I have been asking for input on an in-game item search tool in the following thread:
http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=186853
I was wondering if this would be feasible to do given that servers could find any item that exists in someone's house.
Maybe it could be named 'a house indexing tool'? It creates an index from what is in your house/moving crate, you pick out what you're looking for, and it retrieves it for a fee, or gives you directions to it. The fee is to make it a gold sink and to give players something else to spend their gold on. The fee could probably be scaled according to the value of the item and/or the number of secures used in the house. When index search is activated the house does not accept new items, or requests to secure containers/item until the item is found or the character who initiated the search times out or logs off.
Some have suggested it be expanded to include all your character's bank boxes, pack animals, and backpacks on the same shard and account, although I'm not sure including them in the search is actually as simple as it sounds.
