There's a poll from Saturday asking which SA quests you've tried (http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=186034) and so far 64 people have replied. Now it's time to find out what else you've tried from the Stygian Abyss expansion and what you think of these other aspects of SA. What have you enjoyed, what's been a bust, and what would you like to see get some further tweaking or polish?

Give me a minute to add the poll choices and we'll be on our way!

There's quite a bit that I haven't done. I'm actually surprised.
I haven't trained imbuing because I have friends who have.
I haven't trained mysticism because of the lack of characters I'm willing to change.
I haven't trained throwing because I tried it in the beta and was disappointed.
I don't have any gargoyle characters because I like humans.
I haven't stolen anything, but have seen a lot of things to steal.
I haven't raised chickens or made baskets because I'm just not interested in it.

The hunting is something I enjoy and enjoy a lot of. The SA mini-spawns are a great step forward toward a dynamic spawn, but the reknowned are a bit too much with a bit too little reward to go with it.

I love the extras which go with the Primeval Lich Champion spawn, but the Abyssal Infernal champ crashed my SA client so much that I moved back to the classic client.

I was aggravated by the Stygian Dragon and the Slasher of Veils until I figured out that if you work as a team, they're not that hard.

The puzzle rooms were good for about a week, but they weren't the types of puzzles which I enjoy and they don't vary from attempt to attempt, so the solutions remain similar over time. Some of my friends really loved them until they reduced the reward for completing them.

Anyhow, that's all I have for you now.

I haven't done any of the things that you need a team for. I'm not very good in a team. I lose track of what's going on, worry about letting people down, not doing what they want me to do and generally get into a right 2&8. I haven't done the puzzles, I'm hopeless at puzzles.

Like Petra I dont play well with others! The only things I have not done are the Stygian Dragon/Medusa and have no plans to play the pvp parts (poor ping time )!
I do plan on trying to solo Medusa (waiting on 120 scrolls) Then maybe the Stygian dragon! (not that i expect to succeed)

I feel good I've achieved all those apart from training Mysticism or Throwing.

Certainly will try tackle Mysticism, Throwing still doesn't appeal to me. :(

My favorite pastime/venture is farming imbuing ingredients at the mini-champs. With the right template, any mini-champ is easily solo'd, which meshes with my play style. Lots of fun, a goal to work toward, makes me some money, and occasionally leads to new arties.

This poll should have included scroll binders. I have used those, though they have had the unintended effect of making it substantially more difficult to find starter 110 and 115 scrolls for key skills (i.e. magery and swordsmanship). Those that are available cost considerably more than pre-SA. I know I was one of those that expected 120 scroll prices to go down with the introduction of scroll binders. They didn't. Instead, 110 and 115 scroll prices went up. At least that is what I perceive to be the case.

Interesting poll Tina.

I think something else worth pointing out would be frequency.

For example: I've only crafted/imbued one cheesy gargoyle suit for the single character I turned into a gargoyle for the imbuing bonus. I only stole one item from the SA expansion. But I've hit many many Primeval Lich & Abyssal Infernal champ spawns as well as many of the Medusa, Navery peerless.

Some activities, past-times accessible with SA seem to be hit on once or so per player while others are repeated multiple times.

I'm surprised at the low feedback for the Throwing skill; even though I haven't trained it yet myself.

The devs must be dissappointed in that. :( An entire new skill with new wepaons and new artifacts and it is hardly being used.

Yeah, Obsidian, I would have put in an option the scroll binders if there had been room for one more option. I was glad to have that option for getting a 120 Imbuing power scroll. I'm not so sure the effects have been that great for other power scrolls and especially for getting stat scrolls.

Here is my feedback on the rest of the SA content listed in the poll:

I have three artificers started on three shards and one of them is almost to GM. One is in the mid-60s just from unraveling stuff and the other one is still hovering at 40 and hasn't been touched. While I think Imbuing has been helpful to many folks, I worry about what it might lead to, i.e., what else can you possibly add to the game to top it or is it going to be nerfed into oblivion once we all get hooked on it. I guess I should just stop worrying about stuff like that and enjoy it for what it is.

