Pretty simple question. Some of the items that seem to clutter the homes of many are:

-SOS/MIB's
-Fishing Nets
-Holiday Items: Stuffy's, cards, candy canes, turkey feathers, cornucopia's.
-Virtue Artifacts
-Recipes
-Low end runics and BOD rewards such as bear rubs, tapestries, prosp tools, etc.
-Talismans
-Treasure Maps
-Stolen and low end artifacts.
-Low end rarely if ever used imbuing ingredients.

Out with the old, in with the new. Many of these items are gained from daily game play and we don't want to get rid of them, as some are rare or useful, but not worth the effort. Some items that come to my mind are: LVL 1-5 Maps, recipes like the Night ****r, Sylvani's Feywood bow, Barbed Long bow, prospector tools/garg pickaxes, virtue artifacts from doing spawns etc.

Actually, I'd like to see a Spring Cleaning event like the first one. All items you turn in are rewarded with points. I have so much...garbage...in my tower that I am tempted to just throw it all out.

Of course, I am tempted to also throw it all in the trash barrel and then cancel my accounts...so I am a bad person to ask :(

Spring Cleaning was a rare event, and should remain that way. We've only had 2 in 13 yrs, so why are people expecting to have one every year all of a sudden?

Oh, and HELL NO.

If your house is cluttered, then start throwing the crap out instead of keeping it.

Why, because todays players are nothing but greedy Daffy Ducks, (see video on other post).....I agree, keep it rare, and toss things out. Pack rats are very insecure people.

If you don't use it in a year, or touch it, hell, even look at it.....sell or toss.

I agree with no.

This event has only happened twice in UO history and should remain a rare and random event. Not yearly. I get so tired of people bringing this up and saying how unfair it is. I have been playing this game since I was 10, for 10 years, and I missed both, but I'm not crying. Considering there was one only 2 years ago, there's no way it's time.

Stop saving junk and just throw it out. Seriously. Saving for events like this is just ridiculous.

I'd love to hear the reasons behind people saying "Yes" though.

My stuffys are the rarer white items ... especially the white horse. No way I'm trashing it.

Cards, candy, etc went trash bin quite a while ago and much was turned in last time around.

As for the rest ... I have a couple crafters would love to paw thru recipes for ones they're missing, give reasonable pay for them then the owner(s) could do turn-in on the rest. <shrug> I have a miner that will take as many prospectors tools as folks want to get rid of. PM me - I'm on LA

In case I wasn't too clear ... I voted no. Between unraveling and trash cans I see no need.

It doesn't really matter to me. Its not like it was that great anyways,
the sorc suit was the best thing to get and they made it so easy being able to go kill that mini boss with pots and get 25k points.

My reason for voting "yes" is not because of clutter, but because it was an event I enjoyed. That's all, really. I liked the rewards - I still have my horse barding, yucca tree, and beehive - and it gave me something to do on my own time, since I usually miss the one-day EM events due to my timezone/the shard I play on.

I liked it for the same reason I like the Library, Zoo, and Museum donation things, I suppose.

I can understand wanting to keep it as a random special event, though.

Im going with no.

Im greedy and got almost all the items from the last turn in 100 times over and i want them to keep there value.

/sarcasm

Seriously though, i am saying no.

I dont see why they should...there cant be much clutter after only 2years UNLESS people have been specifically saving for this event. In which case, its your own fault!!

I have alot of clutter, i have tonnes of that invasion armour as im getting ready to imbue and enance a whole blood red plate and dark black plate suit.

I voted no, and here's why:

Anything they do in the form of a new "gimme stuff" event would take away developer time from issues which I, personally, consider higher priority tasks.

That and I'm still not worn out from the last group of new stuff they tossed in the game. When I have my Fey-slayer bow and book and the novelty of them has worn out, then I might want more new stuff.

Spring Cleaning doesn't need to be in place again since not enough time has passed to accumulate junk. Should be a rare event.

