SA 2 New Champ Spawns and Draconi clarification: Anyone knows more ?

After reading the threads and Draconi replies to many players' concerns, I gave it some thinking and some things just are not clear to me.

When clarifying the interview we have been reading about, Draconi talks about the 2 new Champion Spawns added to Stygian Abyss which are PvP areas and mentions that for imbuing, at first they were thinking to add some ingredients which would have spawned there but on a second thought they scrapped that idea.

Thank Gawd, because if imbuing is directed to crafters as my understanding is it is, it sounds very odd and not much "role playing" that crafters were expected to enter PvP areas and engage in PvP to get with their business going.......

Anyways, that comment got me thinking though that perhaps the 2 New Champion Spawns coming with Stygian Abyss will not be a Power scrolls drops as those in felucca but different things will spawn from them ?

If so, what will they spawn ? Anything which might be "required" for other game play coming with Stygian Abyss ?

Has anyone done them in beta who can comment on them with more detailed informations ?

Let it die!.......... lol seriously though we won't get much more clarification on some of the stuff in the interview until Calvin is ready to make the official announcement and that won't be until after SA launches apparently so........ might as well chill and enjoy the game until then.

Wow, I am SIMPLY asking more informations from PLAYERS who have done the beta and run those Champion Spawns to hear what is the actual deal about them......

Does not sound that terrible thing to ask to me.........

On topic, the latest Draconi's post says :

"* The Champ Spawn areas are separate content, that have Trammel-ruleset entrances inside the Stygian Abyss dungeon. They cannot be entered accidentally. They will not be confused as PvE content."

Separate Content ?

Separate as to what ? To each other ? To the content that is in the Felucca Champion Spawns ?

Bottom line is, what is the actual deal with these 2 Champion Spawns ?

I think Draconi's running in circles around his desk. I feel for him, I really do. But the cats out of the bag and causing havoc.

If so, what are they and where will they needed ?

I am merely trying to understand from those who tested them what is the deal about them.

ROFL I'm being good today. Will not post back to Popps, but I will say this... can someone pleeeeeeeeeese take away his posting rights or just lock the posts as soon as he posts them????? I have a feeling if someone explains it a thousand times he will either not get it or find something to complain about. Its obvious, hes not happy with anything dealing with Fel or powerscrolls.

Sorry for making yet another thread, but I felt it was important and did not want it to get unnoticed within one of the existing threads.

You clarified very well (thank you) that the 2 new PvP Champ areas will have very clear entry points and a warning message that will need to be accepted before one can enter them.

Can I please dare to ask that you add another feature which could turn out important to actually have players be more willing to get into there ?

Random spawn points for players after they accept the warning message.

This, to avoid that pkillers may simply camp the one or few entry points there could be, and kill players as they get in.

The random entry points should be many, so many that no pkiller farmer group could possibly camp them all and take all players right as they get in.

Even better, if at entrance players were to be hidden for a short while until their connection and computer catches up with the new scenario.

And even further better, if there can be a feature for groups to enter all together at once.
This way an ambush at entry could not be possible.

Popps, have you ever gone through the teleporter in Fire to Despise? or the teleporter in Despise to Destard?

Well now imagine another teleporter, just exactly the same, in one of those old dungeons, only this one goes to a new champ spawn - just like the others, but with different monsters and a different champ, and it's in a different dungeon, the Stygian Abyss.

Since I remember also the (in) Famous "Yew Gate" and all of the camping there to player kill those who got out of it, do you think that these gates will allow for camping to player kill those who get out of them or are they ok to exit from ?

My concern is that these fixed entry points may be used to abush players trying to access the new areas before they even have time to reliaze where they have arrived......

Have you tried it yourself? If I wanted to know more about it, I'd hop in and try it myself. Sounds logical to me.
Seems like you want everybody else to do the work for you.

Well...you make a toon, go to the main teleport gate room, and teleport to the spawn areas, either the demon or lich champ. Both champ spawns are fel side. You kill stuff until the champs pop. You kill the champs. Does this answer your question, "What are these champs about?"

Well, but also the pkillers would need to randomize all over the place since they have no idea where the entrying people could spawn...

There should at least be an option to allow a group to be able to entry all at the same time.

The problem is that the fight start is not the same for both parties.

Those who are entering the area need to have their connections and computers catch up with the new location.

The player killers already there, instead, are ready for action.

Therefore, unless something is done to prevent these ambushes those already in the area will always have an advantage and strike as first whomever is entrying.

This does not spell right for a good PvP..........

There needs to be a balancing element introduced somehow between those who are already there and those who are getting in.

The problem is that each answer brings another question - in an endless cycle that's worse than a kid responding to every answer with "but, Why"?

A simple answer is never enough.

I am very eager to experience the new content on my home shard where I can really get into it (I hate test shards), but rather than pick over the details of assumptions, I am waiting to experience it myself.

Powerscrolls, Arties, special rewards particular to each Champ Spawn.

Each Champ Spawn, there are two news one, have a new, innovative "layering" system on top tied to each "level" of spawn.

Decoration and interactive elements are added to each level as you progress the spawn.

Partly, what happens when one kills the Champions ?

They yield Powerscrolls ? Anything else perhaps needed to work with any of the new content?

That's correct.

"Better" is always a subjective term, but that's certainly what we're striving for.

But why do they get anything special? Shouldn't champ spawns just be done for the sheer joy and excitement of killing special creatures that never did any harm to you? Isn't THAT what British was ALL about?

Why should they be any different than the current Champ entries? Not

You keep whining about you don't know anything, log on to the Beta shard and find out. Be part of the solution, test it all out.

Popps.. the whole point to OPEN BETA is so that we can log in and try the new content ourselves. Theres no fun in being told what the rewards are, what each level is like. The other point to open beta is so that we can provide feedback to the team at EA so that they can makes any changes before the release or work on it to be fixed as we go.

Honestly, the Fel side on Retribution is fairly safe. There havent been too many people coming in and grieving those of us doing the spawns. Most ppl are too busy trying imbuing or other new content. They arent even worried about those of us trying the new spawns. Even if someone did come in and kill you, this is a test shard.. you cant keep what you get anyway.

And would it be SO BAD to have to enter into COMERCE to get the bits you need if there are any? I mean, do you seriously raise your own cows, grow all your own food? Craft your own macaroni? Did you build your own car with metal that you personally mined?!

COMERCE IS NOT A BAD THING!

Well, in regards to the randomization of entry points perhaps there is hope.....

I saw this comment in yesterday's UOHoC chat report

"Draconi - We're considering a randomized teleport-in entrance, though, to deal with insta-ganking"


Personally, I think this an important addition if more players are wanted to access the new PvP areas.

Unless entry points are randomized, there is too much a high risk for insta-ganking and this becoming a serious deterrant for players from Trammel to access the new areas.

Yet, in order for it to really work well (the randomization I mean), the pool from which the random entry spawn points are generated must be large enough so that a group of player killers could not possibly camp them all.

Also, an option for groups to be able to entry all together would also reduce the risk of insta-ganking, IMHO.

Anyways, I really hope this will be possible to be made.

Personally i couldnt care less.

If i wanted to see what was on the spawns i would go check myself in beta.

When it goes live im sure i wont be the only trammy guild wanting to test these new spawns...as such im certain a brief "alliance" of all the trammy guilds would make it very easy to witherstack any chokepoint at an entrance and demolish PvP guilds.

When it goes live im certain ill be there Pk'ing the odd person once the spawns are over and looting there rewards, or on my thief and stealing them.

Point is, when it goes live ill make the decisions of what to do. Until then...WHO CARES!
