What should my page say to get a pet fixed?

No, I'm not talking about neutering my pet

My dragon has gone stupid. When I do an all kill, he stands in place and starts casting spells. He will NOT move from the stop he is standing at unless I do an all follow me type command.

I've paged the GM twice now and I think I've ended up with a GM that is dumber than my pet. <insert canned response here>

So how can I get the GM to actually take a look at what is going on? I have a feeling my third page is gonna get me a markrolleyes:

Over my years, I've found that the less specific a page is, the better chance of getting a GM to talk to you. Simply send in a page that says "My pet is bugged and I need a GM to ix it," and you should get a GM to help you.

OTOH, as a GM, when you get three pages from the same guy and give canned replies for all of them, logic says you haven't done your job rolleyes:

But think of all the fun your dragon gets while watching the dragon he's casting fireball & other little effect spells at chases you around and beats the stuffing out of you. Don't be a killjoy.

My Tamer has stuffed his dragons into the stable and gone to a Nightmare/Dreadmare combo. He spends less gold on replacing worn-out boots & horseshoes that way.

Gellor you are experiencing a known problem. Fortunately for you there are some other tamers that know the solution. This can happen with any pet but seems most often to affect spellcasters. It will reoccur on an all too frequent basis so its good to learn to recognize it and correct it ASAP. Failure to correct it can cause you to issue too many unanswered commands causing your pet to say screw this and leave.

Solution:
Easiest first. If you are on a facet which allows teleporting and can cast teleport, do so. Just a few tiles is all that's needed. Then call your pet to you. Then issue your kill command and it should respond appropriately.
Harder. Leave the current facet with your pet by whatever means you can. Then call the pet issue kill, etc.

Really simple solution, but it's always worked for me...feed the draggy and it should be fine again.

It's a little hard to stop & feed a pet a munchie while something is chasing you wanting you as it's munchie.

Feeding a pet seems to remove all prior commands from your pet. So a reset of your pet does the trick. I'll try a Confuse potion next time and see if it has the same effect. Still sounds like a bug though. A pet that lores 'wonderfully happy' shouldn't need to be fed to straighten it out. Particularly mid-battle.

I know the feeling.

I did several champ hunts with my greater dragon...and it was a total disaster.

He switches targets without asking , refuses to go back to the target i asked him to kill first, well he accepts the command and then immediatly switches target again.
Ask him to guard me...yet again he just picks whatever target suits him best while mobs are beating me to death.

I really got fustrated last time and decided not to take my tamer to champs anymore.
I was very close to releasing my greater dragon and killing him.

I cannot rely on my pet anymore.

Actually, put yourself in his shoes. If you'd got one monster trying to kill your master, and one monster trying to kill you, which would you bite first?

I pretty much always find if my pet wants to fight something other than what I've told him to it's because that other something is targetting him.

When I get the 'I'm stuck but I'll fight it from here' effect I break it by feeding the pet - unless I actually want it to gain magery.

Issuing ANY guard command puts the pet in guard mode and he will attack whatever is attacking either him or you. There is no predetermination of what his target will be from one second to the next.

For maximum pet control you must use STOP, FOLLOW, and KILL commands only.

yeah i thought 'all guard me' would be that he would actualy....guard ME...and not himself.

He has no AI...so you would think he would actualy follow commands and excecute them perfectly as told to.

never had any problems with pets following commands flawlessly in other games...could even call them back in the heat of the battle...and they would not react untill i told them too.
