What is a Lavalier and why are they selling for so much? Is it the 20% Kinetic Eater? What does kinetic eater do?

Its cost is because its from slasher and a rare drop. (Hard to get)

And then kinetic eater = take a portion of damage (20%) and returns it back as health in a second.

So a mob hits you for 30 damage and then 1 second later you get 20 back.

Heh might have gotten your math a little wrong there. 20% of 30 is 6.

Every effect has a percent set amount they do. The 20% is just the chance it will go off. A 2% and a 100% fireball do the same damage. Just the 100% chance has little better chance off going off.

also the heals aren't instant, it saves up small heals and trickles them to you. You'll see more of the Eater effects now that you can get it easily from reforging.

i'm sure everyone else already knows, but I just learned the other day, building weapons, and what effect leech has. it's really that % times (.4 or .3); then you get a RNG value of 0 to that.
What's wrong with a hard value instead of RNG? sorry i'm just not a believer in a 'random' number. If it was that necessary, maybe we need a random 0-max limiter anytime we swing, or cast a spell?

This is incorrect, it always goes off and you'll get 20% of the kinetic damage you take back to you everytime, you just don't always get the message.

It is just expensive since it is a super rare item. Slasher drops it as often as Navrey drops a Tangle... Except it takes way longer to kill Slasher and few do it. Neither sampires nor tamers are effective templates for Slasher. The DE property is not worthwhile. This is one of the few items gargoyles can wear that gives DCI, but even so I still wouldn't use it in any mod-heavy suit with 0 resists. I think it is just seen as a status symbol.

The choice of necklaces is very limited for a garg and that one has a pretty good imbuing weight. Also at high level AND on a non-melee char, the Kinetic Eater actually works pretty well, even on a human or elf.

If it was only the rarity, the Mangler would be the same price as the Lavaliere since they have the same drop rate and from the same mob. Not that the Mangler is particularly cheap but nowhere near as expensive as the Lavaliere.
