Wood armors

What are the wood armor types, is any prone to being mage armor like samurai armor is for smiths? And do the armors that require special materials get affected by runic saws or are they like a static "artifact item thing?"

there is the darkwood set and You cant enhance it with a runic
then there is the woodland set and it can be enhanced
i dont believe any of the artifact types can be enhanced not positive though

There's only 1 type of wood armour type I'm afraid.

The 3 elven types of armour correlates to the human ones like so:

leaf = leather (meddable)
hide = studded (non-meddable)
wood = plate (non-meddable)

The wood armor does not have a built in mage armour property like samurai armour.

You have to use a runic and hope you roll the mage armour property.

Besides runic properties, IIRC, one of the random properties that heartwood (the material type, not the runic) gives is mage armour, so you can also enhance/make it out of heartwood to hopefully get the mage armour property, but it's random.

Note, from my own enhancing experience, enhancing wooden armour tends to destroy them more than enhancing leather or metal armour, maybe I just have bad luck. The most recent piece I destroyed was an LRC 20, MR 2, Mage Armour, Fire Resist 12 wooden breastplate. Was trying to enhance it with bloodwood to get the HPR and more Fire resist...

you might want to fix your post it says leaf is the same as leather and is non medable. Which I am sure you made a mistake and meant to put medable.

Whoops, thanks for spotting that, hazards of cut and pasting heh.

burned a heartwood saw on bloodwood armor. 1 piece of meddable armor(junk), multiple mediocre pieces. nothing special.

Just to clarify, I meant that there are 2 ways to get the mage armour property in wooden armour:

1) Use a runic kit and hope you roll mage armour as one of the properties
2) Use heartwood as the material (see http://www.uoherald.com/guide/itemproperties_2.php)

Edited earlier post to make it clearer.

Hopefully, once we get imbueing, we don't have to sacrifice chickens to the RNG gods and pray it gives us the mods we want...

Wood armor can be nice... but extremely hard to get anything good as you need bark fragments as well.

On test I burned through a lot of bark + wood with a heartwood saw... still got crap =/

Wood armor can yield good properties if you're uber lucky... like 5 % HCI, 5%SSI, HP regen up to 4, DI...those are some that you can get enhancing with Heartwood and Bloodwood for the HPR.

Yup, good potential to turn out really well with the special properties from using bloodwood or heartwood.

I am still bummed over breaking that sweet LRC 20, MR 2, mage armour & decent fire resist piece...

None of the carpentry "major" artifacts Ironwood Crown, Bramble Coat, Darkwood Armors, and Phantom Staff are effected by runic saws. They have set properties, but there is one slight exception.

The exception is that the material properties (not runic) of the wood do have an effect on the propeties of the Darkwood Armor. The Darkwood armor, when crafted with any special wood type, will inherit the mateial bonuses of that type. You can craft medable Darkwood pieces from Heartwood, if you are lucky.

All the other armor and weapons are effected by runics (i.e. vulture helm, hardened staff, woodland chest, club, etc..).

I've got a whole medable suit all with +3 and +4HPR, some nice resists. I've found that it was just easier to collect wood armor from loot and enhance that.

In the long run it was cheaper to make weapons, and the runic saws made better weapons than armor on average...
e.g. Yew runic saw, wildstaff made with yew
54 HML
40 HLA
17 HCI
48 DCI
UBWS

I've never got a decent wood armor piece and just burned through the runics. Save the saws for weapons has been my experience.

Ya, you'll burn through a lot more resources/runics trying to get a halfway decent wood armor piece. They're better left for weapons as they're in higher demand.

Enhancing looted wooden armor is better.

Ya the Heartwood is my fav to enhance with. The downside is it has the 40Luck chance and has less success then spin enhancing 90+ luck pieces. You can break 15 med to high wood looted items in a row enhancing.

Heartwood to armor mods enhancing
40Luck
mage armor
+5HCI
+10DI
10%lower requirement
and I think the heartwood resist spread and some.

As far as Imbueding it will take a dedicated person to make a wood armor set of heartwood with the break rate. Make the item with normal wood and a runic (GM carp & Arms Lore). Pick out the desired pieces with the mods of favor. Imbued it to the 5 mod max. Powder up to max durability. Enhance with desired wood by crossing fingures. If using heartwood kiss 95% of all that work goodbye at least.

From the start of looted wood armor I have been trying to make the tankmage set. Finding armor with LRC and mage armor and enhancing with heartwood. So far I have gotten 3 pieces to catch the HCI or DI. Imbueding new found stuff and making it a higher break rate will not speed this up, LOL.

If wear wood armor and get hit with a Flame Strike you catch on fire and die a horrible death. Swear to God.

What's the best weapon to make using the runic saws? I've got all 3 weapon skills at 120, so which one doesn't matter. I've got a couple of saws sitting in a box that I just haven't gotten to yet and was thinking about burning them this weekend.

Bokutos are what I see sold the most. Not many macer dismounters to make clubs. Or people who use quarter staves, unless you make an uber one with Balanced on it (if that's possible)

I've been making hardened wild staffs (+5% DI) and quarter staffs to get the best mods using Yew. An even better weapon is the gnarled staff using ash for speed or yew for the +10% DI, hoping to get max SSI out of it... but for some reason I've never got a decent gnarled staff. I haven't tried making clubs.

Balanced isn't possible with carpentry... but it should be!

My little crafter wears a bloodwood suit, no runic saw, just as it comes, gm crafted.

One day a while ago I foolishly opened a crate on someone's doorstep. Poisoned, oops, chewed a petal, no good, poison too strong. So, being near a moongate, I popped through to Zento and stood in the healer shop just waiting to die, no magery on the char at that time. The poison wore off. The hpr regen on the bloodwood kept my character alive long enough for deadly poison to wear off!

I have had some crafters for a couple years. Filling bods. buying runics etc.

I have never played test until a few weeks ago.

I would suggest anyone considering making a crafter, wanting to learn more about their crafter etc. Go try out test center.

You got a ton of resources and runics with a few hundred thousand uses.

I am sure you will sorely dissapointed when you make 500 items with valorite runic hammers and most are garbage.

Considering it takes a long long long time to get a valorite if you dont script/cheat.

After that, when you have to spend 50 mil for a nice armor piece you will understand why.

wow, i didn't even know that runic saws exist!! are there carpentry bods!?
i haven't heard of these before, i only get good armor by enhancing (massive destrotyng..^^) looted piezes, but i will give a try...
I love bloodwood armor, it's hard to success, but is nice its blood red look and to have armor pieces with lrc, 2mr, 2hp reg and med i think is fine ;)

A fast hp reg crafting tool, nice to get you at lich form without hp loss...
It's a pity is sooooo hard to get this wood :(

The reason you blow up more Wood armor than leather or metal is pretty simple - Your skill affects it, and Carpentry is max 100.0 . Tailoring and Blacksmithy have +20 Power Scrolls. Ergo more skill to help the enhancing.

I blew up every Tessen I tried enhancing until I moved my 111 tailoring onto my smith LOL. (Tessen is a weapon that uses both Tailoring and Smithing)
