Some changes to the UO Stratics forums...

The 'old' UO Thief forum is now the UO PvP Thief forum and is for the discussion of stealing from players.

A new forum, UO Thief, has been created for discussion of all NON player related stealing...and all aspects thereof

This new forum will be open for posting in just a few minutes.

I think its funny that thieves can't be bothered to sort through pvp and non-pvp threads, however we have this....

UO Trade East Coast (5 Viewing)
The trading forum for Atlantic, Catskills, Chesapeake, Great Lakes, Lake Superior, and Legends. Subject Prefixes are Mandatory here.

Because that's a PITA, but sifting through six shards, not to mention that one of them is the most populated shard in UO, isn't a PITA.

Ya know, I'll admit i was wrong, after i poked into your pvp thief forum, it looks to me like one of your mods just couldn't respect that some people use the skill the forum was created to discuss outside a pvp enviroment, and angered alot of people as a result. and this is your fix.

I still think east coast trade needs something. west coast is just as clustered. i think east coast is worse because of atl. thats just my opinion.

It was the recognition that the 'traditional' thief still has a place in the game, and the stealing skill is used by many who don't steal from other players.

I was asked to create a place for those who want to discuss stealing outside of the traditional scope of things, and it was done.

Stealing from crates is just as traditional as stealing from players. It is just some thieves can't accept that their skill is used for something other than stealing from live players.

Stealing is stealing. Having two separate forums is silly.

and really..this wasn't anyone getting there way...no bull**** there. I did not speak to any Moderators about this before I did it today...I spoke to the available Admins, got their input, and I made a decision.

I just don't see the logic. Spellcasters have their place in pvp and pvm, but they all get along. warriors... tamers... same deal as well.

I hear ya...

The thoughts on this are just a bit different. Without dragging things out, it was felt there was enough of a difference in this case to provide a forum for both 'sides'.

and ...these forums aren't mine... they belong to all of us.

This move actually has been in discussion for weeeeeeeeks now...I just got 'er handled today

More like months, than weeks (since before profession boards came back).

In fact, if you remember the tag lines for the old forums, EVEN THEN, as far back as I've been a member, the "Thief" profession forum proclaimed that they were a board for PvP Thieving ONLY, and that other users of Stealing skill should look elsewhere for advice.

This is really more a restoration of the old order, than anything new or divisive.

I personally just wish the "PvP Thieves" would go with a more accurate description of their profession.

"Soundrel"? (would fit, but do we really want to feed Rico's ego that much?)
"Pickpocket"?
"Brigand"? (hey, we got them in the game as NPCs already)
"Highwayman"? (I kinda like this one - after all, not all people Thieving in Fel use stealing skill to get loot off others, heh, heh, heh...)

They need to build some respect for their profession by going with a name that differentiates them from those that simply take things that aren't sufficiently static-coded.
