What up with the Redirection

Up until recently my connection from New Zealand to the Oceania server was about 55-65ms with 9-11 hops. It is now 15-16 hops and around 180-200ms.

I have trace the route and once I hit Australia where the Oceania server is located I get pushed onto Japan??? Hence my ping.

I have contacted my ISP but they say as the ISP doing the redirecting is not one of theirs it is out of their hands.

I read somewhere the company providing the Oceania links had changed due to weekend crashs, is anyone else facing the same issues I am?

Anyone have any suggestions, I am already on a fast cable connection in NZ so no upgrade opition there. It is crazy to be routed through japan to connect to an Australian server which is the closest country to NZ as well.

Maybe Mythic needs to sort out the Australian links/server provider, I know it can be done as I faced this problem a few years ago when links were changed for whatever reason.

Anyone know who else I can contact about this?? I have been with UO for years and I hate to be pushed out due to bad lag

Unfortunately yes, I have posted a trace route on the Oceania Forum, but nothing has changed. Getting very annoying to say the least. I would have thought other players in New Zealand would be complaining as well, maybe I'm the only one left to turn the light off now

Maybe its a plan to make it unplayable here so people leave then they can say its not financial viable and shut down the Oceania server.

Alter.net is the problem hop, unfort I don't know how to correct this, or who I can contact. I could try my ISP again but not sure how much sway they would have. Any suggestions?

hmm, that's a totally different route, no Alter.net servers in that one.
Seems there's been a route change, but the new one is no better than the previous one!
