Lately I've been seeing all these items around with different names than you would expect... kind of like the green thorns that are named arrow. Are these items really rare of is it a bug EA has chossen to over look?

Without seeing the true color of the items, difficult to tell. If the Mushroom is legit, it's worth a LOT as they have a rather sordid past (used in house breakin exploits). The others, not sure... again, having them highlighted does not help in the least in identifying them.

it would APPEAR to me, people have found ways to get the orginal names of renamed items. in ur cases you've shown, wince (clockwork assembly), mushroom (the mushrooms on the floor of heatwood), bull's horn (Gaman's horn), and straw pillow (sand). Sounds like scams to me. Buyer Beware

Can't see any good reason for someone to dye a true winch to look like an assembly. Methinks it's an assembly.

As you said about the Green Thorn/Arrows, there is a LONG history of exploits involving changing a graphic that has been renamed to its original name. I would highly doubt these are old rares.

I would think based on the price they are knock offs of true rare items, were they the true items they would fetch a greater price then is being asked. Someone is trying to make some quick gold.

They are items that got bugged somehow and lost their proper title is my assumption. As for the mushroom... got to heartwood... they are all over the ground free for anyone to pick up.

Even if those were honest to goodness server ups or whatever who cares? You can get all of them in that same color with a different name.

Same vendor now has Bloodspawn for sale at 500k, other shards have Bloodspawn at 2-30mil. I have no idea where Bloodspawn comes from either.

Anyone who claims to have bought these items is either a) a moron or b) the person creating them.

For those who arent aware, these are all created items produced from a very simple method. Paying over 10K for any of these is not advised considering there is nothing rare about them.

BTW...please notice the weight of these items...all one stone. (may seem insignificant...but this has a lot to do with HOW they are created)

At last! Someone finally comes out and states how to spot a duped item!

(I'd been wondering about that - real assemblies weigh a ton).

Out of interest, in case anyone knows, when was the dev team last informed of the method in concern? Considering how long this is going on (and that some of these methods have been posted on these boards), it must've been months ago now.

There are enough people out there now taking advantage of this bug, and I don't care to add to the list of morons trying to peddle these knock offs. So no, I will not help you nor anyone else who asks...all I will say is buyer beware.

I will not turn in any more bugs or dupes, I will simply try to educate the public on them when I see posts concerning them.

all of those things are easily made today if you find the right ****** to make the deal with. tho some of them have been recently fixed not to aid you in the process, you can still find them.

Those are not the mushrooms that are in Heartwood. The ones in heartwood are Miniature Mushrooms. Thats labeled "Mushroom".....But yes...they look like items that just lost their original titles.

Its been said many times on this forums how the green thorns, orange petals, rose of trinsic items have had there names reverted to the original default name. These items are created from a bug with the stealing skill. At the beginning of the year there was a bug that allowed stealing to re-hue an item which was coined as the world gem bug exploit (it was displayed on the in game uo splash screen for some time). The re-hue has been fixed but the renaming is still a problem. I doubt there will be a fix for this anytime soon as the bug is quite random.

Rule of thumb any item that looks like another and is the default name (sometimes what comes up with the ctrl+shift objects) and has the same hue it is a bugged item. If the item has the default name and is the default hue it was most likely created from the bug that to my knowledge was possible before the end of may 2009.

Why am I not surprised by this response?

Every item in the game has a default name assigned to it. In this case it looks as though the items were manipulated to strip them back to the default name probably using an exploit.

I would really suggest staying away from something like that. I can see that they have some rather questionable items for sale in that one pic and that right there is a dead giveaway that something is not right.

Confirmed there is an active bug that involves all stackables, includes the ability to take away the names. While these are still somewhat rare atm, think of the duped shrouds that one time, if bug gets leaked then these will be completely worthless.

Edit: I didn't necessarily mean all stackables, it's random which ones work and which don't.
