Faction blessing will officially not be coming back to Siege![]()
Can anyone clear up if Siege allowed faction blessings before it was broken? In the Siege article on UOGuide it mentions faction blessing was possible. The Siege bless is bad enough. Siege does not need any more blessed items. Go back to trammel...la
It would hurt real crafters and destroy what little is left of PvP the way it should be.This is bad news. Blessed faction armor would increase participation and create an incentive to capture towns. Also remember that the number of items you can wear is tied to rank. So you can't just join a faction and never kill anyone. You would need at least rank 6 to wear a complete suit that only lasts 3 weeks. This would revitilize crafting, PVP, farming monsters for silver, etc.
How the hell would you know? People complained about those one hit kill blessed val spear carriers, but there wasn't a lot they could do about it. Those that used faction blessing armor were teased unmercifully. You act like you were there, lol. This was back before HOT was the zerg it is today...laIt is clear that the current Siege population isn't what it used to be. Faction blessings used to be on Siege but now suddenly it is not acceptable. Pretty much the only real bonus there used to be for owning towns was making blessed armor.
If the archives were up you could search for "faction blessing" and find twenty incarnations of this exact thread, with these exact arguments coming from pretty much these exact posters, over the course of the last six or seven years. It is clear that the current Siege population isn't what it used to be. I am not sure how having to craft one suit of armor, then never craft again revitalizes crafting. This would revitilize crafting, PVP, farming monsters for silver, etc.

Without bless, I craft my armor, I die and lose it, so i craft more.
Tell me, are there GM armor vendors on your production shard? Do they get lots of business? I am betting there are none. Take a walk around Siege, they are all over.
It is difficult for me to even imagine where your idea that crafters will benefit from bless comes from... its purely asinine.
But once they had their perfect suit they never needed to make more.actually youd be surprised. alot of people went throught up to 10 brarbed kits every 3 weeks just to get their perfect suit. and about people loosing their gm armor vendors, thats not really a way to make money. i bet with leather and vendor costs, the 3k or whatever per suit wont even allow them to get even.
UO has always been item dependent. Force, Vanquishing, Hardening, Invul, all made a huge difference in survivability. But once they had their perfect suit they never needed to make more.
This results in EA needing to release 'better' equipment, to give a bigger goal to players. Then the process repeats and UO becomes item dependent.
Because on normal shards, non factions can insure their items so it don't really matter if an item is blessed or insured. But you could also do the runic hammers on normal shards. So why is it going to be such a big issue on Siege when on normal shards it was not?
I am talking about before Age of Shadows. There was no insurance then anywhere.Because on normal shards, non factions can insure their items so it don't really matter if an item is blessed or insured.
If it is then unbless the Runebooks also if they haven't already.JC you will never win that argument here. Siege is a no-Bless zone. Please move along!
I've proposed that many times. Unbless everything, and eliminate the Siege bless. Yeah buddy...in a heartbeat...laIf it is then unbless the Runebooks also if they haven't already.
Before AoS, GM armor was useful for PvP and easy/cheap to make. Sure it was a pain Factions could bless theirs but you could get a GM suit and a weapon for around 1k, a little more if you wanted plate.I am talking about before Age of Shadows. There was no insurance then anywhere.
Runebooks are not neutral in combat situations as it allow players to jump arround to patrol PvP and PvM spots. In this case, and this case alone, we should consider keeping functional items (those somewhat neutral in combat situations, runebooks, etc.) blessed.
Spellbooks and Runebooks should not be blessed, we did well in the past with lootable runes. If we allow inscribers to copy a full spell or runebook, it would not be worse than losing a weapon. It should cost the count of runes/blank scrolls in the book to copy a book.-but unblessing spellbooks and runebooks would hurt this too, because magery is so popular, anyone wanting to play a mage will get pretty frustrated finding a full spellbook every time they die. (might boost the need for scribes though)
also Eliminate dog archers and bushdo from siege as well,I've proposed that many times. Unbless everything, and eliminate the Siege bless. Yeah buddy...in a heartbeat...laIf it is then unbless the Runebooks also if they haven't already.
