Started getting my stuff together for imbuing. Saw that I needed parasitic plant as an ingredient.

Now I have been playing for 10 years or more, gave up my lumberjack many years ago. So went shopping for parasitic plant. None... I looked at every vendor on Luna, and couldn't find any vendors any where else in the land except for marble island. No parasitic plant.

No problem, decided to start a lumberjack. Soulstoned a skill off one of my toons to make room. Went to town, bought 30 skill, made myself some hatchets with my tinker. Equipped said hatchet and tried to cut a tree down. System message: "you can't use an axe on that". Hmmm. tried every way I can think of to cut the darn tree, and many others with same result.

Came to stratics to see what it was that I was doing wrong. Lots of info about lumberjack skill except for the crucial HOW DO YOU DO IT?

Please someone.... let this poor noob know. And by the way how many million trees do I have to cut to get some parasitic plant?

1 do you have circle of transparency on?
2. are you in a jungle area? There are some jungle trees that can't be chopped. I have the problem in the area south of Trinsic and on Jhelom.

Parasitic plants are some of the more common 'rare' resources from trees. You need to be GM lumberjack for those. Better dont count the trees that you need for that ....

As for the rest:
Which client are you using? the classic one (2D) or one of the newer ones?
Lumberjacking with the nwer ones is really comfortable. Just create a macro for it. Strat within the macro with 'target by resource' and drop your axe into the field that pops onto yopur screen by this action. You can even choose to reapeat that macro multiple times. The advantage for that is, that you wont need to target any trees for whacking them any longer.

To the OP, are you targeting the leaves of the tree? In Fel, you have to turn on the "show leaves" somehow, don't know how off hand.

With this "target by resource", how does that work with special woods like Frostwood? Aren't those rare woods limited to specific trees?

No, special materials are flagged on the whole 8x8 area not just a specific tree, so they can be happily chopped by "target by resource".

Wait until you are trying to come up with 5 or more brilliant amber. Those things are RARE! But, I hope they keep the drop rate the same. Its one of the only rare ingredients you don't need a fighter to get. How rare is it? Well, everyone here will vouch for how rare frostwood is now (I think), and I've chopped 4k frostwood boards (not even counting the other colors) and only received 3 brilliant amber.

You may have left before Delucia the town was introduced.

There is a clump of trees near the Entrance to the Tunnel/Cave that connects Delucia Trammel/Felluca South and a bit West of Trinsic. You can get a set of coordinates and a Radar picture of the entrance (Trammel/Felluca side) from the Cities and Towns part of the Atlas here on Stratics.

They tend to be a good place to LJ and if need be, Banks and Merchants are near by.
