Why do i have to solo peerless?

What is the obsession with solo-ing every peerless and mini-champ spawn?
I joined UO again as I want to have fun hunt with a group to take on the champs with my warrior .. yeah a good powerful template is a bonus, but just seems if you design a warrior, it has to be ‘uber’ with bush, necro, paladin et al all on one template… and not worth playing if you don’t have all the latest super arties and can’t solo a peerless boss …

Any thoughts?

I prefer to do 3 peerless with friends and rolling for the drops instead of doing one alone in the same time. it's just much more fun in a group.

Mini-champ though - they are simply to easy to be entertaining for a group. I think that's okay though, working one mini.champ up to the renowned usually yields ca. 10 imbuing ingredients for me. So one cacly through and you can imbue one property. That's fine. I alway do kill the renowned, but never ever had an arti drop on me

There is no requirement to solo anything in this game or to have the best of everything. It just so happens that now days some people just don't like to go in groups and there is some sort of mentality among different players about playing solo with "uber" everything. There are others out there who are more than happy to group up for hunts and there are even guilds who host regular events for group activities. You just have to look for them. Luckily we have forums here that are shard specific where you can ask about it.

You don't have to solo peerless. It is even more effective to make peerless with at least a small group.

On the other hand I can understand people who are looking for a challenge (template, armor, weapon, tactic) and try to do it alone.

The ELV guild is one of the most active PvM guilds on Europa. They even invite non-guilded people to do peerless hunts.

But others, who don't have all the top arties or an imbuder to make super weapons (such as me, who's just started again), should't be classed as a second class citizens..

As i previously stated, a few nights ago i wanted to go to the new dungeon, but no group would have me due to not having any super arties on my character...

so i asked one of them to help by imbuing me a decent weapon... (i'd pay ofcourse) but no... his imbuer was for him alone... lovely community spirit in the game these days...

Europa also have Night Fall, PWAL, Darkness Falls which all do regular hunts etc

Once you have Imbued your billionth weapon/suit it becomes more a chore to imbue, than fun. That being said, people VASTLY overestimate the difficulty of building an imbuer. I would suggest you take a week and build up imbuing, then you can have any weapons or armor you want to create.

To your original question though, most of the drops in this game are rare enough that doing 100 of said boss to get an item you are after is plenty for most people, let alone 300 or more so everyone in your group of 3 can have said item.

You just need to find the right guild though, although I can solo most if UO, i still hunt with my guild often, just more fun.

You don't have to solo peerless: you are absolutely free to join a group for that.

The problem is that the reverse is not true as well: you have to group to fight a lot of mobs. Unless you "choose" to be one of the type of characters that can solo everything and until they screw up things with the nerf of the month (a funny case of a game were a player actually becomes less powerful with time).

A better system would save both fight-styles but that requires better designers.

Its not the game mechanics at fault here .... I can honestly say its the political sphere not just in UO but in MMO gaming as a whole. Guild leaders are not doing their jobs keeping players connected to one another. Half the time a few players leave a game/guild and the leaders are left with setting players up to solo...!!!! NO they should be organizing recruitment alliances and partys. But instead they equip the remaining force to solo because they know the right thing to do is hard work.

Its a trend in MMOs today. Bad leadership!

Well if someone knew they were a bad leader you might think they had a plan to make the whole event better instead of just knowingly walk into a bad event with no plan. Bad leader = worse.

The other option is to get the keys for a peerless. The use chat to invite anyone to join in on the run. Load of players would chance the drop if they didn't have to grind for the keys.

Plenty of guilds recruit a lot too. Its more some folks like to be alone. The best thing you can do is find a big guild and go with them. Of course keying it yourself and then inviting folks works pretty well for the most part.

I personally like to solo peerless because the drop rate is so F@#$ing low on the artifacts (Slither).

I would rather get it for me, although its only because getting the "Keys" for medusa is BORING AS HELL.

It's more fun in a group but nothing in this game requires a group to kill it Soooo yea . . .
