Booster Pack, can't buy it.

Hello

I have read today the News : Mythic Entertainment | Ultima Online - Play the 14-Day Free Trial! about the High Seas Booster Pack. So i thought i check how much it costs ect. and went to the first Page, named on UOHerald.com. I searched on EA Store (US) Online Store - Welcome just to find out that they sell only Stygian Abyss Expansion Code and nothing more. After that i went to http://uogamecodes.com/, just to find out that ONLY Creadit Card Users can purchase the Booster Pack. I pay UO per Pay by Cash and i am pretty sure that many other UO Players pays UO on the same way. The only Items i can buy, per Pay by Cash are :

So why of the Hell, can't we get all Items per Pay by Cash? Here in Germany is not 1 Shop that sells the Booster Pack, so right now there is no way to get the Booster Pack, without Credit Card. It's a shame that EA can't make it only one damn time right.

Accounts seem to be flagged this if the password has been changed within 30 days or are inactive (Just my experience).

The password hasn't been changed in 30 days either. It's been my experience that patch day at EA is a mind numbingly annoying thing that usually results in client reinstalls and tons of updates because of rushed production. Thanks for your input tho.

Perhaps you should refer them on to John Riccitiello, since as head of EA he was VERY keen on stressing that online microtransactions were the way of the future when explaining to shareholders how the organisation will recover from slowing profits.

Surely the oldest online game in the EA stables should have the best online shopping profile and support....

Firstly I am in the UK (I did select the outside US part) so the cost of ringing that number will probably end up costing more than the booster pack. Secondly, I remember this happened back when I wanted to buy Stygian Abyss and in the end I had to use the EA Store which worked perfectly with exactly the same details. So it looks like you guys won't be getting my money, as much as I wanted to give it.

You'd think EA would be capable of running an online store ... its not exactly cutting technology these days. Yet more EA incompetence.

Because EA, as a huge conglomerate, is split into lots of tiny little units that don't work with each other, respond to other sections inside the corporation, or act in the interests of their customers - because when you are a big enough corporation you lose sight of the whole point of your business because you concentrate on internal bureaucracies and 'efficiencies' instead of worrying about the 'little stuff' like letting people pay you in a sensible or convenient to them way to them.

For evidence, just see the entire laughable history of UO 'marketing', it's total absence on regional EA websites, failed shipping to the rest of the world for expansions, lousy quality gamecodes website......

I've had this exact same issue for years as well. It's why I didn't (read COULDN'T) upgrade to SA and it looks like the same thing is about to happen with High Seas. So annoyed.

As a UK customer I'm redirected to the UK store, which doesn't have the booster pack. At least not when I search for Ultima Online. Though it does have SA. Any idea when it will have High Seas?

Sorry to say it Cal but I stated in my post that I am in the UK, it is NOT on the UK EA store.

Oh and as a future tip, all problems would be solved if you allowed people to pay by PayPal.

One of the reasons I say EA is a mess of unconnected bits that don't work as a whole - try using the EA UK site to check for Ultima Online, you get told two product exist - Lords Of Ultima and Samurai Empire...

Ok here's the scoop. If you use EAstore.com you can go in and up on top there's a link for Customer Service. In there, you can see your Order History, and then find the game code. Thanks to EA's automated canned response.

Too bad the uo account management site is bogged down. I guess millions of people are rushing to apply the code. I keep losing connection.

Somebody did - or at least tried to.

- European players may not be able to access the North American EA store, so please purchase from uogamecodes.com instead.

- Also, please note that 90 day and 180 day Gametime codes will also be available for the U.S and Europe on the uogamecodes store. There were a few players who have asked for this option, so those codes should also be available via the store.

- In the past some players experienced problems with purchasing multiple items from the EA store, or the limits on the UOGamecode store.

- The purchasing limit on UOgamecode store has been increased for a short time. If you have problems purchasing multiple times with the EA store please contact EA customer support.

I haven't tried buying mine yet. Has anyone else bought more than one code?

