Hi all,

After a few months of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole when it comes to farming certain stuff I’ve finally decided to start a Sampire. I’m not really in any high end guild right now so I need to be able to do things myself as well as with others. Sampire fits that bill well for me.

I’m probably gonna start with something similar to the player who wanted to create a Sampire for 1 mil or less because I want to see how useful and how often I’ll play it before I begin gearing it up. With that said I have some questions at the end, if anyone could be so kind to answer. Feel free to comment on spec also.

I’m probably going to go with a template similar to this:

120 weapon (+26 from jewels, leaving me 3 slots open on rings for other stuff)
110 Tac (+26 from jewels, leaving me 3 slots open on rings for other stuff)
99 Necro (is there any need to go higher?)
100 Spirit (any need to go higher, does it increase curse weapon dmg?)
110 Bush
110 Parry
80 Chiv (heard it was the magic #)
--

Leaves me with 23 spare skill pts to bump up Bush, Parry, or Tactics later to 120 if I decide to shell out for those expensive scrolls.

Questions

1. How much mana should you have (combined from int, and item bonuses) as a Human? You don’t get the 20 Mana increase elves do; and obviously you need enough to cast Vampire form. But what’s a good range to shoot for so you can also have enough for your weapon specials, bushido, and chiv?

2. Anatomy raises your damage and thus increases life back, however spirit speak allows you to double-lifetap by also casting curse weapon. You have the added bonus of being able to wither and destroy low level spawns. You can spirit heal through mortal, blood oath and all that good necro stuff. That seems very attractive to me, is Spirit really the better/more flexible choice? Can the curse weapon be ‘resisted’, and how does its additional life leech stack up to the extra damage from Anatomy? I am aware Connor swaps his out on soulstones, I have one soulstone but probably would not do that on a regular basis due to the character swapping involved.

3. Is there any reason you wouldn’t want to go swordsmanship, when swords has Whirlwind? I’ve always liked fencing, but it seems like whirlwind would be really cool to have as a sampire. If I can hit 20 things all with mana back I would be able to stay alive so well. I saw someone with that 100 hit area poison weap the other day and that looked pretty cool too though!

4. What other reasons besides potions and if you have the items and dex/stam to reach the minimum swing speed are there to decide between 1h w/no shield, and 2h? I understand that the most important factor is to be at the swing cap (1.25) so you get the most lifetaps possible.

5. What does increasing your bush do for you? I can lightning strike at lower levels; is the chance and damage of crits increased?

Thanks for your help, this should be enough for me to get in troub… oops get started with :)

1. Bare minimum is enough to cast all of your special moves twice. I have a lower limit of 35 mana, but more is better.
2. Anatomy helps you kill things faster as well. You aren't swinging while you're using spirit speak, which means you're potentially losing life by using spirit speak instead of leeches. But double or triple leeching is a great thing to have. The call is yours, which works better?
3. You can make great kama now too. And against hard hitting creatures, leaf blade is superior to radiant scimitar. I have a fencer sampire now (first one of that kind) and I use a leafblade and a UBWS radiant scimitar as my primary weapons.
4. If you're at the swing cap, it doesn't matter if you're one handed or two handed unless you use potions. 4a: USE POTIONS!
5. 120 bushido critical hits once every 5 hits. At 100 bushido, you critical hit once every 6. In a long fight, that adds up a lot. You also see improvements in evasion, perfection and confidence. But the main thing is the extra damage for a relatively small skill investment (20 points in this case)

What makes the leafblade superior to radiant scimitar?

I know its a hard hitting, fast 1-hander.. is that it?

I thought of something today, JOAT + Swords + Axe = Lumberjacking Dmg bonus

I went through all my random loot im saving to unravel and the nicest 1 hander I found was a lowly hatchet. lol. It had several DPS higher than some of the fancier weapons and didn't have much on it

i didnt get that either at first. im assuming Use Best Weapon Skill.

I made a pimp ass macro for my sampire on the EC. She's only got 50 swords/40ish tactics and she's beating para ettins, regular cyclops/titans, even multiple mobs beating on her. this is insane

Does a Sampire really even need chiv? I've got it trained to 65 and locked (stoned it from another toon), I dont use it at ALL. well ok I sacred journey'd a few times

My opening macro does this:

f1: Seek next enemy target
f2: Honor, auto attack, Curse weapon, Confidence, Lightning strike

After that I just make sure I keep Conf and LS up and running and I do quite well. No Enemy of one, no consecrate.. nothin

Maybe Chiv is needed for the higher stuff? I dunno. At what time did your Chiv become necessary?

This is crazy. lol

With Enemy of One, you can double the damage done against a single type of mob - basically, it makes you (for example) a Balron Slayer, while everything else deals bonus damage to you. That's the main thing you'll want Chiv for - although I'm debating dropping healing and putting some more points in Chiv for the emergency heals from that. My only superb weapon so far is the Soul Taker (Soul Seeker? One or the other) which is Repond, so lethal to me around undead. That means fighting anything else requires me using a weapon which lacks Hit Life Leech - I've been healing a lot on stuff.

Mind you, I'm not max parry/bush/swords yet, which may well help with that, and I need more DCI/HCI/DI on my set.

But technically if you had the right slayer(s) you could reach max (300%) damage without needing enemy of one? It sure would be a pain in the ARSE to carry around 10 slayer weapons though, so I suppose Enemy of One would be easier.

How much Chiv do you really need?

And do you really only use it for the super tough stuff like dreadhorn etc?

im not using it at all now. Used it to cure a couple times last night.

I stoned off swords and bought 40 fencing, at 45 fencing 45 tac using that 100% poison aoe kryss from Doom I got last night I was owning a level 1 rikktor spawn last night. haha

Then I got tired of the melee and switched to wraith form and just withered. seems very flexible template, however im not sure what it'll be like for high end mobs.

my goal is to be able to solo spawns, champs, and peerless bosses

That's *if* the creature has a slayer. Most Peerless don't.

and Consecrate weapon is a must for monsters that have really high resists in your weapon's damage type.
100% phys vs Succubi is a good example

If u wanna solo peerless, champs, and doom, your gonna need chiv period.....Enemy of One and Cons. Weapon u might now not use a lot. But once u start soloing Dreadhorn, doom, and start wanting to farm honor(i see u have spirit speak and use curse weapon) your gonna see how important just those 2 spells r