I haven't tried Mysticism yet, mostly for lack of time. Heck, I can't even finish training Spellweaving!

While I'd like to try Throwing, everything I've read about it makes me shy away from it and not want to waste time on training it.

I converted my smith/tailor on Sonoma to a gargoyle and started training Imbuing. I so dislike how she looks that I almost can't bear to look at her and thus Imbuing has gone nowhere on her. I made a new gargoyle on Baja to train imbuing and take tailoring/smithing from my existing crafter there and she too is collecting dust. I'm embarrassed to admit that the looks of a character are keeping me from playing it, but I'm afraid it's true. I just don't like the look of gargoyles or their gear. And I'm too much of a cheapskate to use up the race change tokens just to change those characters to human. I'd do a quest but won't waste those tokens unless/until we get either a quest or a way to purchase more race change tokens.

My luck in UO seems to be almost nonexistent (translation: The RNG hates my characters), so I have only made a handful of trips to the Font of Fortune to throw in lucky coins and of course have absolutely zip to show for those trips.

I love puzzles but still haven't gotten around to doing the "Room of Experiments" or whatever it's called (that seems to be the name used in the Pub 60 notes). I did try the puzzles off the "hallway of death" during the beta but never got around to trying them again after the expansion went live. After the SoT rewards were pulled, I couldn't ever get up enough interest to go try them. If I want a breadboard, I'll just go buy one, I guess.

Have solo killed Niporailem a few times and the reward isn't worth the effort. Haven't tried Navrey since the last publish hit Origin. Don't care for doing heavily camped stuff. Haven't tried the Slasher of Veils in a few month because it takes a group to do it and I haven't been on at the right times. Ditto for the peerless and the champ spawns. Have done one of the champ spawns and loved it (maybe because it was one of the very very few times I actually got an artifact), but haven't had the opportunity again since then.

I'm absolutely thrilled about the new gargoyle cloth armor and the throwing weapons to be able to make them to finish training tailoring and smithing. Haven't gotten around to making any of the deco stuff yet because my crafters aren't quite good enough to make them on the shards where I actually want that stuff. Someday though I would like to try making the mirrors and other deco stuff and some of the new furniture.

I've greatly enjoyed the non-peerless, non-champ spawn hunting in the Abyss, the Tomb of Kings, and above-ground Ter Mur. I think I'll be enjoying the mini champ spawns for quite a long time. Have done a fair amount of mining and lumberjacking in Ter Mur to get the crystal shards and crystalline blackrock. I can't say that I've enjoyed hunting in the Underworld all that much. Other than for purposes of collecting quests or collecting lucky coins (remember the RNG hates my characters), it just isn't challenging enough, I guess.

Haven't tried stealing anything, although I like the looks of some of the new stealables. I think one of the main reasons I haven't bothered is a silly notion I have that people have characters parked in the places where stuff spawns and are running scripts to grab the stuff, so it's probably pointless for me to try to do it just by running through periodically on the off chance I'll actually find something to grab. I'm sure I'm wrong that the situation is about as pathetic as it is for stealing in Doom and there's ample chance for everyone to grab the stuff. Perception, though, is sometimes hard to overcome, especially when it's negative.

Have raised battle chickens on two shards trying to get screen shots of all the lizard and egg colors and, frankly, got royally burned out on the whole process. Taking a break from it and maybe will go back to it at some point and try to actually train up some of those battle chickens. Forgot to add that I've also trained a number of the lowland and high plains bouras. Great pets for new tamer characters! Have also tamed a skree and need to finish training it to see what it does. My initial reaction to the skrees is that they are underpowered for being 4-slot pets.

