Can anyone tell me the range of a cannon? Does it differ depending on whether I use heavy or light cannons?

I reckon it's probably only 3-4 tiles max, A guess of sorts, But I've had alot of battles with guild ships and pirate NPCs.
When I'm fighting the pirates I leave a 1 tile gap between ships, And I've fired at a guildies boat with a 5 tile gap and it did nothing.

It is a little farther than most seem to think.
Last night, we had a pirate ship right beside us - and another one lined up on the far side of the first ship. Our cannon fire scuttled both pirate ships at the same time so the distance is at least a little wider than the width of an orc ship.

Alright, I tested a bit and it seems to be roundabout 10 tiles. You don't have to be next to the ship, but you have to be rather close (in firing range of the enemy).
The pirate ship being hit from you next to the other..
Well i have had the same thing happen,but noticed it was the other pirate ship hiting the one next to it.
It wasent me..
They will attack each other ,i have taken on 3 ships at the same time,and watched them scutle each other doing so trying to get to me.

I thought of that... but if so, the middle ship should have scuttled way before the outside pirate ship - since the middle had both me and the pirate firing on it... they both showed damage at the same time, and both scuttled at the same time...
