As the title says. How can you change your uo acct name? I've recieved a few emails today for password requests. I checked out my acct info and there was a different email there and a different zip code. I changed it back to my info, checked my account and everything was ok. I changed my password too. So I wasn't hacked, but someone is trying. I want to change the account name so this person can't try for the password anymore.

Any help is appreciated.

As far as I know, you can't change your account name. Even if you were to call them and give them every detail on your account they won't do it. I'd suggest calling customer service but so many have been having a lot of problems with them of late that I dare not.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Get a new e-mail address and change the accounts over to that... most likely, someone has already hacked your e-mail. Also, make sure your e-mail and UO passwords are not the same.

Excellent suggestion! See, it pays to ask questions! It would have taken me a little time to figure that out. Alzheimers ya know... LOL (Whatever that is LOL j/k)

I reread my post and realized it may have come off as a bit snotty and for that I apologize.

Oh no! You didn't come off sounding snotty at all! I did change the email address that was connected to the account. It's now on a more secure one.

Good plan.... I never EVER use my UO account emails for anything BUT UO... I don't use any of my UO passwords for Anything but UO... And the Passwords associated with my UO Emails also.... I never ever use anywhere but there... I also change all my passwords periodically and anytime I so much as suspect something is out of the ordinary with my pc or account...

Ok don't laugh, but don't do what I did even tho I thought it was a good idea at the time.

My UO accounts all go to a defunt email account. It wasn't a public one that someone could get registered for or even find anywhere on the net, just a private one that no longer works.

So I went to log in an account and discovered that I needed to update the billing information. I go to UO.com and then sit there and try every password I can think of to get in. Because they have a security measure that after three attempts it will put you on a timer, I was trying different accounts with my mental list of passwords. I figured that I would have used the same password on the website for all the accounts.

I'm really starting to get worried now, I've tried my whole list of passwords that I can think of and none of them are working! So I write them all down and decide to go through them one by one, again, just in case I mistyped. It finally works - for the same password as logging in to the game. That's when I realize that the uo.com password for your billing is the same as your UO account. I use different passwords with different accounts, and probably just tried it with the wrong account on the site.

So whew! I could log in after that. And just to test it to make sure I changed my main account password to something else. And now everytime I log in to UO on my main account I forget that I've changed it and type the wrong one, every time. I'm such a dodo. :D

Here's couple of things I never hear anyone mention, Never have a character named with the same name you use for your account name, never place a house with a character named with the same name as your account name. Passwords aren't the only thing you should try to keep secret, if they don't have your account name they can't try to hack your account.

Oh the original question, No they can't change your account name. Sorry.

If your character shares your account name I'd seriously concider a character name change, and if youplaced a house with that char transfer it to a friend and back to another char, even if you need to create a new account to transfer it twice.

Follow those rules and you will be moderately safe.
