So Ok, I am leaving UO, I go to account management, change my subscription regime from 6 monthly payments to 1 monthly payments while I pack. The intent being as I pack up each account I can cancel the sub completely once packed and don't risk it paying another full 6 months if it takes me longer than I intend or if I am slack find it difficult to bother packing. I have 5 accounts.

So OK, three of the accounts original 6 month payments were due to run out on the 18th, 19th and 24th Feb respectively, the other two not until June, so I change all three to monthly payments on the 12th of Feb.

I receive 3 confirmation emails from EA advising me of the changes to my accounts, and I can no longer 'select' monthly payments from the 'list' of what I can change subs too, as basically that is what I am on.

Billing plan: Ultima Online $12.99/mo
in each email, all good............

Ok, we get to March, and low and behold, on my credit card statement I am billed 12.99 (1 month) for two accounts and 59.99 (6 mths) for the third.

I email billing to complain and request they refund my 59.99 and bill me 12.99 as they were AUTHORIZED to do, and as they (EA) had confirmed on the 12th of Feb.

To this I get this response:
....... I’d like to inform you that your account is charged automatically on your billing date, for this we will not be able to issue refund for the amount that is already charged. However, if you wish you can cancel the account at the end of your current billing date and change to your concern billing plan (monthly) so that you will not be charged again for the same......
OK so as you can imagine I am NOT amused.

Only posting this here to advise players who are changing their billing details to CHECK their credit card statements or you too may be over charged.

Meanwhile, I guess I am in for a fight with EA.

If you have confirmation email of the change to your billing plan, then EA doesn't have a leg to stand on. Call customer service and endure the obscene hold time :( Inform them they have committed credit card fraud, and demand the charge be credited until it is the $12.99 you agreed to.

I imagine this applies in the US too, but since you paid by credit card, you can dispute the payment to your card company (with your email evidence) and they will refund you and take the matter up with EA.

This is why using a credit card is a good plan for online purchases - the credit card company takes the "risk".

I'm not sure she'll want to call Customer Service from Australia. It may not be a toll-free call and with their average wait times of 45 minutes or more, it may be totally out of the question. And using the online chat option on the EA website that you hear about while you're on hold for a UO CSR is an absolute joke. The online chat person will probably tell her to post about her problem on the UOForums website. They're pretty clueless.

Miss Echo, I'm so sorry to hear you're calling it quits! You will be missed.

Yes well I do have the email evidence, as well as my cc statement with the date of charge, days after the confirmation email, and yes, Tina you are correct, there is no way I want to call Customer Service from Australia.

I did notice in their emails to me the only number they gave was NOT toll free. I guess unless you are a citizen of the USA you are expected to pay international dialing rates for customer complaints. Most companies generally give a toll free international number if they have overseas customers.

LOL anyways I wrote back to em and am awaiting another response., although I seriously do NOT expect to get anywhere. My experience with EA customer service has been Abysmal and I doubt it will ever get any better.

I noticed on their website where I had to 'post' my initial question, when after the 24 hr deadline had expired and I had NOT heard back that when looking for my Question that wasn't there and you click on it and get a generic 'blah blah' response as to 'why' you can't see your question that around 1392 out of 5980 odd were satisfied with the response. (less than 1/3 rd) They really need to take this 'statistic' off their page, it is pretty damning and does NOT inspire confidence.

its happened to me several times on the account that i pay for every 90 days.
i make the payment and remove the billing info. then i let the time run out. but it seems to almost always come back AFTER i delete it.
you have to actually delete it twice.. so if you wait till about a week before your due and then go in and delete it, you still get charged if you dont log back in and check to see if it was actually removed..

I`d just call the CC company and get a charge back. Let them deal with EA`s stupidity.

Good luck! :)

Doesn't it say somewhere about how they run it 5 days prior to the billing date? Assuming this, Wouldn't the 12th be 5 days prior to the 18th? Just thinking that's what happened.

I doubt you will get anywhere trying to talk with EA, so as people have already said take it up with your CC company.
