Ignoring the ....... uh... unsavory comments, I would like to thank you, Draconi and all of the other Devs, for what I consider a more positive movement twords giving the fan base information.
I do not subscribe to facebook, but others here do, and they do us the courtesy (as well as yourself and the other Devs) of bringing the information there, over to us, here.
Here's to hoping for a bright future in SA.

Look, I know we're all playing a game from the 1990's here, but outside of UO there's this whole renaissance era on the internet. It's pretty amazing. New stuff is happening all the time and lots of people are enjoying it!

Honestly, I think many of the current players of UO are already crotchety old folks who are distrustful of any new technology that has evolved in the past 10 years. It's kind of like reading an old folks' forum sometimes. Retirement homes of the future will be modeled after Uhall.

"Face what? Eh? What's this MyFaceSpace stuff? In my day we played tile based games and we LIKED it! You kids with your 3D mip mapping and your social networking! Get off my lawn!"

I've always wondered where Draconi got his nic...

I noticed that on a map in a book, in the Midkemia series from Raymond E. Feist, there is a city on the SW coastline called "Draconi."
The kings buccaneer just looked it up :) I have way to much time on my hands

I've read all the Midkemia books - it's my favorite fantasy series.
Like you guys, I actually ran into the city named "Draconi" in one of the maps as well, but I'd chosen the name long before :)

"Draconi" was the name I chose as my UDIC registration, before UO went into beta - the Ultima Dragons was *the* fangroup back then.

Hmm, know of any Retirement homes that are currently modeled after Uhall? Kids keep telling me they are gonna send me to a Retirement home any day now, just wanna make sure I get one that I would like. :D

On the original subject matter Draconi, could you tell us exactly when you had your 'Eureka' moment with regards the ingame map?

All you ever had to do was create your own incarnation of UO Auto Map. You were told that umpteen times on these boards but chose to ignore it for some unfathomable reason. Now at last the penny seems to have dropped. I was going to say better late than never but the mistakes made in KR caused untold damage to KR, the map just being one example of many.

Well done at last in getting tha map right ... youre a genius.:bored:

Look, over your head, its the point you missed. Is there not an updated screenshot on Facebook showing an area that the current OFFICIAL website still shows with an old screenshot?

I wouldn't know since I don't use Facebook. I did, however, see two different versions of the same screenshot. One, from the OFFICIAL website (still there I believe) and one where someone claimed it was from Facebook. Is that not true?

Again, I would imagine that if you are going to put up new screenshots of something that you would do it on the official site where most people will be looking for them.
Dude... do you realize you're riding his jock strap over absolutely nothing?

There are several medium the Dev team use and have used to get new information out... and it's never been a big deal. The IRC chats, the Town Hall meetings, posts here on stratics, the interviews with <insert something here>, the whatever.

Your like a crusader without a cause, aimlessly looking for something to conquer.

You and the rest of the people here pancakes about them not doing this or that the way you'd personally of prefered it is absolutely ridiculous.

Jeez

Wasn't me :p *This* team knew exactly how the map should've functioned in KR. Admittedly, now that we're the ones in charge, we did what was completely obvious to everyone else: fold in functionality we should've always had.

Supreem and his engineers led the effort to fix this glaring issue.

After all, the whole point is to have an attractive, useful client - not beat everyone over the head with crazy "innovations" lacking even Legacy's completeness :)

Finally we have a lead Dev who knows UO, what direction it NEEDS to go, and is in tune with the playerbase..........

You are absolutely right. It makes much much more sense for the most updated screens shots of SA to be on Facebook and not the official SA site. I stand corrected. After all, anyone that hears about SA will go directly to Facebook to see it and not some silly official site. That would be ludicrous.

Again, my apologies for even thinking differently than the hive mind. I am completely in line now and won't speak out about anything stupid again. So, does that mean I get into beta now?

That is the most intelligent thing I have ever heard from anyone working on UO since the Lord British days. If that actually ends up being the direction of UO development I imagine that things will get better when it comes to 'new' clients.

Because it's Facebook, and Facebook is "cool" and "trendy"

Just like Myspace was last year. It shall pass, never fear.
I wish I was cool...
Man, I wish you were cool too. :D

I'm still holding out on getting a facebook, and this after I just saw my siblings and got some more guilt tripping. I'm sure I'll give in eventually, though I never did on myspace.

Nice commentary btw, Draconi. Functionality really should be the top priority, artwork can be tweaked and fixed later. I'd play a UO with stick figures if it was bug-free.

This statement probably raised the community's hopes concerning SA more than anything else.

I am one of those who likes the radar to show exactly how the mountain/water/sand/grass tiles look in the legacy client. Thank you for this decision!

Will the npcs (esp healers) show up in the SA radar just like KR?

Yes, because the fansite Strategery would have no capabilities of locking threads or making them unable to be posted to. Gotcha.

But you are right. Using some 'popular' social network that people have to sign up for in order to be able to even read to get out UO information makes much more sense than using an existing UO fansite to do so. Much much much more sense.

Carry on.
Oh yes, because we know EVERYONE who plays UO visits the existing fansite.
