I cannot get the edge of the carpet to go down. if it could be lower using the tool then it would be ok.

This is the new carpet from the carpet quest in the gargoyle lands

The railing along the stairs blocks you there, it uses the tiles you want to put your carpet edge on.

I thought the patch notes said you couldn't walk on the carpets? *confused*

Yeah, what gives? Not that I'm complaining.. I was a tad upset when I read we couldn't walk on them. I know what I'll be doing tonight! (besides getting more silver serp venom for my stains!!)

Can you place it on a goza first?
Ya I tried that first when this happen, still threw them in the air as you see them. And the deco tool is useless here. I sent in a bug report with the picture. At 2am I saw there was no need to call a GM as I would have fallen asleep at the PC waiting for him to send me a can reply to go to some link at the WWW. I'm just going to leave them as is and wait to see if they fix this where a deco tool can be used.

Well if i ever get my self a house to do my tutorials I can give you a fix for this =) until then have fun with the new poorly thought out content inspired by folks like me =) sorry it just irks me that they add things like this in and don't even understand how there own game works well enough to make it work for people...

What kind of message do you get when you try to lock the rug down? If you can lock it down, you should be able to use the tool on it.

you do not lock these down by saying "I wish to lock this down", what happens is you lay the piece down and the double click to lock it in place. To release it is the same, you double click it. Had this been where you lay it out and say the magic words "I wish to lock this down", and the deco tool to fix would have saved me a lot of woe.

I still have those same pieces in the air and sent in a bug report with hopes that maybe they fix this someday.

the NPC with the rug quest is just up some stairs north of the open air market, the building he is in houses a tailor and a tanner

Atlantic Vlad, couldn't you just write up a fix for this for Drakelord?

I understand that, I figured it would be like a deed to double click to set it down. There are things you can lock down even tho you have already double clicked them into your house (some add ons). My question was really, have you tried to use the lockdown command on the rug pieces and then the deco tool?

BTW if nothing else works you can place furniture that runs to the edge of the ground over where the carpet goes. You'll have to lower it of course since it pops on top of the wooden railing. But a row of decorative boxes or maybe some short armoires or something would cover up the "bald" spot nicely.

I've no where to demonstrate it and I doubt my text descriptions would help most of you. Besides my laptops in the shop and I'm now feeling even more meh. I apologize for the rut I've been in folks and assuming UO doesn't die in the next few weeks after this mess of an expansion which I honestly can't rate to well not having it... Then in time I promise to give you all my knowledge maybe sooner then later I've been debating tearing apart my homes and selling my things off doing my tutorials and leaving uo... but that's probably a phase...

Feel free to pm me though with direct problems and if I have some time I can try and help. Still bugs me that they didn't test this crap enough to know they had a problem before releasing it seriously its simple mechanics of there housing that led to this don't they think anything through?

Skipping over reading the comments, but it's the castle railing that's making it do that.

Only suggestion I have, and it's unlikely to work, is put a 0 vertical axis size item (like campion flowers) on the tile and try to place the carpet directly on them.

Or, if you just drop the carpet on the tile you want it to go instead of targetting the tile use the break-a-wood-box-with-the-item-in-it trick.
And even if you are supposed to target the tile, you might want to use the box trick and lock it down the regular way.

YOU GENIUS! :D The wooden box breaking trick does it, why didn't I think of using such a simple staple of house deco :) Thanks!

Good thinking thats a good method around that sometimes I forget my basics and make things to complicated but ya good thinking... Mind you I also don't have the expansion or any of these rugs to work with so I did zero testing I was just gona do what I did last time I did rugs there pre handy carpeting...

I will try that break a wood box as soon as possible, thanks.

My complaint with the new carpets is not being able to place things on top of them.... I mean seriously? They are carpets!! Sure... you can place something down.. raise it... put carpet piece under and lower it; however, when building a rune library it isn't possible to have a carpet under it. You can place one wooden bench... raise it... place carpet... lower bench.. place a book on bench... but then you are not allowed to place another wooden bench on top.

Anyone know if there are plans to fix the carpets so that things can be placed on top of them?

try a goza sq? I have yet to do so myself, but plan on replacing the stuff I took up to put the carpet down one of these days.

Draconi posted a clarification that the "can't put things on them/walk on them" meant that you can't use them for the deco tricks you can do with gozas. So you can't put things on them and break them, and you can't make magic stairs and walk up them. They just sit on the floor.

that was most probably the intention, but the reality is that you cannot place *anything* on those rug sections.... we tried last nite dropping everything in our packs onto a completed rug, and nothing will go down

getting all your deco in order, locking them down and raising them up, then setting the carpet tiles underneath may work, I've not tried it.... fact is, I'm having more fun with those borderless goza!
