This is mostly out of intrest, can be on any Facet.

I gotta say mine is Occlo, got all the shops i need, my red chars can access it and it's quiet. It even has small house plots avaliable just outside the guardzones. Only problem is that it hasn't got a moongate but i can live with that as the majority of chars these days have a method of recalling somehow.

So what's your favourite city and more importantly why?

My favorite is Zento. It has everything you need for trade skills and more. It is also very pretty there. A job well done by the dev's in the deco department. It has a bank and a moongate and a stable. What more could a person ask for.

PaxOku City (Homare-Jima) on Chesapeake.

You said city. *smiles*

Its ability to adapt to different play styles and changing times. The willingness to help others and promote them and the different RP Races in the city.

Zento's my favorite city because of the convenience provided by the layout and because of its looks. Skara Brae and Umbra are also near the top of my list as well, mostly for the convenient layout and because one is a good place to start a lumberjack and the other is a good place to start a miner. Haven is also okay and a very good place to start a character, however it just doesn't feel quite as "convenient" as the other towns for some reason and I don't rate it nearly as high as the other three towns in the "looks" category. (Hmmm...Umbra doesn't really rate for looks either, other than being interesting in a dark sort of way.)

Well it used to be Magincia..

Had a working moongate, half the island is a guardzone, room on the beach for a few small plots, and had a nice snake and gator spawn for leather back in the day. Pacific has an EM tavern that is still standing, used to have events back in the day.

Lets hope the reconstruction of Mag isn't anything like New Havens..

Would have to be Skara Brae. Love that little village.
I like it because it's just a nice little cozy island village, easy to get around there, and it was where I spent a lot of time when I first started this game.
Also because there was actually an ancient Neolithic excavated village called Skara Brae and as an Archaeologist I just love that :D

Occlo - because this is where my first guild was based out of. I was sad when they used it for Haven...

Skara Brae - my close second because of the moongate, bank and stable so close.

Bucs Den would be 3rd.

Vel Lor Relg. It's probably the nicest looking city in the game to date and has everything I could want. It is also not easily accessible and never crowded. :)

Skara Brae - Has that great outdoor looks, the bank, stable, moongate and other shops are all within a few steps from each other, yet it's not full of nouveaux riches like that dreaded place named Luna.

Honourable mentions are Delucia, New Haven and Zento.

Montor!

Is it hospitable? No. Is it convenient? No. Does it have any use? No. Is it pretty? Sort of. What the hell actually happened to it? Who knows! But it has a phoenix and that's all that matters.

Trinsic ...

When UO opened its doors, it was just the city I picked.

I got to know were all the shops/vendors etc were.

I got to know all the area around Trinsic very well.

My very first house was placed on the North side of the Bay on the north side of Trinsic, the old large with a patio and forge+anvil.

The beautiful city of Trinsic. It has everything - including 'hidden rooms' and in Fel has a moongate to the Brit docks. It used to teem with people but now I am usually there by myself ...

I've gotta say Wind. A beautiful city in itself, and the lore behind it, although scarce, is just so much more captivating than that of any other city (to me at least).

Brit...Bank roof

I would sit there for hours on end...casting bless to random people and just seeing what was going on...Talking to my friends and just relaxing....looking for something to do...

Between the PC vendors selling there wears...to the random thief...now this was back in the day..

To the random drops of junk people don't want anymore..to the random filling of the squares on top of the roof with food or bandaids or Ale..It may be dead....But there is something going on once in awhile that just brings a smile to me face...

Brit is where I started from..and when I decided to leave thats where Ill be..
Hey the fish out of that little river there by the bank is some great tasting fish btw...

For another one of my char...I second this...It has always been JUST a mage place...A safe place for a mage to a point to hang out in...

Plus the easy demons outside of the guard zone...The roof walking...and the lovely park....This city would have to be my second best place to hang out in...Hrm..actually I think I have two toons that live there now....

It depends which shard I'm playing. On Europa I prefer Skara, but on Siege the proximity of the healer to the moongate makes Zento a better choice :D Although when I first ventured to those hostile shores I lived in the inn in Delucia, being a perfect spot to train a crafter.

Yes that is a awesome city. I only wish they would be nice and add recalling to Ilshenar , but that is another debate. hehe

Hmm depends what I am doing. I generally go to Haven just because there is always some activity there with new players ect. Many years ago it was moonglow. Always people there but not over crowded like Brit Bank at the time. I actually meet my rl hubby on the top of glow bank. LOL

Trinsic, my sons liked the architecture , it was not gloomy as the rest. When they offered me the 5th slot on their account it was natural to start there. I already knew the city. Not the best choice for a miner/mage, but Mim grew up quickly during the Trinsic invasion.
When Trammel came we placed our first house , the first day of housing, at the moongate , what a day! I still live there and will never leave.

Skara is a close town, everything you need right there.
And it's home. :)

But I have always had an affinity for Nu'jelm, the park, the gardens, the palace, chessboard, the market. Only downfall to Nuj is there is no mage shop. But it is beautiful, and if you like some solitary time, it is the place to be.

My favorite city is Trinsic on the Fel facet.
I began in Trinsic when the game started and had a vendor house right outside the front gate. The server wars took place in front of the house when the server was going to go down. Once they closed the city because of the invasion the city became deserted, which is a shame because it was a very popular city when the game first started.

Yah Nu'jelm is probably the favorite bank for me. I always liked being able to Bank from the boat there and take the stuff home on the boat.

When I came back, I got a small boat and lived off the boat/Nu'jelm bank untill I could afford a house

On Europa it was Trinsic at the west gate simply for the good times with all the rp chars.

On Great Lakes its got to be luna purely for the giggles i get at the prices people buy items and stuff for :p

I guess I would have to say Yew. Because it was my first home. Always enjoyed the huge trees..... I stayed and suffered through the swamp... worked to cure it.

Secondly I'd choose Skara Brae... just because well... it's the most convenient.

Stables right by the bank... it's nice. Moongate close by... I suppose the new haven is ok... but it just lacks charm... Skara has charm... Trinsic looks nice.... Umbra is cool.... Luna .... UGLY... I think of Luna like Vagas... Brit like DC... Yew is nice country living... Vesper is too much of a pain with all the bridges... Minoc is ok... but the stable is way across town... not very well laid out if you ask me.

Luna!
I like Luna because all the shops and the bank are very close together so you dont have to run a long ways to get from the bank to the provisioner..:) I also like Luna because of all the player houses (usually that have vendors) surrounding the city.. easy shopping!

On Siege, my fav. towns are Ocllo, and Serp. Hold, the latter for the music mostly and it's stable.

On Chesapeake, Zento cuz my homes are there right by the town wall & I am fond of cherry blossom trees :) followed by Moonglow, then Minoc.

*edits* Fav. town for resource gathering fel side both shards is DELUCIA... a new city of MY UO early years and birth into UO. First *expansion I ever bought in UO and when Delucia once so crowded full of players, will remain, always a city I am quite fond of, preferrably felside, as it was originally, when only ONE the original Delucia existed for us, on all shards.
