One of the smaller houses went to the original placer. We have worked out a deal being that I am leaveing Lake Austin. All will be happy. Even the new placer.

Please do not come to LS. We prefer that our GMs help players with problems.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression you can't resize right away because you'll be stuck with the "You placed a house within so and so time and must wait" timer. I suspect the person resized and found he can't place now and so called a GM. In this instance, the plot is still held for him for that hour, but he slammed into this issue.

Aye, if he already had a house somewhere else.

That happened to me one time...

I was at an idoc next to my house. I managed to place at the idoc. After placing, my original house goes IDOC. I went to resize my new house... it took down the new house, but I couldn't replace the bigger size because it looked like I'd tried to place a house more than once that week.. when in all actuality, I was only trying to resize the new house.

In other words, the game thought that the house I'd just placed and the house I was trying to place after I did the "I wish to resize my house" were 2 seperate houses. I guess if you look at it a certain way they are...

The problem with resizing a house in that situation is that there is no warning that you're about to lose both of your houses. Either you know about it or you don't.

I expect that's what happened to this guy, and I can't blame him for paging a GM to help out if that was the case.

They should really make a warning gump for that too, IMO. I've seen this happen dozens upon dozens of times to different people.

I tried LS many years ago back in 99.. there were ALOT of players with large egos like yourself there so I decided to stick with Atlantic and LOA. (they did also have ALOT of very nice players, but more than not.. snotty) I have no desire to ever go back to LS so you can rest your worry little head about that one... :stretcher:

You speak in contradictions. You want a GM to help if it a resizing issue but not this time???

Why would the original guy put a house down if he didnt want it? Clearly the guy could not get the size he wanted so he gave up and let a friend try.
If this was the case.. then if he lifted the plot.. the area is fair game to everyone to place....

This post is a dead issue now. I have spoken to the person that orriginally placed. He told me what had happened. Yes there was a cry wolf thing (GM is here helping me now) and yes there was assumption on my part (Believing the GM was there helping him and holding the area for him)

What happened was when the guy tried to resize.. the banners would not let him.. but he did not know that. You only have a certain amount of time to palce after a house is put in resize state. After the house was taken up.. evidenty the "no place" thing stuck around for about 15 mins after he lifted his plot up. In the end.. there was a lie and an assumption. Thus the start of this thread.

So now YOU have made other assumptions with my daughter and myself. NEITHER of us have any thoughts about even visiting your shard. And oh by the way.. you make a great ambassador for Lake Superior.

If it was "just help in resizing" then that would not be an issue.. but this was not the case at all. The guy lifted his plot then claimed the GM was there helping him and "holding" the spot for him until he could place..that was his words...

But as I said.. this is a dead issue now.. the person that placed where the orriginal guy did is willing to give up his spot to the first guy.. And I am giving him my plot. So all is well over here on Lake Austin.. and... Oh by the way.. the GM's are great so far on all the shards I've ever played and was in need of help from a GM.... At least 99% of the time.

In the end.. there was a lie and an assumption. Thus the start of this thread.

So this whole thread was a rant based off of assumptions and gullibility, got it.

Kudos to admitting it.

At least the OP admits it. Most wouldn't.

I stand by my view:

A guy won the placement battle but a fault in the game, the flags, caused him not to be able to put the house the size he wanted. A GM should help by holding the spot or placing a house and giving it to the guy.

And I rest my case about LS.

(sorry about mis quoteing LA for LS. LA was a great shard, just not enough folks there to do stuff with. That's the only reason why I'm moveing off of that shard.)
