partaken of some of the green stuff in that length of time :mf_prop:

Pft, town criers. Not like they were all up on the propper "news" anyways. So I don't really care. But they probably took their own leave because they needed a break, I don't they they get any pay, let alone dental care.

At least the teeming crowds of Vesper will know. They can come inform Brit/Luna/etc.

I just ran around Luna and Brit on Atlantic; no cryers around the main bank of either city.

You should surely fix that; Atlantic is at least one of your most-populated servers, and probably your most popular one. Only Crier I saw at Luna on Atlantic appeared to be an EM-controlled one. Quite pretty. Named Atlanta. But she wasn't talking about the invasions. She was concerned with what appeared to be the Christmas gift giving. Which is fine.

Great Lakes has 1 or 2 at the Luna Bank, I think at the West Brit Bank too, and I thank you for that. But I should think you would want to take care of Atlantic as well. The fighting at this event was fun yesterday; I, for one, should like more Atlantic residents to know it's going on, so they could take part.

I spammed "news" at New Haven, Luna Bank, Luna Moongate, and West Brit Bank, and nothing.

Perhaps you accidentally scooped up the normal town cryers when you took out the turkey event ones? Surely at least worth a second glance.

It's the holiday season, they just wanted to give the normal criers some much deserved time off. We just have to deal with the scab criers for a little while is all :D

Three town criers on Catskills. And Sherry the Mouse. Does this mean the invasion event is so secret that only players who regularly go to Cove or own a rare Sherry statue will know about the event? Is this intended?

Are sherry statues rare?
They were obtained thru a turn in a couple of years ago by turning in Magincia rubble etc. The points can no longer gotten that I know of but as of a few months ago you could still turn in the tickets and get the rewards. I would call them kinda rare, but not expensive. You can find them under a mil fairly easy.

If EA are incapable of managing it why don't the players take over that part?

Get a few people together with mice and if something is happening inform people either by rp towncriers or in chat?

No. To pull the curtain away for a minute, the respawner kicked in during the publish and the town criers were placed in random parts of each town (not necessarily near banks). Yes, their locations are less than optimal and that will be addressed, but with the publish out, it can't be addressed immediately. In the meantime, I am confirming that the statement "there are no town criers on my shard" is false and that they are not difficult to locate if time was spent exploring each of the towns.

ALL i can say is wow people. Has it really came to pancakes about the town cryer locations? I think some of yall really like this game but are picking it apart just to have something to pancake about...

Take a deep breath walk around a little just because they are not in the same spot they have been in for 10 years dont mean the world is ending. Check the stores of the town maye they decided to do some shopping.

Well, I personally don't give a rat's arse about town criers since I have a Sherry statue. So why do I post it? Because people who don't read these boards and weren't there for the Spring Cleaning 2008 will probably not be aware of an invasion in the first place. It is not my job to entertain the players.

*shrugs*

I guess BTeng expects players to regularly search towns for any news that might or might not pop up. In Britain on Catskills, the one town crier I saw is standing in an inaccessible area by the moat. I guess it is the player's fault if they are too stupid to find him. /sarkasm

Yeah, I had to listen to a crier scream "TURKEY EVENT 2009!!!" every 8 seconds for a month, but now that there's something worth knowing about I'm supposed to recall to Nujel'm and find them or something.

Is there anything that can be screwed up in an MMO that some ****** won't scream "LAZY" and tell us to just work through? I have a better idea, how about they don't just randomly **** up long-standing features?

By the way, what exactly did the spawner do that it had never done previously in the last decade-plus of town criers being right where they always were? On the bright side, we don't need to hear from the criers since there appear to be no invasions.

Why can't it be handled now? Why can't a GM(s)S/dev(s) just log on a move them?

Begin sarcasm because part of the third string dev team just told you to get off your ass and look for them, and "that's all I can say" /end sarcasm
