[Stealing] Will the paper doll always shows the negative Karma?

How can a thief move among the commoners if the paper doll always shows the negative Karma.
Negative karma does not specifically say "thief,thief" but it shows your no paladin.
Come to think of it, even Robin hood would have negative karma. Hmmmm?
