Wow.

Um.

Message body. Not anything more to say, really. Well, how about I tell you how to make some darn good twice baked potatoes?

PRINCE CASPIAN'S TWICE BAKED POE-TAY-TOES
====================================
3-4 taters, precious.
2 green onions
2 celery stalks
1 small onion
1/2 stick of butter
2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
3 tbs bacon bits (or real bacon)

1. Bake the potatoes at 350 until a toothpick comes out clean.
2. Cut the potatoes in half lengthwise.
3. Very carefully, hollow out the inside about 50%, so that you have a nice big crater but you arent digging down to the skin so the thing falls apart.
4. Put the excavated potato fragments in a bowl.
5. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
6. Pour half the butter on the potato fragments.
7. Chop up the green onions, regular onion and celery stalk, and sautee them in the butter in the saucepan until soft.
8. Mix the veggies into the potato fragments and mix in the bacon bits.
9. Take the potato mixture and fill each of the tater craters for all your potato halves.
10. Sprinkle cheese on top liberally.
11. Cook on a cookie sheet until the cheese is melted.
12. Engage NOMNOMNOM.

Oh, and between steps 1 and 2, take the potatoes OUT of the oven first.

You need 65 Cooking skill to make these, btw.

Your right.

Dev you do need to raise the skill cap limit. Honsetly to do most of the "sets" be it warrior or crafter the 720 skill cap is lacking big time.

I could sit here and type out the ton of templates there are to do but we both know you know them by heart.

Now that you have bumped up fishing to the hights of 120 its a bit sticky on "Vet" characters who have balanced out all the skill points they could muster including jewelry and clothing. This is quite troublesum for many you ether have extra points (under 60) you cant do anything with or you need more points to do it as you need.

It's Time to raise the limit.

While I agree with the sentiment behind these statements should be true, I think the reality is nearly the exact opposite. Case in point, Cal didn't know what a sampire is. He's the flipping producer and he didn't know what the most popular, effective, tweaked-out template of the last 6 years was.

Remember, this is a team who apparently thinks tedium is "fun."

Before we cry foul at the 720 skill cap, let’s demand that the skills be balanced first - at least to a reasonable degree. That damage numbers be roughly equivalents between all the combat at magic skills. (So a GM Mage can have a similar damage output as a GM Swordsman, etc.). Let’s get some illusion of balance in PvP that doesn't completely screw PvM, and vice versa.

Then let’s complain that we can't squeeze in the hot new skill or +20 new cap. However, I will point out that the Team will remind us of soulstones, available from UO Gamecodes at $9.99 a pop. Why increase the cap when they can get nearly another month's sub out of the players?

It’s a catch 22, for both them and us.

Somehow, I think this one went way off topic in the original post...

I prefer to bake them... then thick slice them and quick-fry them.

Jewelry + Artifacts + Imbuing = WELL over 720 skill cap.

Taters = even better (regardless of how they are prepared) with cheese and bacon.

From his own words (1), and that of one of his team (2), He and the team also think that:
1. People only do peerless to get the ML ingredients (I think the prices still accorded to CCs and other items says otherwise)
2. Chivalry is a spellcasting skill, not related to combat the way Bushido and Ninjitsu are, and doesn't need to factor into special move cost reduction costs the way that Bushido & Ninjitsu do (never mind that the ninja and non-archer Samurai templates are designed to insure a character gets special move cost reduction, and that Chivalry is a near-useless skill for a noncombatant, except to travel around, with its few non-offensive abilities done better by other skills)

I would SO support a food area in our forum, I'm the main cook in our house, and actually do very well on scratch, and quick meals & mods, like shrimp alfredo, except use pepper-jack instead of Parmesan cheese.

But...I agree on the points, How Many?? At one time I said 100, but maybe more realistically, something around 60? Stat scrolls still have to be worth something, and those numbers not included in the total number, or else many would not see them as beneficial to obtain. As it stands, the scrolls don't really do much, and are usually forgotten.

