I have a little miner. She was in Fel tonight working her mining. I know I can get killed there. I'll never understand why when I was killed, he also felt he had to killed my firebug. Its not like it had anything on it to take.
It went wildly running back and forth in Brit mine, and would not come to my ghost. I went and got rezed after throwing a few not so nice 000000's to the guy. After I got Rez I logged out and my bug did not come back to me. I did this twice and still he would not come back. So I trug up there again and try to get him to come and the same guy is hieing in the Mine and kills me again. ;9{ I trug to a wondering healer and he stealth behind me and kills me as soon as I'm rezed. Needless to say I lost all my stuff and my blessed dress also.
OK so it the hard knocks of being in Fel, Deal with it.

What I need to know is this.
Why did didn't my bug come back to me when i logged in and out out side of town limits? I got to town and tried logging in and out again and he came back.
How can I protect my blessed stuff if its not coming back. Is there a trick to it.
He is in Factions. Is this a normal thing for Faction members to do.
Kill miners? {funny thing is he left the script miner alone}
If he kills me does he get a faction kill point? I realy don't know much about them.
I never give a murder counts if my miner is killed. I won't give any one that ganks a pat on the back, there is just no pvp in killing an unarmed miner.

See, this is exactly why I argue that the log out/log in feature not be removed from the game.

Most so-called PvPers that go on and on about getting rid of it want to do so because they want to grief players...just like this.

Question for you Millie...did you leave the server you were on? As in, did you cross a server line? I have found sometimes that the log out/log in trick does not work unless you cross a server boundary.

Why do we kill miners?

Posts like this?...la
Why always the troll Rico?
I'm asking for honest answers to real questions and your just trying to get the post locked.

In flames, Will the pet balls work on a dead pets now? I tried to get one of my dragons back a few years ago with a pet ball, he was dead and I totally lost him.
And do you know if the guy gets points if I don't give a murder count?

Morgana Lefay, yes I left the mine and there are 2 servers that come together there outside the mine. I crossed them both. I only got him back after I logged in and out in town

If you char is not in factions ofc he does not get points , and murder counts and faction points is in no way tied together

As to your pet...Some pets are bugged. I have one of those black horse thingies; the login/logout trick has never worked for it. I always have to use a Ball of Pet Summoning (or whatever they are called).

Oh and, yes, it's normal for Fellies to kill miners, and their pets, and to stalk healers to rez kill their victims. As to why? Someone once told me, "Why wouldn't I, it's free money." There's all kinds of other reasons too, but my reciting them would just be speculation on my part.

You, however, are in Felucca because you feel the double resources are worth that risk, and know very well that this happens.

Not sure why you would've lost a blessed dress, except that every once in awhile, blessed items (sometimes insured items too but less often) just vanish for awhile, then reappear.

In Flames is right put a summoning ball in your bank. My pets always come back even if they are dead.

Yes, that's right, that's Pk'ing. While alot of PvP'rs enjoy the thrill of outsmarting/outfighting other people, there are also alot of Pk'rs who are bullies that derive their enjoyment from ruining the fun for other people like miners. They may not realize this themselves, but they are bullies.

There's no way to prevent this, there will always be bullies. Trammel was created partially because alot of people don't want to worry about being grieved when they play.

Most of the bullies of that era can't find other weaklings to bully and have since quit.

You mentioned he went after you, ignoring other script miners. That means he either figured those are bots that he can go back to kill afterwards, or that it's his (or his friends') bots. He was there to protect them and drive away other miners from going there, since that means less resource for his bots and that you may utimately page on the bots.

Following you to the healers and rez-killing you would serve that purpose too. Plus he's probably bored to death doing guard duty and griefing you is the only fun he's getting.

Tit for tat, go get your friends/guildies and wipe them out :D

Get a pet ball for that bug, as anyone lame enough to kill a miner will be lame enough to kill their pets. It disrupts your resource collecting when you have to get the bug res'd, therefore in the eyes of a brat PK, it's worth doing :(

My resource collectors wear nothing but newbie clothing when they go out collecting, they carry a few tools and nothing more. I either use book recall charges or walk to the spot I gather from, so I don't carry any regs or anything like that either. Not only will that hugely reduce the chances of someone reskilling you, it also means you don't even have to attempt to recover your corpse. Summon your fire bug, and even if it doesn't come back, just wait a while till he realises you aren't returning and then try it. I've sometimes used a stealther to scout around to check if someone has left, so that's maybe something you could try if it happens again.

