I'm sorry, all I heard was "Sure being able to buy things is a vital game function, and sure it takes hours of aimless wandering to do in UO. But you know, wandering between vendors for hours or days on end provides me a sort of petty amusement. Screw anyone who doesn't play eight hours a day. I enjoy having 90% of the UO economy owned and operated by a handful of shady gold-selling Luna search websites."

How extraordinarily jaw-droppingly selfish you lot are. Sorry guys, nobody can have effective tools for participating in the economy, a couple of kooks on the forums don't want to lose the "magic" of it taking eight hours to find what you're trying to buy. Everyone else go use a search site. Try to ignore all the ads for duped gold.

Not another post on how we should change the game becauses others created a site with search feature.

Someone please give me examples of what is so dang hard to find on vendors. WHAT WHAT WHAT.

I sense a need for a new UO skill! It could be called "merchant intelligence," and would be similar to mining and treasure chests, how you have to mine around the area to find the treasure. Train the new skill that you can buy in a booster pack to 100, and youll have a better chance at finding the vendor that is listed on the global search. At 0 skill you would be directed to the nearest rock in the middle of a forest.

EA was on CNBC this morning stating that they wish to reduce EA games by 40% in the next corporate year.

Anything that diverts focus from true improvements for this game is not needed. Sure a group of shady gold sellers provide a website which "might" use a program to list the items for sale but what damage is that? I do not buy the purchase and resale idea, if this was the case people would still transfer to asia to stock up but this seems to happen less often and if someone wantes to purchase a scroll for 9 mil only to sell if for 15 then the seller got his/her price and no one lost out.

This is just like the near legal scripting issue, those that wish to use a website shall do so and those that wish to remain pure will be such. I suspect that if mythic added such a feature and it failed this would do nothing for the warm fuzzy feelings we already have for them and might just drive another nail in...fix the real issues first please.

yup. agreed.

As CEO of EA I would not have very many reasons to persist with UO, other than perhaps maintaining some bragging rights for having the oldest/longest running MMORPG. I think UO about now is sort of financially neutral to them, though... Further development of this game may therefore not cost much. I personally do not expect developmental miracles in the next few years. Happy with that though... game has been good enough for me for more than a decade... Nobody should act surprised if the axe falls though.

I just enjoy playing all the other aspects of the game so much more than browsing vendors for items I want to purchase. call me lazy all you want, but the joy I have been getting out of UO since someone was kind enough to point me to a search uo vendor site has been an important part of why I am still here. I don't want this feature worked on for booster or publish though. Waste of time, money and resources... Just continue to condone the presence of these sites and all is fine in the universe.

I also do not like roleplaying. same sort of issue... to each their own. (I know, difficult analogy)

I am washing my hard of this thead haha, I am obviously in the minority here.

I like UO so much because of its emersiveness, Id like to stay away with things that remind you ( They you are playing a game)

I liked that shops were spread threwout the land, and you might get burned, or you might find an awesome deal.

Richard Garriott intended for UO to be allmost like a simulated world where your actions effected the outcome of that world. changes like this take the richard garriott out of ultima online.

They generate gold there by micro management and trade at certain income rates with other shards. Gaining massive gold on other shards from there dealings in siege. Remmeber the exchange rate is a massive difference.They have a much ludricative endever they consider things as a business. I could never get into that. I enjoy playing in my shard and do this for fun. Though there downfall is the dwindling pop of siege and the rest of the shards. Of course thats the downfall of all of us as well.

Yeah, and 90% of the UO economy is conducted through them because we don't have an in-game vendor search. Oh but at least a couple of forum kooks can experience the magic of not being able to find items quickly.

Without having to ignore the vendor search, I mean. Sure they could just ignore it the way I imagine they must already ignore existing search sites, but we don't want to tempt the poor dears.

Oh and at least the current system stops people from getting away with being lazy in their internet video game shopping habits. (That's a real and important consideration that people should care about!) I mean, it stops them unless they just use Luna search sites. Which everyone does.

It's 2010, almost 2011 - vendors have changed little since the original implementation, they need an update.

AO has a very simple search system that would be sufficient, I don't think anyone is asking for a Lotro/Wow auction house at this point. Besides, UO doesnt have a mail system to handle the transactions.

However, if it were a paid feature - I would expect ... more, of what I dont know. Maybe as part of a much larger housing booster.

Search with many filter options, get a list with pricing, name and coordinates to the terminal - you still have to get there yourself.

Keep it to a search - no purchasing mechanism equals little/no potential for exploitation or game altering bugs. Don't want it, dont use it.

The only people who would say no to this are the total morons who bought a luna house.

Simple step to help make one facet of the game more user friendly, god knows it needs it. I have a large rune collection to houses I visit when I play - which is increasingly rare these days - and it simply takes too long.

I've tried the "search engine", honestly it sucks - nothing I ever find on there even exists.

Actually, that isn't true.
They will search any vendor on the shard. I have a vendor house in the Zento and it is searched. All you have to do is go to these websites and submit your vendors to be searched with the coordinates.

not exactly true... you can submit your vendor location where ever it may be. Several vendors are found outside of luna. not many bother to get their vendor in the system though... Not done it myself, but i have spotted tokuno vendors on there and even the odd yew vendor.

Where is the "No, it already screwed up trading enough!" option?

if it comes to something where prices should be viewable at one place, i would suggest making an auction house kinda thing in stead, where anyone can put there goods in this place, and likewise anyone could browse.

this pose the problem however of making a heart of uo (being vendoring) might die out somewhat or completly, but id prefer to keep vendors and wish ppl didnt use these sites too much.

there is a worrying tendancy on especially lower pop shards to presume that if its not on these sites its not for sale this is not true there are many vendor places around normally _OUTSIDE_ Luna, which is not covered by these search sites. and then you can spam runes or gates as much as you like for no gain

our shop is just one example, its not that we cant afford luna vendors or even a luna house, but we disagree with the general mentality of luna. and also got more common goods to offer not sold much other places. (with younger players in mind mostly)
