We need to stop feeding the Trolls People. Let's get back to working on the Classic Shard idea. The faster we get the Classic Shard idea finished, the faster we can be rid of them.
The Classic Shard idea already is done, we just need the devs to pay attention for once and read:


The Second Age era w/ necessary bug and glitch fixes
-Britannia and the Lost Lands
-Stat loss and long term murder counts for reds (stat loss on death)
-T2A Item system (Vanq/Ruin magic weapons, Invul/hardening magic armor, magic wands staves, jewelery, boots, capes, etc.)
-T2A skill and stat caps (700.0 skill point pool, 225 stat point pool)
-T2A magic system
-Stat and skill controls (IE ability to set skills/stats to raise, lower and lock)
-Chaos and Order Guilds with proper fixes (lord/lady requisites removed)
-Guild Stones
-more Stackable items (IE Potions)
-**Crafting Upgrades (See below)
-T2A housing and rule sets

**Crafting upgrades are as follows:

-Tailors will be able to make bone armor as well as repair it along with leather armor

-Bow crafters will be able to repair bows

-Carpenters will be able to craft all staff weapons as well as clubs and repair them along with wooden shields

-potential addition of Ilshenar later on.


-no runic tools
-no BoDs
-no character transfers, to or from classic server(s)

An AoS-free world. Sounds almost make-believe & magical. :)

I didn't remove server births. I think that had not been decided before the list went up.

For the record, I have no issue with server birth rares...never have. They don't affect game play.

they are on the other list, and were added a few days ago, because like you said they do not effect gameplay and they are HUGE to some people.

was wondering cause had to copied and pasted the list, it would have been on there, so I'm wondering if he has that list in notepad or if he removed that.

And also, I was for the most part picking on you, cause I figured you didn't notice those were missing ;)

I did notice that had it on res, I really think PKing should be something we need to figure out. Cause that's a pretty big group of people we need to attract, yet not let them ruin the server. I do like your idea in the other thread too.

Someone made the point that perhaps later (like a few years from launch) that people might get bored of the original lands and the Lost Lands. There was some discussion on which lands could be added...and somewhere in there it was said that Ilshenar would be the most acceptable of them all...if any.

Does not have to be Ilshenar... check out some UO tools to make new lands.. could hold a competition of who builds the most interesting lands and then add it to UO with EA then populating the lands....

why does adding land, or champ spawns mean item based?

I think there should be player contests to build new PvP grounds, almost all free shards have something cool like that added to the game. the duel pits and tournies are some of the most fun to me.

That 'pretty big group' won't stay long if they are not kept from driving their prey into leaving the shard. No prey, no fun, the PKers leave again.

I agree with you, but what's a good balance? people NEED to be afraid when they travel the lands, yet not to the point where it's no fun. Also PKs need fresh fish to eat, but again, not to the point it's always just a grief-fest

That pretty much goes in line with what most of us have been asking for. I think the problem is that we have already asked for it...a thousand times now, and some people are getting bored and just hypothesising about things they would like to see.

I think the core of it is pretty much as "classic" as you can get without actually using old code (which we have been told is impossible)...

A Red, when he finally dies, is unable to rezz for one day per kill since his last death. The total wouldn't include self-defense kills if he's the one attacked.

A successful PKer who got killed with a hundred murders on his record would be out of our hair for three and a half months. <g>

I'm very anti-PKer. The clowns in armor who would kill my normal clothing miner & logger, then dance around babbling how tough, manly, etc, etc, they were over the body left me with a very lousy opinion of such players.

There's a happy medium somewhere that most PKers and their prey can live with, but it will be to tame a penalty for me.

As long as I can have fun doing non-PvP Crafting things for my monthly fee between PK attacks, I'd play the shard to escape AoS. If the PK situation is so bad I can't have fun for my money between PK attacks, then I leave the shard.

At least with a skill-based shard my forager characters will be able to effectively defend themselves. :)

As I said in the other thread most of the PKers you speak of would now rather PvP in UO. So the majority of them will do Order/Chaos/ Guildwars and Anti-Pking.

Leaving the ones who don't want to PvP alone. There will still be pks to watch out for, but I don't believe it will be as crazy as some of you think.


You are right though, PvPers/Pks/Antis are going to be a big part of the playerbase and a huge target market for Crafters/Mules.

That came up in the Classic Shard thread. The PKers want no penalties, just all the prey they can get.

I wasn't surprised about that a bit. <chuckle>

1 or 2 people who probably didn't even play or PK in UO back then don't speak for the majority of the people who will play. There is a bout 10 active people commenting on stuff on this forum. Playerbase is going to be a lot bigger then that id imagine.