Foresight is never anything you could accuse Cal, or any of his predecessors for that matter, of having. Thats why UO is the mess it is.

I got a PM earlier that says:

Seems somewhere along the way I lost my card got a new one and forgot to change the info.
When I tried to use it it popped up as stolen and that put me out of ever shopping. It marked my email and acct as stolen you are done with ever using that again unless some one intervenes. So message Cal that that has happened to you and see if he can fix it, because they will never tell you ERROR 31 IS STOLEN CARD

So is "ERROR 31" Stolen card? Considering I have never bought anything off the uogamecodes store for this exact error, and I've never had my account/card hacked/stolen, what gives? Seems it is your side because I remember when I wanted to get Stygian Abyss, I tried 5 times to buy it and got that error, then I tried the EA store and got it first time without any problems.

Unlikely. As far as I know the fairly standard EFT ( the Wiki explaining those is here) transaction codes suggest

31 = Card issuer or merchant's bank not supported

I still reckon it's a foulup in the way the Gamecodes system is reading response data from our card issuer.

It seems somewhere along the way I lost my card got a new one and forgot to change the info. Then I was so used to those numbers,that I used it on the uostore by accident

My card has not been stolen. The details have not been changed at all, ever. I used it ten minutes ago on a different online site to buy a book, without any difficulty.

I was able to buy 2 codes from uogamecodes. Had no problems at all,
but I use Firefox with that site as I always had problems with IE.

It's painfully clear to everyone but the people who run the site that the issues are down to the Gamecodes site. The card used to work there, worked fine buying from Amazon about 9 hours ago so it isn't blocked in any way, and all that has changed since it was last used at Gamecodes on 18 Sept (and before then on 8 September, 11 August, 22 June, loads of transactions going back to the start of the year) was the 'updating' of the Gamecodes site.

I've even checked with my bank, and they tell me nothing has been altered about the way their systems transfer data for online purchases.... how much clearer can it be that a site meant to be supporting and collecting revenue for your game is failing you so badly and yet is able to carry on losing EA money? And why is it being allowed to get away with it?

I mailed support - the first part of the question I sent was :

"Yet again there are problems with UOGameCodes.com - this time ordering the latest expansion, 'High Seas'. Apparently my credit card is being refused, supposedly because the address and zip code do not match those registered with the card."

Their answer to that?

So there you go - lousy English from someone too idle or uninformed to read and understand what the issue was....

I appreciate you mean to help - but seriously, this has already gone way too far. It's not up to customers to find a way around the screwups created by EA. We put up with it far too often, and I'm now completely sick of it. Something that is not complicated worked perfectly well - EA 'improved' it and screwed it up. It's down to them to, for once, sort out their own mess - or just do without the money they should be making.

I'm less inclined than ever now to even log in to UO, the sheer arrogance and incompetence of the company takes the whole fun part out of it. If they can't sort this mess out, it also means that I won't be able to buy game time from their website either - and if that becomes the case, I'll take the hint that my custom really isn't worth the effort of having.

I got the exactly same response from the support.ea.com team because I wrote them I would like to order my codes via support.ea.com (worked last time with UO:SA, because I wasn't able to buy it via online shops also). I get error #31 too, every time, and I tried to order it with IE/Firefox and Visa/MasterCard combinations (I'm located in Europe).

This time this... silly answer. Ordering codes really got anything to do with a server publish?! Come on... I would buy codes for 100$ but I won't put in wrong information just to be able to order codes from a website!

Too bad it doesn't work now, as I mailed with you, Calvin Crowner, before here on Stratics, exactly because of that problem... *sighs&shrugs*

In UO a creditcard is not enough, you need luck and determination to be able to pay for a buggy release.

Since busting UOGamecodes also takes away the place I use to buy game time, it's not just being able to pay for the buggy expansion that's about to become an issue...

Still, given the way customers are treated, I'm finding less and less enthusiasm to even log in and play, since mainly now UO is being associated with constant hassles, hopeless 'customer support' and endless technical problems in and out of the game. Maybe not being able to get gametime simply either will be the push I need to give it up.
