Try teleporting within that human side house spot in Abyss, you get an interesting message.Ya, I was curious myself. Maybe this was to lay the foundations for the houses?
Unlikely, I suspect that requires Mesanna to manually place them on each shard.Ya, I was curious myself. Maybe this was to lay the foundations for the houses?
Babelfish doesn't do any better, but pretty much confirms what you stated. The notes on the Japanese UO site indicate that the 2d client patch 7.0.6.5 and the SA client patch 4.0.6.6 included the following:
- Localization files updated. Something about manual procedures for changing the description of the house received as a prize for the Abyss quest.
- Changes to the names of some magical properties. (The properties seem to be ones for reducing mana, reducing stamina, hit point conversion, velocity, and balanced.)
The Google translation of the Japanese is clunky at best, so it's hard to say exactly what the patch really does. If you can read Japanese or know of a better translator, here's the Web page with the patch info: http://ultimaonline.jp/news.phtml?id=89860.
Here is a link to another interesting page on the Japanese site: http://ultimaonline.jp/news.phtml?id=89856.
Isn't the UO Dev Team in northern Virginia at the Mythic HQ now?Don't know.
I'm staying across the street from EA in Redwood City tonight. Want me to go over and ask them? I saw their building as I was having sushi for dinner. Seemed pretty quiet over there.
They must be out working a spawn.
Sometimes, I think Mandarin is easier to translate.... of course, English would have been preferred, but....April 14, 2010 (Wednesday), 2D and client patch 7.0.6.5, SA has issued 4.0.6.6 client patch.
Changes
Localization files * Updated
o The Abyss quest text will change the description of the house receive the award procedure. (See instructions here)
o changes the name of the following magical properties.
+ "Additional effect: Manadorein" → "Additional effect: Manadaun" After trying a number of translators, all I could come up with that made any sense was mana and either down or drain - it may well be leech
+ "Additional effect: Sutaminadorein" → "Additional Effect: Stamina down." Again, this translated out to down or drain - it may well be leech
+ "- Reduces" → "hit point conversion portion ()"( attribute name)
+ "Damage prevention" → "hit point conversion."
+ "Velocity" → "long-range bonus."
+ "Balanced" → "usable with one hand."
Yeah, i know - but this is one of their grandfathered houses. I should put some water barrels on the front steps.Isn't the UO Dev Team in northern Virginia at the Mythic HQ now?
Still, you should go over there and give them a piece of your mind!!!
Why would you ever say something like that? And how was the information about the quests screwed up anyway?I don't often say things like this, but I hope the person responsible for posting the information the the UO Herald page is the same person that screwed up distributing the information on the quests to begin with, and that they find themselves at the back end of the long line to the unemployment office...
What exactly was screwed up when distributing the information on the quest? On my shard, people had no trouble doing the quest.I don't often say things like this, but I hope the person responsible for posting the information the the UO Herald page is the same person that screwed up distributing the information on the quests to begin with, and that they find themselves at the back end of the long line to the unemployment office...
Delete your temporary internet files. Your computer is probably relying on old cache information.when ever i go to uo.com I have to refresh teh page to get it to show anything new
when i first went there was still The Escapist Showdown but soon as I hit refresh it was In the Shadow of Virtue - Lost and Found Part 2
not sure why i ahve to refresh it, but maybe thats what u have to do to get it to update?
The quest for the SA houses was announced on 4/6... problem is, it went live, with no notification, on 4/5. Even the devs have said this was a serious issue, and they were rather unhappy with the person responsible. Why would you ever say something like that? The quest wasn't announced until the 6th, a day after the event had started. Even Mark admitted that this was a royal screwup and that they were mad about it happening. What exactly was screwed up when distributing the information on the quest? On my shard, people had no trouble doing the quest.
A question about the quest...since you get drawn at the start of a day, then if you don't do part 1 of the quest until later in the day, you can't be in the draw for that day, even if you then do part 3?The main thing in the patch was a change in quest text on the housing quest... originally we were going to just have you win the house and not have a transferrable ticket. The quest text said that Mythic would contact you after you won.
Then we decided that it would be better if the winner could sell the house before claiming it. So, on the Herald it says that the winner needs to contact us... because while we know who the winner of the contest is, we won't be able to automate tracking the ticket.
So, I forgot to change the quest text which had been through QA a week earlier. When we realized that the Herald and the quest text contradicted each other, we changed the quest text. As someone pointed out in another thread, I'm trying to keep the game self contained and give people the info that they need inside the game. (I know the Town Criers didn't get updated, sorry.)
While we were at it, we just fixed a couple of other things. But that was the main thing.
I realized the same thing. If you did part 1 today, then proceed to part 3, your char wouldn't be in the ballot list yet and you'd never win for that day.A question about the quest...since you get drawn at the start of a day, then if you don't do part 1 of the quest until later in the day, you can't be in the draw for that day, even if you then do part 3?
