Thoughts on your EMs so far?

Out of curiosity, what's the policy on EMs posting to forums like Stratics and UOForums? Is it policy that they should not post or can they advertise ahead of time when events will go down?

EMs aren't allowed to post here. From the couple I've met, they're definitely readers here.

And I simply ADORE EMs Kasaven and Annendora on Catskills. They've taken the time to get to know us. They seem to be tailoring their events and characters to the people who have shown the most interest, much to the chagrin of people who show up, ask for their sash and leave. And every interaction I have had with them is better than the last.

I just wish I had touched a chessboard sometime in the past 15 years. I really want to see the switch switched for myself.

If they run things like the Lord Casca schedule it would be much appreciated. Maybe not every time for for the more *scripted* speeches ect, it was nice to see a schedule posted on uoherald. This way even if you can't attend the time on your own shard you can maybe visit another for the day and catch it as a last resort.

The other more non scripted events that happen most likely won't be posted but perhaps a heads up lantern or shield would help.

I wanted to say publicly how much we have enjoyed our EMs on Lake Superior. EMs Quantum and Autolycus (we affectionately call them Q&A) have made themselves available for chats and are working hard to get to know our shard.
They are still tied down to Britain but never once complain and we have even brought some of our events to them instead.

I went on a tour of shards the other night to visit other Counselor Guild Halls and though one or two were still barren, the rest were decorated beautifully with books of welcome and a wedding planner ready. I ran into EM Laurana when I popped into Origin and she was so nice to take time out for a visitor.

Here is a picture of our community meet up, player decorated at the time, with our EMs Q&A. I hope the majority are experiencing the same enjoyment!
*hugs all around*
As a result of this post, I went on a little tour of my own....
Here is a description and some pics of all the Counselor Guild Halls for your viewing pleasure!

EM Event Missing is more appropriate Oceania maybe small and upside down to all of you but if you put little suckers on the EM's feet I am sure he will start to get around and maybe just maybe we will see them!:lick:

I hope those barren places get some love soon from the EMs... when my shard was out an EM a few years back and others still had one it totally sucked.

So far, I'm LOVING the EM's and I'm tickled we have them back. It's definitely stirred up some interesting conversations and debates on various shards. On Catskills, we currently have a pretty hot debate going. It's fun to see some of the plot lines brought into other areas and, while I'm not huge on role play (mostly cause I'm not very good at it), it IS giving me a chance to dip my toes in and really think about my character's stand on things.

For those looking for events with fighting, I'm pretty confident we'll have plenty of chance for that. Lord knows I got blown up enough at previous events! I can't imagine we won't see more of that here soon. :)

Um, are we playing on the same shard? I saw the EMs in their counsellor hall five or six times, and I've seen them out on their yellow named characters twice; once they had a bunch of people with them and were RPing with us all in Umbra. Seriously, you mustn't be looking very hard.

I don't think it is necessarily not looking hard Siyeng0 but perhaps a matter of timing. Perhaps if you are noticing a certain time that is good or if someone attending is able to post a heads up on your shard's forums it will give a better chance at meeting them. If someone has only certain times to log in it might account for a missing EM to them. *smiles*

I wish they would stop the wate of time the EMs bring, and instead of hiring staff to work that program, they would hire staff to actually fix the problems in the game...la

EM Tailspin on Ches is doing a great job. His char and bear friend are currently roaming Chesapeake checking out all kinds of "creatures'. Lord Casca and his Royal Taste Tester showed up, impromtu, at Paxlair's 11th Anniversary dinner.

So far it's great and hopefully a good sign of things yet to come.

I am also disappointed with the Great Lakes team. While I can't say I have not met them, they are both great people, it just doesn't seem like they're as active as other shards who have already had multiple events or activities held. As far as that goes, I'm only aware of one "town hall" held on Great Lakes which I missed due to a poor timed schedule I presume (2:30 cst) ???

I hope things will liven up in the next few weeks as I do look forward to attending some awesome events but as of now things aren't looking very impressive.

How is it a waste of time recruiting a volunteer staff to run events of their own will?

And considering the amount of lay-offs EAs put up with in the last year, let alone the country alone, whose going to afford additional developer staff? you?

I'll bet there would be people who would volunteer to help correct problems in the game. Who knows...maybe some of the unemployed developers who still play/love the game?...la

Actually there have been a number of people who have attempted too. For instance all the good time graphics designers who use to build skeletal animations and renders of game creatures/figures. They were always shot down by EA because EA by law cannot accept the work due to legal issues.

I assume legal issues would be along the same lines with programming. Plus for anyone to submit a huge programmed addition, developers would have to go through it line by line to check its accuracy and make sure it's not full of bugs/viruses that could bring down servers or all characters.

oh I forgot..

So far on Baja, I'm beginning to really like our EM's. They seem very interested in Baja's past, which is important. This past weekend there was a meeting between one of the RPC's and Casca. Proved very interesting, and had a few more interesting things happen a bit after. I missed those tid bits, but managed to get some stuff together from others.
I am very intrigued to say the least. Excited!!

I'm not sure if you're absolutely aware of how hard that is. Especially if you have a multi-thousand line submission with code executions then the actual virus written through random parts of the code every subsequent sets of lines.

For instance, I could write the execute command first, then every random number of lines I can write excutable commands that could be affected by it. Then altogether they form a virus. Locating all those string commands would be a pain in the a$$ (and would cost a lot of money) and ultimately take longer to fix than implementing a fix themselves.

EM Sezja popped in one night and I got to meet her. She seemed very nice. She has the building nicely fixed up. The one thing missing is the Casca event on napa but thats not her fault I dont think. Seems maybe napa is to small to get the events. not even the mouse traps

Yesterday morning the EM's building was bare. However, about an hour and a half before I logged for the night, lo and behold, I got a page informing me that the EM'a were in the house. Needless to say, at that time of night when most peeps are in bed and there's really nothing going on, a few of us did get to meet and banter with EM Sezja and EM Kaen.

Good people those two. Great sense of humour and they seemed to be receptive to some of the suggestions made. Whether we get to see some of those suggestions enacted remain's to be seen but at least folks got to offer them to "live" people and even got some spontaneous responses, as opposed to "canned" feedback.

Of course, I don't think they were immediately taken with my suggestion of having a Kill Casca hunt, but hey *throws hands up and shrugs shoulders*, one can only hope! LOL
