I am not sure how long the guy has been spamming, but know he has been spamming it for evey bit of 4 hours now.

spamming a website of any nature or even talking about a website other than uo.com, uo.stratics.com or uoguide.com in open chat or general chat is against the TOS/ROC for UO. instead of coming here all you had to do was page a harrassment report targeting that player. usually on GL that takes care of it.

Mentioning websites is not allowed in UO.
I would say even stratics should not be alolowed as it is easier so that there are no exceptions. Because why should one fanpage have rights others don't

Maybe I need to xshard to GL then lol, cause on Atlantic it usually takes hours and hours to get a result. I have no doubt that in the four hours I have known about it a bunch have already paged. Seeing as how those higher than GM's on the food chain with EA/Mythic *waves to Bleak lurking* watch Uhall on most occasions I figured this would get a faster result

RMT websites throw player books to advertize their business. Why wouldn't they do that? It's not like GMs could stop them.

GM's can't seem to stop anybody lol. I know 8 folks that have paged on the guy and yet he is still standing and spamming. It's REALLY sad what UO is coming to. You have someone who HEAVILY violates TOS and nothing happens, but let someone slip and say the R-Word and they are gone within the hour. C'est la vie
Maybe they should add a new feature (not sure how though) to trial accounts that would not let them spam/repeat stuff.
Or just get better GMs...

Supposebly they can ban by IP which is also changable but stronger than banning an account. All these .com and other spammers are using Trail accounts. If it s know name hes either being hacked, impersonated, or a rock.

This issue has been clarified for the GMs multiple times.
RMT sites aren't allowed, however, mentioning any of the official fan sites IS allowed.

They only do account bans and it's a trial so wouldn't bother paging.
Furthermore, the forums he's advertising are good ones, and I'm glad to see a new UO site springing up. Of course, you have to be careful with these things since if you allow sites to be mentioned, any number of bad things could be thrown in.
But, from a player standpoint, with this particular site being mentioned, I don't see why someone would page. It is illegal though.

Maybe they answer slowly to stupid pages. I had a real problem the other day with a weight bug, primetime at night and it was fixed within 30 minutes.Would have done you no good really. I have been 11 in que since I started this thread.

You can create trial accounts extremely easily.. so just placing constraints on chat would hurt the normal player, and spammers such as this, or for gold selling sites, would still work at full throttle.Maybe they should add a new feature (not sure how though) to trial accounts that would not let them spam/repeat stuff.

It's illegal, that's a reason to page. Why would someone page against a RMT website you ask? No reason to hate RMT, huh?
I think you are either not seeing the consequences or not wanting to see them, lowering their impact. Maybe to excuse yourself for a shameful practice. Either selling or buying, whatever. RMT is a bleeding wound to P2P MMORPGs. You're smart enough to know you can't do whatever you want with your money, but you probably decided to put RMT in the acceptable things you can do. But it's still illegal. And it still has consequences.

Even though i don't see why this is being so debated, i figured out a solution to this situation a long time ago. There was a guy being 10x more annoying at Luna, holding down the spam button at the bank, and nonstop filling the general chat with his nonsense. THIS situation is not bad, if we didn't bank sit for 24/7, then this wouldn't be an issue. However, the solution to these spammers? Simple:
Do not ban them, but have the GMs place them on perma-mute to all players. They think they are still spamming, but no one sees a thing. End of story.

I don´t see how it would hurt casual players trying out a trial account if they implemented something that would put spamming in check. Normal players could still talk as they wish and even if they would spam at the bank about selling/looking for an item they could easily just change the wording a little to be able to keep saying it.This also wouldn't work. I know there have been those in the past on Atlantic that were far worse with spam in both gen chat and banks. As far as not banning them I think that is not acceptable. Not only is this one breaking TOS by advertising website, and also breaking TOS by selling in game goods for RL cash, he is ALSO unattended macro'ing. How many strikes do ya need before drastic action is taken? Oh wait, that's right, stuff has to happen for YEARS and years before they even start talking about trying to find a fix (ie 3rd party progs). They have been trying to "figure" out stopping third party programs since I started playing almost 7 years ago and still nothing lol

Agreed. EA/Mythic never seemed to care at all about sales for rl cash UNTIL the gov't started talking about taxing the sales made. They changed their stance on that immediately after that and even worked with Ebay (which was the main site of selling at the time) to stop hosting auctions of in game goods.

There's such a thing as an IP Address Generator, which makes IP banning useless. I used to know someone who would get on a trial account, cuss out GMs in general chat, get banned, then be back on cussing out the GMs again within 5min.
The point is, this particular guy is a trustworthy player, his site is legit (by this I mean he isn't trying to scam people), and he isn't abusing the spamming. He is doing it in reasonable bursts. Sure, it's illegal, but he's a good guy. No harm, no foul.

This line of thinking in our society today confuses the heck out of me honestly. Right is right, wrong is wrong, and illegal is illegal no matter how good the person doing the illegal actions may be. By this line of thinking anyone can do anything illegal and be overlooked because they are a good person? EA has valid reasons to not allow sites to be spammed, and it is illegal as we know.
The point I think Shinobi and I are trying to make is that while it is illegal to be doing this, from a personal viewpoint there isn't much reason to page.. All this forum does is allow an extra place to talk about UO, and buy/sell items.
Cash trades still happen indirectly through stratics anyways.. It's not hard to pull someone's ICQ and say, "hey are you selling gold?", "would you take cash for that item instead of gold?", etc.
