Why cannot we get increased storage space ?

One of the arguments I heard in the past against storage space, is that it brought a toll on servers' hardware.

When was the last storage space increase ? Quite a few years back now (was it a 10% increase ?).....

In the meantime, hardware has improved and prices, overall, dropped.

So I wonder, why cannot we get some more storage increase by updating the servers' hardware with newer technology ?

By the way, does servers' hardware get updated by default every now and then ? How often that now and then would be ?

Don't remember does it stack, somehow i have a 40% housing storage increase in all my keeps

It does stack... There was an original 20% increase with (7th age?) and then the 20% storage/bank increase shortly before KR for a total of 40%.

To cash in why not sell 20% more storage space for $20 and let it stack?

Though to be fair for smaller home owners an increase of 20% of the base number a castle can hold might be preferable.

I still think they should round up all small house storage/lockdowns to that of 18x18's that way many would not feel the need to put up so many of the larger land based houses. It's not like we have giant amounts of homes anymore (except on a few shards). You can drive a mac truck on most shards in malas. On one shard I know of, if you could place castles, one stretch of land in malas you could easy put up 6 to 8 of them. Many shards this space has been barren.

Did you not read the house of commons summary? One of the people from EAMythic said there would be an annoucement by the end of the year about storage. My guess we will be able to buy more storage space soon.

My House currently shows "Increased Storage 40%".

Does your link suggest that I can purchase 20% additional space and reach 60% increased storage stacking the newly purchased one on top of the 40% I already am at ?

Or I cannot ?

I see that as a work around, not really meeting players' needs.

Personally, I would prefer it as better to instead upgrade the hardware so that players can have a better playing experience, overall, including increased storage.

You can get increased storage space. It just seems that you have the max increased storage space possible. If 40% isn't enough then get a bigger house or start dumping some junk.

Even with several 18x18s and 40% increase I still have trouble finding space for everything. And its certainly not junk.

The right answer would be, sure just buy another storage upgrade for $20.
Microtransactions seem to be the future anyway and UO always was perfect for it with its collections and rare stuff.

Yes, I have played UO for years, hence my use of the word soon when stating when we could buy more storage space.

typical response from a Stratics mod. way to tow the party line Petra. UO should give paying customers more storage space without us having to pay for it. it costs them nothing and there's no reason the entire UO universe can't fit on modern servers.

default storage space should be 10k+ per account. right now it is way too low. people who paid for extra space should get probably 30k+ total.

I thought it was a decent response in case popps was unaware of the option to purchase more storage space. He didn't mention until much later that he, apparently, already bought expanded storage. What kind of response would you have liked instead?
