Im gonna guess here but im guessing maybe 15 people on these boards that posts would quit SP but how many hundreds would join?Sometimes you gotta loose a few to gain many...
Because it hasn't been...I dunno why everyone continues to cry for a new shard even after its been shot down by the big guy

We had a Saturday lunch recently (the same method we used when we were developing for Stygian Abyss), and discussed the benefits and costs (resource and impact to community) for developing a Classic shard. First we discussed what does a Classic Shard really mean? We came up with some core ideas and left it at that. There are several other things surrounding the implementation, and we almost have it nailed. Will we do it? I don’t know and cant’ say for certain, but at some point we will put the idea to rest one way or another, and we hope to make that decision this year.
Well since that quote from your post came 3 days before his post on the subject.....Because it hasn't been...
Which post are you referring to? I see that you linked to a post on 2/15 where Cal mentioned why they aren't considering server merges, but nowhere did he state that the classic server option was off the table.Well since that quote from your post came 3 days before his post on the subject.....
I wouldn`t hold your breath.
Back when they had the very first town hall meeting in Los Angeles, which was about 4-5 years ago, someone asked the question along the lines of would they ever build a pre-tram shard. Their response was "depends on the interest. How many people would play on a pre-tram shard" and at that point I'd say about 1/2 the people in the town hall raised their hands. At that point they were like, ohh wow, this is something we should look into.Because it hasn't been...I dunno why everyone continues to cry for a new shard even after its been shot down by the big guy

Then let it kill siege. What do you care anyway? You'll be on the classic server living it up. I'd rather play siege at any population than a classic server, and I see no benefit to anyone in wiping siege for one. It wouldn't make people who wanted siege to stay how it was stick around (why would they?) but it would ruin those peoples fun, for no discernible reason.IMO a shard addition would destroy seige's population beyond repair anyhow.
Thats fine, but why wipe siege? That makes no sense what so ever. I'd I would be willing to bet that the fun of a classic server wont be as great as most people think it will be. Maybe for pvpers... but thats it.Im gonna guess here but im guessing maybe 15 people on these boards that posts would quit SP but how many hundreds would join?Sometimes you gotta loose a few to gain many...
Actually, crafting in the old days was awesome. Everyone used GM stuff and crafters used to hang at the Brit forge and repair equipment, make new stuff, and generally socialize. It was a blast and crafters made a killing.Thats fine, but why wipe siege? That makes no sense what so ever. I admit Yew can be can be rough on me at times but I still enjoy being in Yew. I love how Yew can take a serious pounding from me, like when the blackthorn invasion was in the area , and Yew will just come back for more. I also enjoy those big thick Yew logs. All I wanna know is would I loose my Castle in Yew?????
That would make up my mind....lol

In a nutshell, id definitely set up my sausage vendor in the back of Yew (Empath Abbey) any time.

I know, I was there. I spent most of my time at the brit forge. But thats then, and this is now, and things have changed, I feel. I like that crafting is more involved and diversified, and like I've said, I think the vast majority of the mystique of the classic shard is in a desire to recapture what UO was once like. I'd put down big money that a classic rule set would not accomplish this.Actually, crafting in the old days was awesome. But yes, no reason to wipe Siege.

Yew forgot about all the gerbils that live to the south! They use hollow trees as a rear entry to Yew.Yea I know the feeling a got a big place in Yew myself. I'm starting to think I'm the last one on the shard...Need to attract those farmers you guys hate so much. Ya know.... people who like to play in dungeons and get gold and items.
Speaking from my own experience,I never go to the popular spots.Haven`t been to SA yet(well did do some Bora farming) since I can farm the old lands or Ilsh unimpeded. I personally don`t mind the down turn in population since I play more of a loner anyways. I`m free to roam dungeons and hit up places I`d normally stay away from. There must be people playing because I`ve made millions off Ginsu`s place and have to restock almost daily.I'm starting to think I'm the last one on the shard...
No not anymore...I'm starting to think I'm the last one on the shard...

Aloow players to trade their vet rewards and soul stones in for reward choices.
Make rot not apply to magery, archery, crafts, and taming just as it was when the server was created.
Obliterate every facet except t2a and the old britannia.
Replace factions with hero/evil and chaos/order.
Keep the no sell to npcs
Drop 3x vendor prices
Dbl the daily rot caps or make the rot caps per skill rather than a cummulative of all skills like it is now.
Half the rot timers
Allow housing to be placed here on the condition it must be refreshed if not marked as the primary house which of course woudl result in the prodo house dropping.
I would not shed one tear and would happliy re-roll a char here while shfiting as much of my prodo garbage as I could onto another server.
