Will there ever be Account to Account character transrfer?

Ok, sorry if this is the wrong forum, as I have not been able to find any information
on it searching around, I am not new to UO, started in the first beta, BUT I am
just now retiring after a 3 year break...

I know we can do Character transfers from shard to shard, but does anyone
know if there will be, is now, or is in the works or is Never going to happen
the ability to transfer characters from 1 account to another account?

I have Multiple accounts with Multiple characters and at this time I only
have the time for 1 account at a time....

sooo any information would be great! Links to EA/Myth information about it
would also be greatly appreciated!

Since there is no possibility of this making money for EA, and a pretty good chance it would let people consolidate characters and therefore close accounts, I can't see it ever being offered.

I don't think it's something they've ever considered, and with the constant problems server transferring has been, I doubt we'll see account to account transferring... especially dealing with things like house ownership issues.

It's the first time in 12 years I've even heard of the concept, so I'd say even if it is on The List, it's down at or below the bottom of it.

There's nothing from the dev team on the issue publically though.

Yep. That's half your reason right there.

The other half would be the negative financial impact to EA if they did such a thing. Customers (such as the OP) would consolidate their accounts and close their extra ones. That's basically the same reason they won't let an account have more than one house.

Well since he was "going out on a limb" to answer, obviously there is no proof since he's "going out on a limb."

But I think I speak for many when I say they better not bring account to account transfers. I don't think EA will ever consider it either.

Its not possible to do, as far as I now there have never been plans for it, and I hope it never does. Its bad enough certain sites are selling "leveling services" to build characters for people. It'd be even worse if they could just buy a token or a completed character from those sites. It reeks of laziness.

Yes, I understand the concerns of Skill Selling, and the closing accounts thing... personally as I stated before, I may just be coming back to play, but I have had 2 active accounts for years and years, 1 keeping a Seer blessed building standing! On the Napa Valley Shard... so trust me I am invested in UO I was just wondering if it was possible... as some other games do, they make sure that the accounts being transferd between are owned by the same person, address, phone etc etc... I understand why this would be difficult in UO... Thanks for all the information.

This will not happen ever. Nice idea in some respects... sure would like to "re-arrange" characters and accounts... Seeing as I have 8 of them.

However the level of abuse that that would cause would be way too great. The selling of skill would be bad... very bad and would pretty much kill UO.

I could see this adding to the problem of the scripters... and whatnot would stink. Not worth it.

Though I still want them to "fix" the housing system back to the KR way so I can co-own all my characters to all my homes again.

Yeah, I've been to them just like 90% of the people who post on this board. What's your point? I'd never use any leveling service, its just stupid and lazy. I'd go into further detail, but I don't need to justify myself to you, and I'd rather this thread say on point rather than be pulled into a discussion of those types of sites.

*edit* to clarify, I think the idea itself is a nightmare waiting to happen. But to call someone who wants to jump right in to a game without the level grind "lazy" is a bit over the top, IMO

They can buy an advanced character token. We don't need a "service" that can hand someone a 6x legendary character. Skill building is part of the game.

Well, as far as it not being possible to do, that's untrue. It's definitely possible, just perhaps not within the current confines of how they have it set up. However, it could definitely (and pretty easily) programmed. In fact, other games offer this service.

I agree that on one hand, this could definitely be an issue given that UO still allows RLT, but it would also be a nice thing to have if you had family on the same account that were planning on getting their own account.

I don't care one way or another, frankly, but it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. Perhaps probability, but that's a whole different word.

Sorry, I meant not possible as in "there is no system currently in place to do it." I know it's possible from a tech standpoint. Sometimes my thoughts come out faster than my fingers can properly convert them to text.

This is legitimately on target for this post.

A long time ago I started playing, and my wife started playing. I'd make a great character, and she would look all sad at me. So, I'd make her whatever it was. This led to multiple accounts, but...

My tamer and her tamer are on the same account. I made more tamers on other accounts, but still it would be nice if we could move her best bard, and her best tamer to other accounts. Besides I'd really like to be able to rock 4 greaters at once. My computer setup will do it.

I know they aren't going to do it. So, I'm not even going to think about it much, but it could be policed simply by making both accounts have to be owned by the same person.
