How would people prove they served in the military? Seems a bit outlandish.
EA didn't have any way of knowing who was in the military and who wasn't, they just shut off refreshing for those of their players who were in the military, a kind of good will gesture. How would people prove they served in the military? Seems a bit outlandish.
i do this sometimes, next house saving time will be start soon(assumed EC is still BETA).People only reactivating their accounts every 3 months for 1 month to save their house
You don't have to manually turn the account off... just don't pay them. Remove your billing info... have a card bounce... anything like that. I once forgot to update my card with their site... it expired... and I almost had my account suspended. They sent me... like 5 emails... one every day starting when they went to pre=charge.I thought the issue is that you have to turn off your acct using the webpage, which de-activates your acct and sets the clock on your house(s). Those welcome back accts never had their owners use the webpage, so they never got de-activated.
And yes, it was after 9/11 when the manual refresh was turned off because so many players were sent to Afghanistan.

i´ll go back to 1 acc open every 2 month for house saving
and if EA change this 90day period, what will be the result?
many "house saver" acc. will get closed for ever.
do you realy think UO need another 20-30% acc. loss ?
6x 30d gtc7y is more then 0x gtc/y , right?![]()
You're right it is an annoying and ridiculously long-standing bug. You do realize that if you placed these houses years ago, that there have been like 3 WBTB promotions since then. You could just as easily, during the promotion, login and drop the houses.this is a pretty ridiculous bug. I have like 30 accounts and I placed houses on all of them just for fun assuming they would fall in 95 days. these houses have been standing for many years.

the point is these houses should be collapsed because they are bugged. has nothing to do with whether there are spots available or not.Do ya need a house? I find large spots all the time in the most populated shard? Have ya being looking?
Many things are bugged. Those houses aint gonna have anything of value so idoc hunters are out of luck. Can't even tell which house is which. I activate my unused accounts once every 3 months to keep extra houses. Im pretty sure the dev are aware of the issue. So in reality who really cares unless they can't find a spot. If they can't I'll be happy to help them find one.the point is these houses should be collapsed because they are bugged. has nothing to do with whether there are spots available or not.
what, like the reveal spell being too loud? Many things are bugged.
nope, sorry, the point is not that idoc hunters need something. and I will say it for a second time, it is not because people can't find a spot. try again. Those houses aint gonna have anything of value so idoc hunters are out of luck. I got it it's because it's bugged. But am sure there smart enough to know that and if and when they do something it will be up to them on there schedule. Till then oh well it's not a life changing thing.what, like the reveal spell being too loud?

nope, it's not, but the way to get things to happen when it comes to UO is to raise the issue. i'm sure you realize they don't fix things randomly.I got it it's because it's bugged. I have, and several probably have...Has anyone put this question forth in the "Ask the Devs" forum/thread?
What's sad is that even with all these WBTB houses all over, as well as the owned by OSI ones too, there is still space to put down more houses all over all the shards. I play Pacific and in the last two weeks, I've filled up two rune books, in Tram only, with spots for a house. Included are many spots for an 18x18. I imagine it's the same in Fel.i have to say, i hate that there ARE these house, but at the same time i was one of the ones that figured it out in the beginning and am now sitting on 12 of them scattered on a number of shards.
so im caught in the middle.
it sucks, yes, but it gives me access to play on other shards that i normally wouldnt have had.
Well, maybe they intended it to be that way... to populate other shards.i have to say, i hate that there ARE these house, but at the same time i was one of the ones that figured it out in the beginning and am now sitting on 12 of them scattered on a number of shards.

Well, sounds like it would be easy to implement a script that works for the promotion-placed houses then...Same boat at Poo.
...
The problem is that they decay houses by running a script that looks for accounts that hit the 90 day inactive mark each day. When run - it marks their houses for decay and they start the cycle. Well, if you place the house during RTB - then you account was never 'active'. So when the script runs - your account was inactive 360 days or whatever - never exactly 90. They did this as a cheap programming tactic because if they did 90 or GREATER then it would keep setting houses in decay back to state one. It is poor programming but a 'feature' that many vets enjoy with old accounts.
Same boat at Poo.
I have several houses on other shards with Return to Brit accounts that I use for my 'home away from home'.
If you shut these off, I'll have to try to stuff all this crap in my bank boxes its or just toss it. There will be nothing to idoc.
I terms of house space - one of the shards is an overseas shard. I have an 18x18 house that could be SURROUNDED by 18x18's as no one and I mean NO ONE plays that shard.
I really think each acct should be allowed 2-3 houses in UO provided they are not on the same shard. There is no way I'd pay for 5 accounts to hold all these houses but I do enjoy playing other shards.
Honestly if you saw all these houses drop it would immediately become apparent how few people actually play this game anymore. You will have huge swaths of open housing on all shards. Only maybe Pac and Atlantic would get swallowed up.
As it is now you can place max storage houses on GL.
Devs if you fix this - just give us some heads up on it.

