What is the point of Distilling ?

To be honest, I have not been following much the whole distilling new content.

What is the point of it ?

I mean, other than for roleplaying, what other uses are there to brew something and drinking it ?

Or to expand, a lot of players wanted brewing to be added, so eventually they added it. Unfortunately they also made it so you have to buy it to use it. But I don't mind paying for brewing, it's awesome
