Wrong Pet!!!

I'm doing the dungeon hythloth event and a person runs over to inform me that i am using the wrong pet. Im using a frost mite. He then proceeds to yell in caps that my pet is the wrong pet and i should learn to lore them because frost mites have low fire resist and everything in hythloth is fire based. I then told him i trained it up to 80% fire resist and that he'll be fine. Then he was just kind of like "oh" and left.

I figured i'd share this lil interaction because i felt it was weird to have a random person tring to tell me how to play my character. Specially considering it didnt seem like they knew what they were talking about. Anyone have a simular thing happen?

I would just assume he means well and don't really play tamer.
To be fair, a lot more people probably wouldn't take time out and busy looking for next mob to kill.

Not wrong if you can keep it alive.

Theoretically a Chiv AI Cu would be the best pet for a tamer that does nothing but run consume.
It has Chiv which does the most damage. The Balrons are lowest in cold and energy resist.

Your AI/RC Frost might would be fine if you can keep it alive. It will not do the most solo damage.

I like my FWW/AI/Chiv Triton. It stays alive with 3 Para Balrons hitting it when I run consume and GoR.

The best pet also depends on the amount of interaction the tamer is willing to give.

Anything that does cold or energy damage will work. The guy on LS with the Greater Dragon has the wrong pet.

Considering pets deal half damage to the Paragons in the "Treasures of " Events, then a RC+AP Frost Mite is actually pretty good for it, especially if you yourself are dealing damage or others are as well. A 120 Chiv+AI 100% Cold Damage Platinum/Crimson Drake (or Krampus Frost Drake) would deal more damage per hit (but not by much, due to halved damage), but the RC+AP can easily overcome that if the Beetle isn't the only source of damage against the Paragon. Frost Mites can get some beastly stats too, and are tanky due to 1,000+ HP.