Suggestions instead:
Have Ophidian Rations stop dropping. That way we don't have the need to save them.

Finish Stacking Issues. I'd rather they fix the cooking ingredients from paragons, to stack like they said they would (vanilla, cocoa, sugar). This would free a lot of storage.
Fix Ant Goo to stack, and Ancient scrolls and any new Abyss stuff that's not stacking.

I'd rather have a jewelry box to stack my rings and bracelets that would function like a BOD book. (lists rings and has a sort feature). On second thought... who saves jewelry anymore since imbuing came out?

Lol, this is exactly the same thing I did, down to the colors that I kept. A little tip, if you're making it mage armor.......ditch the helm and the gorget and go with Hat of the Magi and Pendant of the Magi. If it's Mage Armor the resists are going to be crap after you imbue LRC, LMC, and a few points of MI. I went with 70/69 Phy/Fire and 58 Energy, with the rest just being what it is with all of the 2's and 3's added up.

I like this answer and luved the daffy analogy vid  (may edit and add it to be sure)
I agree - but wouldn't be pissed if it happened.

Side reminiscent note: My little gang did enjoy the Vanguard killing for the sword & shield turn in for good points rack (but that was not cleaning it was farming) and the pony's were/are uber kewl - made some new 'play pals' at Vanguard spawn. Still digging my snake skin boots, horse barding, and bee hive. I didn't really have much to dig out of storage just farmed new stuff to get points and prizes. The whole series of events that surround that spring cleaning era (Vanguards/Moonglow invasion) was my favorite in the past ~ 5 years - but that was due to the story line and new spawns to mess with and new peeps to hang with that seemed to have come out of the woodwork to play-

This Saturday taking pick up load or 2 to 'the dump' of things I haven't looked at, touched, or used in few years irl:thumbup1:

I voted yes, I didnt farm things, I just turned in what I had already for the last cleaning, so I didn't get everything 100x over, I only got the sorcerer's suit, all the shirts cause i like to collect and they were cheap :p, 2 of the sashes (black and white), snake skin boots, and night sight earrings. Now this sounds like a lot but there were way way way more things to get and I would have liked to get more of it. So maybe keep the turn-ins, points, and rewards all the same, just to let those of us that didn't get most of everything 100x over, a chance to get some more cool stuff :).

(Plus my luck, I got a pair of snake skin boots that can't be dyed :sad4:).

Not everyone were around for the last spring cleaning event.

As its named "spring cleaning", it should really happen every spring.

Its greedy players like you thats the bane of UO.
I'm not being greedy at all. Hell, I could use a few more of the items myself right now, but this event wasn't intended to be something repeated on a regular basis. The Dev's have already stated this was the case, so don't expect to see one anytime soon.

Well I have a question to you people saying no then. Why shouldn't it happen every year? What would be so terrible for everyone if it were to happen on a regular basis? Not like there is anything to get that is game altering in any way at all. I don't see how this would be bad for anyone except those of you that want to be greedy and say "Nope, you can't have what I have, its valuable and I dont want my stuff to lose its value." Pretty lame. And to those of you that don't care either way, then vote yes and don't participate if you don't want to.

This game is all gimme gimme gimme this item and that item and everything else that's cool. We never used to get items from EM events - it was about showing up and having fun. And if we did, there was only a few that dropped on bodies. No sashes or spy glasses or cloaks or hats - none of that. Now it's all about the items at events, and it's all about getting as many points for more junk and getting as many TOTs as possible.
Some of you new players have never had to work hard for a single thing.
This is why we can't have nice events anymore.
I agree that things like TOT an other long running events are fun, but they should stay rare and keep items rare. You guys will have your chances too. So just friggin' chill. If they did they every year, it would get as boring as TOT became.

Not if they don't make the event and there's no reason to wait years on these things, they should be more common and enjoyable.

