Why no Reptalons?

I don't really play a tamer much unless its on one of my dreadmare pvpers.

Why aren't reptalons used? Looking at UOGuide they seem to have pretty high hit points and firebreath. Since firebreath dmg is based off of hitpoints, I would think these do pretty well in the PvP setting.

Is this not right? Why does no one use them?

Short answer ? They are way weaker both in attack and defense than other tames of their level and taming slots requirement and taming them is a pain on top of all that.

Simply, they are not worth it at all....................

They were nerfed years back and stayed useless since then.

From time to time some players bring up a campaign to save the poor Reptalon and give it some love but so far, in years, the Developers have not helped the Reptalon at all, unfortunately.

I'm not sure if its obvious to you at first glance, but their stats get halved upon taming.

They really stink to use against most monsters. The do well vs blood eles and suprisingly mine does well in Trav. But they have less HP max than a cu sidhe and worst resists. Their paralyze attack is useless as they immediately hit again to make it go away. Damage they do is usually worse overall than the cu sidhe or the hiryu because of their damage type and strength.

I have a fully trained one for the novelty of it, but it doesn't see much use. If I need a 4 slot pet, I'll take the cu sidhe out.

Every now and then I do send in suggestions to EA on what they could do to help out the poor things. Trading out paralyze for a bleed attack would be a nice start.

Personally the fully trained ones I have kick paralyze in quite a bit. It is rather a hoot to watch when a monster can't move half the time.

To answer your question though Lynk...pretty much ever since Greater Dragon's came out, that made Reptalon's obsolete.

I myself still like them as Hinotori pointed out. Great damage I still see against Travesty. Unfortunately...you have to vet like mad just to keep the poor guy alive. As long as your reptalon is off-tanking though, you can really have a field day. *sigh*...They just aren't as effective as they used to be. It's too bad.

Well I have a bushido/parry tamer that I use in PvP that uses a dread mare now. I was going to let a friend use the dread and I was going to find another rideable pet that does alot of damage. It was between Reptalon and Hiryu, Hiryu does wicked dmg but if it whiffs thats it, at least reptalon has firebreath but doesn't seem like its worth it. Para attack does me no good because I would be para shotting and then dismounting w/ riding swipe.
