Tame it, feed it hay or grain, stable for a week, feed again, and it should bond.

Yep, easy. Feed it hay (available from the farmer at the farmer's market in Skara). Simply say all follow me...feed it...stable it for a week, bring it out and say all follow me and feed it. Voila, you have a bonded chicken lol.

Note that, generally speaking, you should NOT give pets commands between the initial feeding and the feeding that bonds the animal.

In this case, it doesn't matter - animals under 29.X (don't remember exact #) difficulty give you 100% control chance. It rarely effects the bonding process even for most other animals - the chance of failing that 1 command is, well, 1 in 100 most of the time - but if it DOES happen, it can confuse the heck out of you and delay your bonding process for a week.

Whatever works for folks. I have NEVER had an issue bonding a pet, and that's a LOT of pets over time, including the highest end stuff. In fact, generally what I'm bonding is all stuff that requires over 100 lore/tame for control. If you feed before saying all follow me at the end of a week and that works for you, awesome. I do it the opposite way and have never had issues.

The point is not that you ALWAYS have issues, but that you CAN have issues - if you issue a command, even with the highest control chance possible, you still fail a command 1 out of 100 times (unless it is very low-minimum-skill). Bonding requires your pet to stay Wonderfully Happy then ENTIRE week. IF you fail that command, your pet is no longer wonderfully happy, and thus your pet will no longer bond immediately upon being fed.

I'm glad to hear you've never had an issue, but while you haven't, some people HAVE, and then they have to wait another week for the damnable pet to bond. Frankly, giving advice that risks a failed bonding process when it doesn't HELP the bonding process at all is silly. Why add even a rare confounding variable if it doesn't do anything except confound things?

Easy tiger. I guess I've personally never seen a pet fail ONE command and suddenly not be Wonderfully Happy. Understand? I believe I'll test it this evening by putting some pets in situations where they will fail on ONE command and see if they change from Wonderfully Happy to Extremely Happy. With that said, it IS UO, so anything is possible I suppose, lol.

Easy tiger.
:D

I've always been under the impression (generally backed up by experience) that every failed command reduces happiness by 1 level.

I could always be wrong...
