...
Yeah it might drop sub rates down some, but it would make a lot more players happier overall, and it's an idea that gets my vote MANY times over the "shard merger" idea that gets floated occasionally.
>Existing players<
Fair point managing an "asset"/grandfathered house ... ya got TWO, Now
and it (?) would cost you one to move the other ...
I'm just wondering what the point would be, considering the low pop condition
of >giving< a survivor
(>Existing player<) More room to store More junk (can't play both >at once< now can they)
and making it more likely to drop one holding account, generating payments ...
and the shards remaining >just< as many houses/ and as few players ...
with whatever LESS income remains ...
Looks good on the surface as a reasonable thang in regards a single player on a single account
BUT the Multi account single player(single owner/payer)
could(would be smart money wise TO) stop paying Half the holding accounts (3pymnts a year)
and STILL have the storage filled for the inactive accounts ... a house's worth and accessible, more so even .. free .. and the stocked characters in stasis
when >> that "income bubble bursts"
small as it might be ...
Well if the games does go down(over lack of income) ... it goes down with all aboard ... yes?
*shrugs* Just saying, yes ... I think >each paying account< is of concern >at this time< ...
I know for a FACT that there will be two "slots" to fill and replace of steady income, come january.
I suspect there will be a slow winking out of "forgotten" auto accounts because of the recent disturbance of the migration (at least a few each month for the next five months)
and all that played out against the known trickle of normal attrition, lost friends, lost interest, too few people to login and fail to get a good fishing party of three with any regularity ... they'll look ... but after 20 minutes (which used to be an hour) ... they'll give up and leave (or just log out ... but for how many more times? ).
To be frank, I maybe being too maudlin and over cautious. things were somewhat stable, looking up in fact, for me, larisa back and perky as ever, an ingame rp friend returned, firedup! and raring to go, full of stories and ideas, had a successful finish to a set of arcs on a shard that a friend had asked assistance with ... was recently returned to the "Home sweet home shard", placed houses in more desirable spots, one on the place of an old enemy ... sweet revenge that, I'll Tell you ... 7 years of a bitter vendetta grudge ... and I get the win, the spot, the keep. the HA! outlasted you! Dancing on your grave-site in sweet vindication and joy ..
*shrugs* maybe THAT "jinxed it"
Migration started two days later, and three days after that ... was trying to wrangle a way out of closing the accounts ...
No way around it though; Family law: money handlers ONLY get ONE fumble, never an excuse or a do-over ...
*shrugs*
has worked perfectly for the family for over a hundred and fifty years, no means no and Once means one, to err results in a mark on your permanent record,
and it would be
(IS! by god!) stupid to die with a lie on your lips or in your heart or to be discovered by a family member,
never mind "the public" ...
stupid honor ... made me quit.
I maybe being too maudlin and over cautious. But to be frank, one should also be honest, this feels like a "final settling in".
This feels like a deathbed watch.
granted, I promised(myself, outloud) to be among the Last present when the lights went out ... Don't know if I can do it from the sidelines, and find out another unforeseen(recently realized)
... from the sidelines I may detect that >everyone
is gone< and yet, the lights remain on, the harddisks are idling ... waiting for someone to log on ...
O'well
Time Will tell
I'm just not enjoying the current direction, but I might be pleasantly surprised by the next twist.
Fayled.Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow!
You cataracts and hurricanes, spout
Till you have drench’d our steeples, drown’d the flocks!
You sulphurous and thought-executing fires,
Vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts,
Singe my white head! And thou, all-shaking thunder,
Strike flat the thick rotundity o’ the world!
Crack nature’s moulds, all germens spill at once
That make ingrateful man!
Fool. O nuncle, court holy-water in a dry house
is better than this rain-water out o’ door.
Good nuncle, in, and ask thy families’ blessing;
here’s a night pities neither wise man nor fool.
Fayled. Rumble thy bellyful! Spit, fire! spout, rain!
Nor rain, wind, thunder, fire, are my Avatars:
I tax not you, you elements, with unkindness;
I never gave you kingdom, call’d you as My alts,
You owe me no subscription: swiftly then, let fall
Your horrible pleasure; here I stand, your audience,
A poor, infirm, weak, and despis’d old man.
You heavens, give me that patience, patience I need!
You see me here, you gods, a poor old man,
As full of grief as age; wretched in both!
If it be you that stir these characters’ hearts
Against their fellow player, fool me not so much
To bear it tamely; touch me with noble anger,
And let not women’s weapons, water-drops,
Stain my man’s cheeks! No, you unnatural thing, No!
I will have such revenges on UO accountants
That all the world shall—
I will do such things,—
What they are yet I know not,—
but they shall be Great and The terrors of the earth.
You think I’ll weep;
No, I’ll not Weep ...