I sure liked the return to brit to pick up the extra gifts and some vet rewards. I got access to some friends accounts that had vet rewards and claimed like 20 crystal portals on GL. Those sell like hot cakes for 5m each. LOL.
RTB is a huge money maker! For me at least......
And so EA should drop the RTB houses so you can drop all yours - place a castle and close like 5 accounts? How would that help them?Actually my point is that I've lost 720$ holding houses waiting for a dinky plot that was placed in the middle of them to fall. Actually one account was just re-upped. 780$ now.
I didn't write the crappy code - i just play the game.So you're saying, in essence, that you're part of the problem
Not all shards have the housing space that you refer to in your post and these WBTB houses are just a way for ppl like you to cheat the system.
No. Absolutely not.Pretty simple to resolve this problem, use the feature that was originally built in for housing.......Bring back Manual Refresh!
What crack are you on?By the way, when a house drops now nothing falls to the ground. House decaying waiting is long gone.
You are a consistent and accurate poster.I've decided I'm with Theo on this one. If they don't fix this by the next Return to Britannia promotion I'm placing six more houses on my inactive accounts.
Well, you are arguing against us and with yourself at this point.I didn't write the crappy code - i just play the game.
The only shards that *might* have a housing problem in the US are Altantic and Pacific. All the rest are a joke. You can spend 30 min and place a max storage house. I've found at least 30 of these plots in the past 6 months on Great Lakes.
I'd prefer they'd give us more space to store stuff and I wouldn't need these extra homes or more than 1 per account provided diff shards. I don't want to pay for 6 accounts to play 6 shards if I want a house on the shards. That will never happen.
Why play diff shards? Each shard has differnt community and time zones for EM events etc.
Nothing is going to be done about it... is what I am beginning to believe.
Huh?Last night at 9:00 PM I set out on Pacific on my sole alternate account to place another home. I currently have a small wizard tower (8x7) placed with this second account on Atlantic.
(That house is for sale by the way, a beautiful location right on the road just north of the Skara/Brit crossroads.)
I dared not do this double placement on my primary account due to the grandfathered homes across 5 shards.
Anyway, this post is beginning to wander. Much like my attempt to test the multiple shard theory.
SO!
I logged on Camthalion and prepared to depart the Olde Schula Tower (16 x 14) on Pacific when I noticed an ettin wandering down the coast toward my home.
As poor Camthalion is a mere beginning Miner/Smith (destined for olde schula PvP mining) his weapon skills simply aren't. So the battle raged back and forth for a few minutes.
Then I decided Camthalion needed a better weapon. I logged him out and logged in the GM Smith who is being leveled to Legendary. As I went through her packs I noticed her ingot supply was low and so decided to recall around seeking ingots from NPCs at reasonable prices.
Well this led to having to go back and forth between the bank, the tower and different cities. I eventually made a GM Kryss for Camthalion and decided he needed one with Spell Channeling (SC). So I logged out the Smith and logged in the Mage to go farm Rune Beetles for an SC fencing weapon.
After three weight trips to the bank and a few sacks of unraveling gear I noticed the Tower chests getting full.
I logged the Smith back in the Unravel the items. Then I noticed that her weight and storage was excessive and decided to transfer the gems and Unraveled components from the Tower to the Bank.
Once in the Bank I saw a rune to a vender that claimed to have SC weapons. (Still had not found a suitable one for Camthalion) and Recalled to that location.
It was full of overpriced junk very similar to what I have just Unraveled. I ran around the immediate area but no other suitable venders immediately available. Then the wolfhound (pictured in my avatar) wanted to go outside...
After returning I noticed it was now 11:00 PM and I decided I had better get some sleep before awaking at 6:00 for work the next morning.
There you have it. An adventurous and wandering night of not actually placing another home on Pacific to see the affect (if any) on the Atlantic small Wizards Tower (which is still for sale by the way. And it is a great vender location.)
...the adventure continues.
