A simple solution to the Luna problem is for everyone to start shopping in Zento instead. Show those Luna ripoff artists that you don't need them.
Ooooo...What if the search option had to be paid for, like advertising? Base cost is the same as vendor charges, and an additional fee is charged on whatever you sold? The fastest way for EA/Mythic to "fix" the Luna problem, and a lot of the inflation in the game, is to offer a method of vendor search of their own. If I could look up Violet Courage, for example, I would see it selling in Luna for 250k, or somewhere else, like Hawkeye's shop...for example...for 10k. How long before the Luna prices would have to come down and compete.
But we know it won't happen. Too much work, too much money to be lost by EA/Mythic and some people that seem to get some preferred status.
I thought of that idea after the invasion there..everywhwere there was a shop let players place housing there and it be a mall of the sort.hmm, while that might be an interesting concept, I can't say I agree with you on that one.
My personal opinion would be that turning Magincia (A faction stronghold btw) into a giant Mall would be a horrible idea.
Again, that's just my personal opinion, and as the saying goes 'one man's meat is another man's poison' It's an idea that's likely to get some support, just not from me.
I already do shop at your place daily.. Lets try not to let EVERYONE know it's there. Great shop.A simple solution to the Luna problem is for everyone to start shopping in Zento instead. Show those Luna ripoff artists that you don't need them.![]()
Today, I took my vendor out of business. I had a well-stocked vendor somewhere in Britannia. Runes had been layed out regularly to advertise the vendor. It sold very decent runic crafted armor and weapons, high-end jewelry, some artifacts. I sold items that are prized on Luna vendors for 200k for 5k. Jewelry others sell for 10k I sold for 1k. Still, the vendor hardly created any revenue. In some weeks, the vendor fees were higher than the income.
Problem is, having a vendor outside Luna hardly makes sense. Luna vendors are scanned by scripted characters and items are entered into a database. Finding items you need in Luna is a hundred times more easy than finding them on a "regular" vendor. The vendor system thus is very unbalanced.
I hope that the UO developers will some day come up with a solution for this. Meanwhile, I will cease all my vendor activities. And no, I will not place a vendor in Luna. That is out of question.
I agree,i never understood why zento didn't hit off better than luna.A simple solution to the Luna problem is for everyone to start shopping in Zento instead. Show those Luna ripoff artists that you don't need them.![]()
For that, I'll pay 9.99!A vendor search engine by EA (ingame) could also be a basis for a search engine to search your house, your chars and their bank boxes for certain items with filters like locked down, in secure box, accessible by this char and marking the containing box in house with a tracking like arrow etc to help with questions like:
Where is my Jackals?
I know I had some roses somewhere in a box, but where are they?
Where does my personal bless deed stuck?
That taming ring and bracelet - where are they?
MY soulstones - where did I leave them?
Make such feature a sellable house addon - i.e. house keeper maybe?

I like Zento too, almost got a plot after it went IDOCI agree,i never understood why zento didn't hit off better than luna.
The music, the art and the area i think is 100% better than luna.
Zento is a little bigger than Luna but has more house plots, most of which are vendor houses from what I've seen. Just about all of them offer better prices than anything in Luna too. I don't know, it just confounds me as to why it never really caught on with most players. However, I also understand why Luna is more popular, everything is compacted into a small area, you don't have to cover so much ground to find something...
Yeah, people don't realize how much time and dedication it takes to keep a consumable vendor stocked. Especially if you have potion kegs, stone and wood furniture, bolts/arrow/throwing stars, and acid proof rope/bone machetes for sale. I keep seeing people who toss the kegs on the ground when there empty, if you could please return these to your potion vendor if they have a return box. Having to make 20 kegs every day or two can get pretty old.I have always had a luna vendor. I stocked consumables at first but found whenever i got on at nite the first thing i'd have to do was make another 20 thousand arrows. I'm relatively new to this game (2 years) so for me there was and still is so much more to see and do, to experience the game and build up my characters.
As I didn't want to take up my game time making arrows I also don't want to get on every nite an crank out 100 runes.
I'm not impugning anyone else's playstyle. This is just me.
good luck.
Agreed.I would strongly disagree with this. I have had my vendor house in 2 different remote locations in Malas, and now in Tokuno, and have made as much in the past few years I've had it going as some people that own inside the wall Luna houses. It's all a matter of what you sell, how often you stock, and how much you advertise. If you're not getting good results, try expanding your inventory to include consumable items.
I have to disagree.....locations one thing, but I have gone there looking for things and left emptyhanded-because they just didn't have it. Face it, Luna's ssdd.........same stuff different spot......same old, same old.Why not? I think Luna is a great place to shop and to have vendors. As a shopper everything you could need is often stocked in Luna; as a seller you will not find more traffic then in Luna. As the saying goes retail is about LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. I can hardly keep my vendors stocks on Atlantic and Chessy, and on Legends I no longer stock my vendor because i don't want to go over a billion gold on the vendor.
Full Discloser: I own 8 Luna houses (7 on Legends and 1 on Chessy), so I may be a little biased for Luna!
Honestly, what do you think will happen first? The various search engines covering the entire shard instead of just Luna and surrounding area or EA doing something?Problem is, having a vendor outside Luna hardly makes sense. I shop there for bargains. You should try out Makato (i think this name) in Tokuno . It's similar to Luna in the layout but its much prettier and doesn't have inflated prices. It's traffic isn't too bad either.
If it includes the ability to flag good items in the middle of a mess of junk items in the same way that KR highlighting can be customized through skins and work in the original UO client, too, I would vote for this to be implemented in UO.A vendor search engine by EA (ingame) could also be a basis for a search engine to search your house, your chars and their bank boxes for certain items with filters like locked down, in secure box, accessible by this char and marking the containing box in house with a tracking like arrow etc to help with questions like:
