noticeable activity goes up and down all the time. during the city invasions and the helloween content it was easy to find other players. now it is a lot less likely to find anyone because the land mass is so big. Also most people will stick to activities with their guilds rather than socialize elsewhere and the introduction of instanced or semi-instanced encounters has created zones for PvM where you'll be on your own by definition. While communication in gc can be an idicator for shard activity it can be misleading because usually groups of players will keep radio silence during pvm activities as to not attract PKs.
I would say Siege has a medium size population, less than Atl but definitely more than some of the dead shards out there. Since you said you preferred the ruleset I would suggest you start playing here again and increase Siege's population by 1 or possibly more if you can get some old friends to return with you. If you need help with anything just ask in gc or on here and people will usually help you out. Welcome back!

... Yes we aren't many as on atlantic but the server is still well alive ... Most depends on what are you looking for and your play style ... There are guilds active that make big and hard hunt, there are guild that make champs , there are guild that make little hunt but are very "social", there are gulds for pvp ... There are also player towns active around the world ... So probably you'll find the right place for you ... And also comunity is good ... Give a try to SP it worth for sure ... Well it depends on your playstyle... If you like caster a mage/mystic template it's very good to start and hunt.. Instead if you like more warrior a sampire it's always good ... Yeah, I still think Siege is in the upper third of populations, but we are in holiday period for the US so a bunch of folks will be doing family stuff from now until January.
I have seen A LOT of new names recently but as Max started, groups keep a low profile in GC while that are doing champs or Navrey or those kinds of things.
I think last week I did about 10 peerless with various Siege players and our guild only had two people, we just bring others along. The bigger guilds have regular events as well.
If you are new our returning, best thing to do is talk in General Chat and solicit advice.

sampire absolutely works great on Siege. you just have to keep stuff replaceable. forget about the prodo sampire templates with captain john's hat and other harder to replace items to boost your skills. real skill is more reliable on Siege (except for skills like resist, chivalry, anatomy etc. which can be imbued on jewellery). also for doing basic stuff like soloing champ spawns (rats especially) you don't necessarily need to max out every mod on your suit. Use imbued items for basic suits and you'll be fine. bring harder to replace suits only when you feel comfortable or maybe have safety in numbers...

I've been playing on Siege for about a month or two after a long absence.
Things I like about playing on Siege.
1. People are knowledgeable and helpful if you have any questions.
2. With only one toon per account, people cant hide behind multiple characters.
3. The entire server feels like one large guild.
4. The economy seems to be more stable than the other shards.
5. I like the fake sense of moral superiority I get by playing on Siege.
6. I have a love-hate relationship with RoT skill gain. Keeps me from cheating.
Things that I frustrate me about Siege.
1. I wish more people sold stuff to vendors. *Advantage goes to Atlantic, it's fun to window shop for all the rares that I cant afford.
2. The population is a mixed blessing. Do you want to play with a lot of people with a bunch of *******s mixed in or do you want to play with fewer, but higher quality people.
3. Housing, It seems like all the veteran players on other servers placed a house on Siege because they can & not because they play here.
So any of you guys that read this and have lots of awesome stuff sitting in your house, please put it on a vendor so I can window shop.

Old, Grouchy, and intolerant of newbs on their lawns . . .
Less people than atlantic - but more that most shards. But because a lot (almost all) people stealth it is hard to see all of them. Also we have really 2 groups - one from the US and one from Europe so rarley are all people on at once.