Just out of idle curiosity, which of the planned projects would you have them shelf to make room in their schedule for this unplanned event?
The events leading to the rebuilding of Magincia?
The 3rd party and speed hack fixes?
The factions re-vamp?
Or the other things that are in the plan that we don't know about yet?
There are only so many hours in a day, and days in a week. I know from simple observation that the dev team already work more hours per week than most employees.

1.) Just 'cause you weren't around for the FIRST two that last like, five months, doesn't mean you need to whine like a little baby. You can get these items by buying them and you can get them by, you know, IDOCing.

2.) The devs have said it. I believe it was on an FOF but I'm having problems finding it. Any help from ya'll would be nice. I'll keep looking.

No sir, I wasn't there for #1 or #2. I got these items by working hard to buy them or sitting at IDOCs for them. They're rare, and should remain so. The event is fun 'cause you get AWESOME items, and if you do this yearly, not so easy.
This isn't a game that should be a walk in the park, nor should it be work. But you can't always expect things to just be handed to you, and that's what you want.

You're automatically assuming that its the same people being taken away from the other things.

And on another note, why are those issues more important? Different people want different things. I don't give a hoot about Magincia, 3rd party fixes, factions, etc.

Re instituting spring cleaning event is a relatively small thing to create, as the basics are already there from the last event.

Events are fun because they give useful things and people have fun getting it at the same time.

I've no idea which members of the team would have to be pulled away from what they're doing. I do know they'd have to be pulled away from something. We don't have team members sitting around twiddling their thumbs awaiting your call to re-run an event because you happened to miss it.

Already enough crap generated by the last spring cleaning. Also, hoarding all those ophid rations upset me, since they were worth so little for the time we hoarded them (and then were also told at the time of the handins they would have a future use again).

I would, however, support a general cleanup of:

- Year 1, 2 and 3 Vet rewards
- Holiday gifts (more points for older stuff)
- Crafted and enhanced armour and weps
- ToT dyes
- Heritage and soulstone tokens/items
- BLACKROCK (both the small pieces and FAR rarer original pieces)
- Any other item created before the date of said cleanup

To be fair they said pretty much the same thing during the first Treasure of Tokuno event and now it's happened what? 3 times and made all the items/artifacts from that event practically worthless except for the mempo and only cause it wasn't released till the 3rd go round. Not to mention in reality whatever devs if any actually said that probably don't even work on UO or for EA anymore....

I don't really see a problem with them redoing the event. The biggest problem with the most recent incarnation of this event was that they basically crapped on everyone who turned in tons of stuff when two weeks into it they made a quest any noob character could do and get a 25k point ticket. This really made the whole turn in aspect seem quite silly as that took way more storage space and effort than running a bunch of noob characters from point A to B and then Xsharding the 25k tickets.

If they redid it i would be for it as long as they didn't add in some stupid quest to make the whole turn in aspect of the spring cleaning not even worthwhile. Had they not done that all the items would be significantly more rare and they could have had the event every year and kept the items rare & worthwhile for players to strive for every spring.

In short i vote YES as long as there is NO 25k point ticket quest involved with it!!!!!

No, but we do have members working on events, you could just as well say that the housing event is useless waste of dev time.

And its not necessarily a re-run, it could just as well be with new items. And its not just for people who missed it, its also for new players and existing players alike.

And as you can see, TWO THIRDS of the forum wants this event, how is it a waste when its something that over 66% wants? Its probably more than wants Magincia restored.

...

Clean Up Britannia was done as an event for people to get something out of junking thousands of items that would be lost when secure containers and limited storage were added.

Spring Cleaning was done as an event because of the number of event items (ophidian invasion, sewer rat coins, etc) that people had stockpiled and, well, told to hold on to them for a future use that never came. It then expanded to uncommon and rare spawning items that people had built up.

Right now, we don't really have a situation out of the players' control where people would have a TON of items built up with no use, at least not to the levels of CUB and SC.

Maybe a while down the road, sure, but for right now... I have to say... nah.
