EA has a big franchise in Ultima but instead of a new RPG, or even a good strategy game if that was what they were going for, they give us a web based game that has nothing to do with Ultima besides the name.....

Garriot needs to buy the franchise back.
Probably this... sometimes if feels like some people would like us to go away, so they can close the servers without a second thought.

Anyone else seen this yet? Someone posted it this morning to the Pac forums...

That may be true. Others will try this game. Perhaps folks that played the old single player Ultima games. Maybe folks that played UO and do not any longer.

Just for the record there are more players playing Travian on the .US server then UO has for the entire game. That is 9 servers total.........and then there are 80+ more servers in different parts of the world the .AE servers alone have between 500k-750k users........ thats 22ish servers.......
Travian is far from a failing game!
Then wait till the ads roll out for Imperion... Another Travian Games game.......

I'm not sure how I feel about that, except, if it is a free to use game for basic purposes, I'm sure a lot of people create an account, realize the microtransaction scam gameplay will cost them loads of money, then quit, but leave their account open since it doesn't cost them anything. Or in the case of social networking, join to help a friend through referral, then never use the game themselves.

Well, I tell ya, there are plenty of people who love to go to Vegas and lose all their money, why not play a microtrans game and cut out the gasoline costs? Except, instead of giving the money to Vegas, might as well give the money to China. Sure, if that's what you're into. Everyone has their own interests.

And NetDragon is also working on another Ultima MMO... wonder why the push lately to bring the IP back?
Garriott certainly seems to care. He still talks about Ultima occasionally and I'd be willing to bet you money that he would take it back if he could.

He's said many times he's like to do more Ultima games, online or singleplayer was not specified.
He has plenty of money, My guess is he'll wait until EA is so strapped for cash that they'll sell the franchise for 10% on the dollar. I don't think that day is far away considering how 'well' EA is doing.
I have said this exact thing many a time.... I'm convinced that EA is trying to drive UO into the ground and "force" the player base to quit by making horrendously stupid maneuvers and adding hideous content... horrid graphics and "new" clients that are just plain useless. They continually FAIL to do right by the players time and time again.... and I believe it's done on purpose.
Lets do away with the QA department all together why don't we! We don't need them... we're awesome.... we can program anything no bugs at all.... lets put that publish straight out... no need to test that....
Oppps..... ooppps.... omg..... Ooops..... oh well..... lets recollor this item call it this and put it out.... that'll keep everyone happy... and make them forget our promise, screw-up.... lack of communication.... whatever....
You know after they fired a whole bunch and did away with our FoF and told us they were using this new thing here... at first it seemed ok.... but here we are weeks later and you know.... at least with stupid answers to dumb questions..... at least before we WERE getting 5 stupid answers a week rather than less than 5 answers in over a MONTH.
And I'm fed up with all the pom pom wavers and their BS excuses for EA/DEV's..... no excuses... I'm a person of action... and actions speak volumes to me... I see little action of late.

Well if this new Ultima game is rooted in the States somehow, I might give it a look, I just don't trust all these web apps and stuff because they all take your information (cookies; should they be used via MySpace and Facebook) for marketing and their viral campaigns. Makes me want to watch "Mad Men!"

I played Travian with a huge group for about a year and a half casually, we were one of the biggest multi-alliance alliances on our server, and maybe two of us ever paid for anything, and were mostly laughed at when they did.

If this thing brings in more actual UO players by raising Ultima franchise awareness, then well and good. But if it just sucks in more browser-potatoes and does nothing for the legacy, then I'd rather they used another name.

Would be nice to at least see some screenshots of this thing in action so we at least know exactly what it is we're comdemning.
At most I see maybe getting some nice remixes or revamps of old Ultima music out of this, and even that would be a big stretch. At least they're not just pasting an inappropriate remix of Stones (which we eventually got in UO for no good reason) into a generic (and bad) dungeon crawler RPG for DS again..