Another option to get that pet back is to have your char recall to somewhere safer near where the pet went, and have a runebook open ready to hit a charge. Or you can precast recall and not target a book. Then run within range of your bug and tell it to follow you. As soon as it does, you can hit the charge on the book and get out of there. Protection helps too, but I've never actually used it. A precast recall always did me fine. I've used that method hundreds of times at least ;)

In the more dangerous spots, I carry a small dyed bag that I tuck behind a tree or something as I'm working and drop resources into it as I go. Then if I get killed the PK doesn't even get my ore...

I do remember a spiteful red once attacking my miner who turned out to be a friend of the miner bot. I guess he wanted to protect the cave for his bot friend ;) If he left the bot alone, chances are you had a similar encounter to mine. Next time you see that bot, I'd expect his PK buddy to show up. Time to find a good PvPer who doesn't mind impersonating a miner to give him a nasty surprise hehe.

If they're blue, always count unless they grovel profusely. Reds I don't count unless they loot me ;)

When the blackrock elementals were at large I did my mining in Cove, the npcs there are so numerous and observant they usually got the ele guardwhacked before I had chance to react. I'm sure they'd do the same for any foolhardy red.

Its not safe!!!

I myself have killed a few scripters, i know there scripters as i purposefully poison there Bug/Packy If they run, try to cure, talk (if they talk trash i kill) then i tend to leave them with a dead pet (but not whats on it :p).

Its not just miners, i will attempt to kill anyone who is scripting (and some who are afk if they have something i cant steal!!)

I dont see it as bullying, i see it as vigilante justice (and i dont like to see them where i am stalking!)

Leave it to a person that plays a character whose sole purpose is greifing others to defend griefing. Killing a miner is one thing. Killing a fire beetle serves no purpose other than to cause grief. There's no insurance, no loot on it, and not one single thing to be gained with it's death. Defend it all you like, it's ****ty behavior, even for Fel.

Rez killing is not though.
All it means is you got a pathetic little boy that wanted to feel good about himself (as good as killing a just rez'd miner could make him feel anyway)

I suggest mining in Cove fel, its where i mine.
Also, i don't know what shard youre on but ive had good luck in fel in the little hidden valley near Painted Caves and the cave entrance to the hidden valley. (S.W of Trinsic)

LOL, well, since I have never owned one, never used one...this is news to me.

That being said, reds and other player killers like to stake "their" land. If you come to steal our resources we are going to make sure it is difficult to do so. The other things about fire beetles. I have had miners rez, then "all kill" their bug towards me. Why should I risk being attacked by one of those things. It's much easier to take care of the bug, and let the miner rez it somewhere else...la

I wont res-kill but the amount of times i wait a while and the scripter returns, poison his beetle see if he reacts usually nothing..theyve gone afk again!!!

So i kill him again (sometimes i wait to an almost full pack so i get good chance of goodies)

People should expect to have this happen. And after all...it IS Fel...right?

What are they doing in Fel if they don't want people to kill them, or their pets? Repeatedly? And loot their stuff? Hmmm? What fun could they possibly have, then, eh?

Listen to all you damned cry babies. This is what once made this game great. When I first started out and I wanted to go hunting, we were always nervous about reds. It made it exciting.

Now everytime some trammy gets killed trying to get double resources, or hunt in fel, they come here crying about it and get everyone's sympathy "they're just bullies", "they need a shrink".

QUIT CRYING.

It's part of the game.

If I see a blue I don't care who or what it is, I'll kill them.

Killing someone's pet in Felucca is within the rules of the game and there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe the person who did it is a role player whose character's family was killed by a swarm of fire beetles.. so now he kills or tries to kill every fire beetle he sees in the land? *shrugs*

You might play Ultima Online for pixel crack only. That need not be same for everyone else. It is quite simple, when you are in Felucca you run the risk of exposing yourself and your pets to an attack. Get over it. And I do not buy the "lost blessed dress" part of the story.

Please point out where I said it wasn't within the rules. I said it served no purpose other than griefing. I didn't say anything about there being any rules against it.

Uh.....yeah. I'm sorry, but I'm not in the market for the Brooklyn Bridge or any beachfront property in Arizona. Maybe the next guy will buy this. I was born at night, but not LAST night.

If that was the case then I wouldn't have been out doing Ilsh champs before there was any reward to them.

Again, please quote where I've said anything to oppose this. I have nothing to "get over". I mine in Fel myself and know perfectly well what the risks are.

They're the same as they are in Tram. Loss of insurance, and loss of personal time. That's it.

Trying to force your standards or code of conduct on other players is incorrect. We can and should only expect players to respect the rules of the game. Anything besides that is legitimate actions and there is nothing lousy about it.

Yes, you can disagree with their actions. I just prefer it when people do it in-character.. Alas.

