I hadn't heard about the nerf so I tested it. I jumped a few dozen swoops tonight. I have several excellent GD's on various chars and one really really excellent one.
I didn't have any problems killing the swoop. I didn't have any problems healing the GD magically without using aids. PVM is about time basically. After you get past the "oh I just killed" insert whatever mob it is in this spot it comes down to how fast can you do it. It takes over a minute longer per swoop. It might even take 2 mins longer on some of them.
This might not even be noticeable for most people, but for me it means the GD's and the Swoop are done for a while. I saw the pvp people complain over and over about the bunch of tamers that kept killing them. I feel for them. but those same people will just find some other way of doing the same thing. That stuff will never change. Honestly, I make waay more money with mages than tamers anyway.
The trick to this game is very simple. You put a LOT of time in your chars. Then, you play whatever char is in power at that time. You put a LOT of money in your equipment, then you can be successful in whatever else you're doing.
The developers will always do something to keep you unbalanced from whatever you are doing. It comes back to the theory of the game they use as a model.
In conclusion the nerf isn't all that bad for the casual player.