Haven't tried making baskets yet other than doing it in the beta. I wish there were other more natural colors available for the baskets. But I love raising plants and killing silver serpents to make the new dyes for my characters and for guildmates to use. I like the new colors and being able to dye stuff without dropping a fortune on someone's vendor for the Tokuno dyes. The dyes and raising plants again have also been a great incentive for me to finish cooking and alchemy skills on a couple of shards where I'd started working the skills but had stalled out with the training.

Did/do/have done everything on the list except Throwing.. I also tried it in Beta.. hugely disappointing. I do have a character now training it up, (hugely disappointing) which I plan to soul stone immediately after the crafter uses it to get her 10k loyalty points.

All but stolen or harvested trees and such, and by the votes I can see why buying a dry ink well is so hard on ATL!

That's cool, I've done all of these checkable things. Actually, I played Beta so maybe I don't count, rofl, we did all these things before SA even went live ;P.

It's possible! It's insanely hard, hideously impractical and you'll fill a warehouse with death robes, but it's possible :D
Good luck!

About 50% I haven't done yet, and I am not in a hurry.
I'd actually consider to try Throwing, if it wasn't a skill limited to Gargoyles. Because none of my characters will be a Gargoyle. Ever.

Really loving the expansion so far.

Things I Have Done
I've done everything that involves killing things - all the mini-champs, champs, peerless, tomb of kings, underworld, Ter Mur. Of course, "killing things" notably excludes training throwing. Though, I have hopes that one day throwing will also kill things.

Trained imbuing/mystic, made gargoyle, and crafted gargoyle armor, as well. Did a couple puzzles.

Things I Would Like to Do
I need to farm some wood/ore in Ter Mur. I'd also like to grow seeds of renewal and create plant dyes . . . but processes that don't involve killing are usually pushed to the back burner.

Things I Probably Won't Do
I'm not keen on deco stealing, so I doubt I'll seek out any of the new stealables, unless to steal them from another player. I also won't raise battle chicken lizards, because . . . why?

What I have not done is basketweaving, chicken raising or the carpet tile quests.

Nor have I explored the world "above" other than Tel Mur proper and Tomb of Kings.

I spend far too much time in the Cavern beacuse it is nearly the sole source for so many vital Imbue ingredients, plus I also got two "SA artis" - Storm Caller throw weapon and Giant Step legs off Renowned Rat. I do geet a perverse thrill - often quite rewarding too - garbage picking amongst the Cavern's littered floor:)

I've stolen many of the stealables but now my thief is more gainfully employed stealing lanterns from Lizardmen!

I've done Stygian Dragon once (was lucky enough to have its "head" dropped in pack) but all died so often that my guild has never ventured there again :(

I did Narvey twice before the latest Pub, was disappointed by the loot vs time invested. I did Narvey on Pub Day morning - got a Tangle before they nerfed it:)

Medusa is great fun - and I have a hald dozen each of the ordianry arti drops (serp staff and stone tooth) and recently found a large Medusa statue
on corpse.

Made two new Gargs (Thrower and Macer) bought em as advanced char warrioe templates. Thrower at 105ish (ate 120 scroll though) - little time to play/train them. Looking forward to Throw changes...

IMBUING was my main objective, and still occupies alot of time even though I am finally 120:) Made a new garg char to get the 50 imbue/50 mystic start skills - soulstoned the skills and nuked the throwaway char. SS'd the Imbue to my Human Tinker/Smith and used Garg race change token so that I could max out Imbuing chances. You definitley need a strong supporting cast to get ingreds for imbuing:) Unless you have TONS of gold to buy them!

SS'd the Mystic to my elven mage/spellweaver - found a 120 Mystic scroll on a Vendor named "CHEAP Scrolls" - for 200K - in Luna, no less!!! Haven't seen a 120 Mystic for less than 10 mill since (on Legends shard). I love Mysticism - esp since Focus replaced Imbue as the complemenary skill! Currently 111ish - looking forward to the promised Mystic changes. May even consider change to Garg, if only because the Mystic enhancing artis are all Garg of course!

Enjoying SA !
