Why do creatures in Shame change color?

some of them respond to certain elemental damage, like 1st level earth eles respond to energy damage. i forget exactly what happens, but a dev mentioned they get "grounded," and I guess there's some sort of buff.

From my experience (albiet limited), I have found that when i kill a shame creature while it changed to the paragon gold color, i get a shame crystal. Not sure if that is accurate or not, but so far, it seems to be.

I have seen some of them display a message about a frenzied rage (OT - damn, wish my ex-wife did this...) and they seem to change to a brownish red color as well.

ya the frenzied is only at the end when they get low hp.
what the op is asking is when they turn a different color for a short time at anytime (even at the beginning).

i will have to check from now on to see if i get a crsytal when that happens.

well, got a crystal off one that didn't change, so that theory is blown.

Perhaps the devs put in color changes to make us wonder....and now they get to laugh while we continue to ponder.

Simple. Its mildew. If you haven’t noticed... all that extra moisture reeks havoc.

I noticed that when I was killing air elementals with my bard mage, using energy vortex, all of the corpses were a gold color.