If I haven't missed anything, I get 955 as the effective skill cap with skill bonus and items:

720 to start...

Head +30
Neck ?
Arms +20
Gloves +10
Chest ?
Legs +40
Sash ?
Bracelet +45
Ring +45
Weapon +20
Shield +5
Talisman +15
Robe +5
Shoes ?

= 235

235 = 720 = 955

And thinking I'm sure I'm missing some somewhere.

Anyone who uses the term "potato fragments" in their RL recipes has been playing UO for too long.

I've berated, moaned and groaned, and roasted the idea of skills going over 100 in the first place. I'd rather talk about potato fragments now.

it should be a reward choice for true veterans of this game after my 160 months fo playing this game we got what a white dye tup and 3 other stupid things for rewards kidding me?

older the account, more skill points available.. just how it should be.

some of you might say as well thats not fair? why not? cause of all you AOS newbies?

a 13th year of paying to play a game should be a great thing, not a slap in the face.

oH I SOOOOO hate to have to do this

But I Agree with Popps :sad2:

Anyhow there is no timer on soul stones so if you are whinning about a Mule oyu are completely LOST! There is NOTHING that requires 720 skill point in crafting to make so you Lose that one right out.

As for ANY other template, what are you looking for humm -

120 Taming, Lore, Vet, Mage, Eval, Med, Wrestle???

Mage, Eval, Med, Focus, Mystic, Necro, SS

Archery, Tact, Anat, Chiv, Heal, Nija, Bushi, Parry???

Seriously you are looney if you think these should be obtainable with special items.

720 is more than enough for ANY template:thumbup1:

Re: Devs, if you are gonna KEEP bumping 100 skills to 120 caps, RAISE THE 720 SKILL C

I am not sure about this, sometimes I think we need it and sometimes I don't I mean melee chars need a boost that is for sure because their templates can be extremely cramped. Mages not so much I fairly easily fit 120 mage 110 eval med necro weaving resist and 100 SS on my pvm peerless hunter. Yes I use items and I probably could go a little more not much though.

What I would like to see though is. That we could imbue say a sash or doublet with 3 properties with a cap of 300 except they would have to make it so you could only wear one of these magically clothing at a time Some how. Ideally I want something that would replace robes so we don't all look the same. I mean if you want to wear the luck mana regen 2 robe then fine but if you wanted you could wear a sash with mana regen 2 and 15 meditation and 15 eval int. or what ever. DEX and 2 skills. Maybe make it so you can only have 1 stat bonus such as str mana or what ever. It probably be a horror to code but its and idea and it would help greatly on peoples looks and with the skill cap issues if you chose to use the properties that way. Also 100 durability cap for these items.

Ah well its a start of an idea.

Completely missing the point.

The point is to show that there is ALREADY a much higher skill cap than 720 should people choose to use it.

I think that it merits at least looking at to see if it needs to be rebalanced. I've got multiple characters that have 20 spare skill points. What am I supposed to do with 20 extra skill points on a human?

Spoken like a true noob ;) Yes vets DO deserve the +20. Afterall we have put up with EA?Mythic for years and years. As a small payment/reward for putting up with customer no service and all the other crap they give us a bump in skill points and some vet rewards.

To the op tho. I don't like increasing the skill cap tho. Even though they have a skill cap now people can go WAY over that. It was a little on the difficult side prior to imbuing, having to find the right jewl for that temp. Now days tho it is nothing at all to get a temp that uses 850 skill points. If you increase the skill you would start seeing 1000+ skill point temps. If you think alot needs to be nerfed now, just imagine how many nerf hollers you would get with people running around with that kinda skill.

I haven't thought about this topic much so no flames please. But as I read through the various posts it occurred to me that IF they were to increase the skill total, perhaps they should consider increasing it like they do stats -- you can earn +5 to +25 stat scrolls. It would be pretty cool if you could earn +5 to +25 skill limit scrolls. Just a thought off the top of my head.
