I'll go through you list here.. but let us do a big time out and ask the most basic of questions: What is this character going to be used for? PvP? PvM?
If PvP, here is a VERY basic how an attack works:
1) Determine if a blow hits. This is based upon your defense skill(wrestling) and DCI mod versus opponents offensive skill(fencing, swords, archery) and HCI.
2) IF a hit lands, determine if the hit was parried. This is based upon your parry (this is VERY simplified and ONLY based upon shield useage)
Again, the above is VERY simplified and just applies for a shield and wrestling skill(let us not muddy the water with bushido)
You can parry with your bare hands? When you say you have 120 in parry, is that implied that you have a shield equipped?
The parry skill requires a shield in your hand.
So in order to receive the defensive benefits of Wrestling, I HAVE to have one of my hands free, right? This means equip 1 shield, or 1 book at a time, correct?
You gain the benefits of wrestling if you do not have a WEAPON in your hands. Thus, if you have a shield and spellbook in your hands, you still receive the benefits of wrestling.
A slayer spellbook boosts your spell damage by a LOT.
For me, as a mage in PvP, the only thing I rely upon a spellbook is for things like int bonus, slayer bonus, mana regen bonus. If you reply upon a spellbook for lrc, you will be a deadman once word gets around you are using it for lrc because people WILL disarm it.
If not PvP, use a spell book for whatever floats your boat. I rely upon a scrappers spellbook on my PvM necro-mage
