When Shards Start Crashing...

It is customary, when a shard starts crashing like mad, to turn off plant growth for that day so that people like me don't log on the next day to find out that the plants I couldn't tend to while the server was down went ahead and grew again and have to spend the next couple of days trying to fix them.

*sigh*

Due to no punctuation (not complaining but explaining) I am not sure where your question starts and ends exactly, but I will answer, somewhat.

Normally when the shards crash that means one of two things, a revert or they do not save after the crash point, this in turn should mean that plants should not grow any more than they had up until the shard crashed until the shard comes back online, once the shard is back online they would continue to grow normally. The plant growth cycle is at server maintenance? If so they would have grown normally at server up, then you tend to them then if the system crashes it will either be saved that you tended to them or it will not save at which point you will have to tend to them again once the server is back up and before the normal maintance time.

Not sure if this helped at all, but I hope it did. o.o

Actually, what I'm saying is that if a shard decides to start crashing and is down for several hours, it is proper for EA to manually turn off plant growth for that server for the day. The plants grow each morning at server-up (or at some point around then), however, if you couldn't get on for four hours during your play window because the shard itself was physically unavailable, they are going to grow regardless of whether the shard was crashed or not.

EA does have the ability to turn off plant growth for a day... they've done it in the past. And it is customary to do so when a shard is down for an extended period of time. With plants, it's far more preferential to miss a day of growth than to have to spend the next two, three days trying to nurse them back to health and/or losing a plant because it was freshly planted.

Ahh, well yea I know how the plant system works as far as missing a day goes, just sounded like you were asking a question and I just simply tried to answer haha. I see your plight now, and suppose I agree, see no reason why they should not do that, given that they do have the ability.
