Japanese shard events are usually at around 8am-9am EST. Also you get about as many people there as you do an Atlantic event.
Also, Drach translates everything they say from German to English. You wont have that on the Asain shards tho.
And what do you do about Siege that has players from all over the world? What about players who work 2nd shift? Personally - I know lots of people that play between 12am and 6am regularly. Would this encourage them to close accounts and leave? If so - that's a bad idea all around.
Isn't the closure just for minors?

I guess you have never seen the age polls on UHall? 18 and under are a very small minority of players.
no tazar, that means that the average age of people not banned on stratics or reads stratics and joins in dumb surveys have put as an answer that they are over 18, it doesn't mean anything.
That's ok, for every one person that leaves, more would join as it would make the game better
I strongly doubt it. As most people that play UO are older. While your guild might be young on my shard most of the players are over 25. I would say our senior contingent is even older. Of course there is no reason to shut down the games but it would be a good idea to limit the accounts of those under 18 to maybe an hour a night. That way there would be no way for them to fall behind in school.

Not really, i'd say that the original poster would be trying to benefit at the expense of others, so the minority of people who play out of peak time (that is why it's called PEAK time because the majority of players play at that time) could obtain items when there's little or no competition.
It doesn't, but it means that people are doing spawns at night when Mervyn isn't around and he is continuing his long term whine about it. Afterall, people should ONLY be allowed to play during his preferred time and his preferred template.
so the majority of people play outside of peak time? That is the equivalent of saying the minority of people are the majority. play whatever template you like, just don't do it at 3.00am when you know your competition has school in the morning.
The point people are making, that you are clearly failing to grasp, is that many people play at many different hours. You're going to tell a PAYING subscriber who works odd hours but is available late night to play that he can't play his "local" shard, because it's closed, so they need to play 6 time zones away, with horrible ping, in order to meet their needs? Really? I don't think so.
The needs of the many outweigh those of the few. That's like saying we should only have 3 buttons in the game as some paying players only have one hand.
My last post, since I'm unfortunately feeding the trolls. What "needs" of what "many"? You are they only one asking for a shard closure. Clearly you are not the "many". Why does it matter if some folks want to, or need to, play late night. If you're in bed because you have class, why do you care if they play? Are they affecting your sleep?
The same could be said about unattended scripters then.