If I'm on my red and I see a miner/lumberjacker/fel heartwood quester that I don't know whos char it is, I might or might not kill them. It just depends on what I'm doing at the time. I would normally kill the pet if I killed the miner. But on the other hand, if I saw that they were hit by the insurance bug and insured/blessed items were on the corpse, I would make every effort to return them to the owner, and if for some reason they lost the beetle/fire beetle I would even tame them a new one if they asked. If the char did something to indicate that they weren't a script miner then I most likely would leave them be.

What I find quite amusing is that you are not capable obviously to PVP and the people who do attack know this. So on their part I find it to be a lame thing to do. Attacking a player with no skills other than mining thats pretty much:bs:

I didn't start this thread to get flamed and called a crybaby. To those of you saying that I'm crying, read the original again. I know I'm in Fel and I know I can get killed. I was asking answers for answers on how to better deal with it. I was asking about factions and red counts.
As for you not buying my story about my blessed dress, how dare you call me a lair. I lost my blessed dress . I have no reason to lie about it. If I was why would I even bother to ask how I keep form losing a new one. Believe me if I had more time to to gather resources I would never go to Fel.
If the char did something to indicate that they weren't a script miner then I most likely would leave them be.
That's just it, I've been on this shard for a year now. I see reds in Fel all the time. Most of them if you talk the them leave you alone, but some don't

How is anyone to learn how to deal with it if they don't ask the questions about it ? Not all people in this game have guild members or friends to ask these things, so they come here to ask. Why do Some of you people have to be so Disrespectful of them.

Okay as a fellow miner and not a Siege'ed out sour 44 year old, Here is why.

From my experiences since 2000, Theres a little thing called "script miners" LOL yeah we all know them, and they are territorial, I found that if you move into there area and mine, they don't like that because its messing with there supply loop. Now with that being said, Yes it could just be a random red angry at the World.

So Basically You are mining, they are scripting they come back to the computer and see you mining there, they might be inclined to log out and grab there red and attack a miner, knowing what the template 99.9% is going to be right?

Thats as honest as i can be about the whole subject i hope it helps.

If the char that killed you was in factions and your char wasn't, then they didn't receive any benefit from killing you other than ore/ingots/insurance money. The only way they would have gotten silver or faction points would be if your char was in a different faction.

As far as the insurance bug, I've seen to many items on corpses that still had the tag insured or blessed, so I know that it happens. Not sure what caused it since it seems to be random and it doesn't matter what killed the person. I had a guildmate get killed running through imps and greater mongbats (imps got him) at the desert spawn trying to get to Oasis and all his blessed and insured items dropped to the corpse. Fortunatly I was a screen or two behind him and was able to get the items and rez him.

I don't go around looking for miner to kill, but if I happen to run across one I would expect them to make an effort to recall or at least some action to show that they know I'm there (even if it is to say "crap, I'm dead"). If they they do something to indicate that they are actually doing the mining then I might stop and ask them how things are going and then leave, but if they just continue mining away then I assume that they are a script miner and will normally kill them.

Maybe the player was just bored as 75% of the people in this game have quit, assumed you were a script miner, and killed you. Or, maybe he/she was just high and wanted to kill something. Why question the motives, no one here on this board knows why the player did it. And coming from a guy that had to replace a horse EVERY time I died (10-15 new ones a day, 7 years ago), I don't feel too much sympathy. Would you care if an ele spawned, killed you, then killed your pet, and then killed you again when you ran back?

Just asking, but was the dress blessed for that char (ie an AOS item) or was it bless using a clothing bless deed? And before anyone asks why would you use a clothing bless deed on a dress, it could have been a dress made by a good friend in game a long time ago that doesn't play anymore or is no longer with us and it held sentimental value.

I can see killing you and your beetle once, but to keep killing you when it became obvious that you wasn't script mining really wasn't cool.

Unless she's using arcane clothing, or recalls with chivalry, or carries regs... a LRC suit is typical on a mule character so they can get to and from the bank/work site.

Unless the guy looted you, I'd say he did it just to be a di...

No reason to kill a miner anymore. Unless they're a scripter, and that's just to be a pain and make their script screw up.

Ingot stealing/killing for just isn't as popular as it once was...pre-item based UO.

Another thing to consider is that most script programs are set to recall the instant a red name appears on their screen.

So alot of people have adopted the old saying "Shoot first and ask questions later".

In other words reds often kill the miner as fast as possible before the script has a chance to recall out. Most times this has been my approach and if after they're dead they start talking, walking around or something else to indicate they are not a bot I will rez them and send them on their way.
