Why so many slots?

From what I understand, they were nerfed during the beta test where they (the skree) were overpowered.
But now, they aren't worth four slots. I wouldn't consider them worth two.
That doesn't stop me from training mine up, but I would never use it for actual hunting.

I trained one up to all 90's, then found it couldn't kill a poison elemental unless I kept the thing peaced so that it didn't heal up. I stabled the poor embarrassed thing.
